Recreational Sportsmen's Community of FK Plácek Spořilov in documentary photography
Blatný, Jiří ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Lábová, Sandra (referee)
This practical bachelor's thesis aimed to create a photographic documentary about the recreational sportsmen's community of FK Plácek Spořilov football club. The photographic publication - which is the product of this practical thesis - brings testimony about sport and other social activities of the club and its operations. It is also a fragmental depiction of the place where most of those activities take place. The theoretical part of the thesis firstly attempts to define the concept of documentary photography as well as to show how its understanding has changed in history. It perceives sport as a socially significant fenomenon and it therefore lays out the aspects that place it into such a category. Followingly, the thesis endeavours to discuss the capacity of documentary photography to offer a deeper insight into social and psychological aspects of sports. Last but not least, it highlights selected work of those Czech documentary photographers who have related themselves to sport themes.
The development of czech sport's photojournalism from the middle of 20th century
Hejbal, Dominik ; Láb, Filip (advisor) ; Teplá, Jana (referee)
The paper deals with the development of the Czech journalistic sport photography from mid 20th century until recent time. Conditions that influenced the work of sports photographers are mapped, whether it was technical equipment, political constraints or other relevant facts. The paper mentions key events that have had importance in the Czech sports photography. The very beginnings of the Czech sports photography are described, too, to add context with the period followed. Furthermore, some noteworthy cases are mentioned, such as career change of a professional sportsman to a sport photographer. Ethically doubtful practices, once quite frequent, are followed, too. Another infrequently studied area of interest is discussed, which is the phenomenon of successful pictures of neglected events. The paper also provides the reader with a list of the foremost Czech sports photographers, a quantitative analysis of sport photos in the Rude Pravo daily (name later changed to Pravo). Main moments of change are studied from the point of view of the extent of the sport photography on the pages of Czech dailies. Since this topic has not been extensively covered by books, an important part of the paper is based on original interviews with veteran Czech sport photographers, including Stanislav Tereba, the only Czech winner...
Dance, movement, photography
Peguero, Benjamin ; ŠIMŮNEK, Michal (advisor) ; JANOŠČÍK, Václav (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to introduce contemporary dance photography and Czech street dance culture. As a dancer and photographer, I have been interested in the ability of photography to reproduce dance as an artistic expression and, as a physical, emotional and in a given context, a deeply anchored experience. The work will be based on Benjamin's concept of aurativeness, through which I will consider the ability of photography to reproduce the dance, from the point of view of three direct participants in the dance event: the spectator watching the dance; the photographer who shoots the dance scene; and the dancer himself, who dances and moves most intensely. The work will be based on the observation of the Czech street dance scene and, in addition to the above, will give an overview of Czech and world dance photography with emphasis on street dance.

Cameraless photography of Běla Kolářová
Tomková, Zuzana ; LEDVINA, Josef (advisor) ; DVOŘÁK, Tomáš (referee)
The first part presents a brief summary of the historical genesis of cameraless photography in the context of the general history of photography. In line with G. Batchen's concept, the work emphasizes the autonomy of this technological and expressive process and qualitative comparability with the procedures and manifestations of classic camera photography. This "photographic history" culminates in the development of avant-garde photographic experiments, especially in the systematic development of Man Ray's "rayograms." Against the avant-garde concept (dadaism, Bauhaus, elements of graphic constructivism) is defined the concept of Běla Kolářová from the beginning of the sixties of the 20th century, which forms the very theme of the work. Specific procedures and concrete results of Běla Kolářová´s work ("artificial negatives", "X-rays of the circle", "light drawings") are observed in the context of the creative experiments of the Czech art scene of the time: visual poetry, J. Kolář's collages, Czech informel, neoconstructivism and geometric abstraction, „Confrontation“ and „Crossroad“ groups, etc. The originality of Kolářová's contribution is reflected through the analysis of the interpretation works of the Czech kunsthistory (J. Hlaváček, J. Valoch, K. Císař, J. Padrta and others). It is emphasized in what Kolářová's creation of photograms exceeds conventional classifications, and what specifically refers to non-derived creative resources and conceptualizations (M. Duchamp, R. Caillois, surrealism, W. Benjamin). From these comparative aspects, the conclusions are generalizing the contribution and importance of the cameraless photography of Běla Kolářová as a legitimate part of the history of Czech visual art of the second half of the 20th century.
Ivan Kafka, Photography between documentation and art
Mertová, Alexandra ; JANOŠČÍK, Václav (advisor) ; LEDVINA, Josef (referee)

It focuses primarily on issues related to the documentation of art and presentation of  installa-tion records. Issues accompanying photographic documentation of art are presented using examples of specific works by Ivan Kafka and his approach from a technical and artistic point of view. The text is built around thematic interviews with the author Ivan Kafka, art photographer Martin Polák and art historian Pavlina Morgan. The purpose of  these interviews was to present a specification of Kafka's documentary approach  from different perspectives and point to the exceptional, as well as problematic aspects of his photographic work. Individual subject areas are developed considering the problematic questions concerning documentation of photography.

The aim of this thesis is finding and collecting archival materials and placing them in a historical-political context. Communist regime changed the portrayal of historical events and directly influenced the amount of exisiting photographs, documents and lives of those who created them. Important part of this bachelor thesis is working with those archival materials – particularly with photographs capturing arrival of Americans and their stay in Czechoslovakia at the end of WW2.
