Miroslav Volf's theology of embrace in the context of CHC theology focusing on the question of eschatology leading to Christian engaged life
Sedlák, Filip ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
Miroslav Volf's theology of embrace in the context of CHC theology focusing on the question of eschatology leading to Christian engaged life Filip Sedlák Abstract At the turn of the 19th and 20th century theology has reevaluated its basis so that eschatology regained its position of this basis. The view, which was kept only by the outsiders in the period of the Enlightment, has become a generally accepted one. The intensity of this shift changed in a variety of ways but it cannot certainly be said that it was overcome or replaced by a new wave until now. The importace of the eschatological viewpoint in contemporary theology has affected to a great extent also the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church (CHC). However, the importace of eschatology in the CHC theology does not stem from the mentioned shift only, but has its historical roots in the Czech Reformation from which the subject of eschatology is inseparable, as well as in its understanding eschatology as an impulse to practical action perceived as preparing the ways for the Lord's coming which can eventually turn to the revolutionary dimension. The continuity with the Czech Reformation was declared soon after the foundation of the new church using the slogan: "Completing the Czech religious reformation." It is undoubtedly clear from many...
Forms of ecclesiology in the Czech Reformation
Rokyta, Jan ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (advisor) ; Weis, Martin (referee) ; Čornej, Petr (referee)
Dissertation thesis is devoted to the concepts of ecclesiology in Hussite movement. Particularly the perception of early church in individual Hussite movements and in significant Hussite thinkers is taken into account. An original standpoint is that Hussite revolution existed as a product of thinking of theological origin. It is necessary to deal also with the perception of man, power and its legitimacy, history and in Christian thinking also the approaches to the interpretation of the Scripture. Main and inspirational personages of Czech history of 14th and 15th century occur in the text: Matthew of Janow, John Hus, Jakoubek of Mies, Nicolaus Pilgramensis. Furthermore also ideas of radical Taborites are analyzed. One of the decisive viewpoints is the relationship to the Scripture and the way of its interpretation. It makes an important criterion for understanding church, world, social relations and the soul of man as Czech reformation emphasized them. Next is then the notion of early church as individual schools or Hussite personages perceived it. I have attempted to approach Czech reformation thinking about church with its individual specifics but also in their common features. Key words Ecclesiology, early church, Matthew of Janow, John Hus, Jakoubek of Mies, Nicolaus Pilgramensis

Cháb, Matěj ; Landová, Tabita (advisor) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee)
Church Order of the Unity of Czech Brethren that was published 1632 in Lesno (Poland) belongs within the publications of Unity to its late prints. Since Church Order is a print approved by the authority Synod of Unity, undoubtedly represents the official views of Unity of Czech Brethren first half of the seventeenth century. Its name "Church Order" evokes to its readers feel that it is more about matter related to canon law. When reading the Church Order, it is quite soon obvious that the text itself does not respond to this assumption. This work aims to characterize the Church Order of Czech Brethren regarding to the purpose for which it was written, and in the first part gathers and evaluates information that illustrate the historical background of the text. This part is than focused on the nature of thought and legal environment of the time and place at which and on which the text originated. On this basis, the purpose and character of the text of the Church Order is specified. The second objective, which this work follows, is the search for answers to the question whether the text itself, (which for the most part describes the practical issues of life of the Christian community, ranging from regional level o of the Church to the level of practical application of the Christian approach to everyday family...
