Influence of developmental rate on behavioral personality forming
SCHMIDTMAJEROVÁ, Eva
The aim of this thesis was to empirically examine one of the theories regarding the laws of intraspecific variability in animal behavior, which assumes that differences in behavior are directly related to individual differences in the rate of growth. One of our most common rodents, common vole (Microtus arvalis) was chosen as a model species, mainly because lots of previous studies on this species have demonstrated, among other things, presence of consistent differences in behavior.
Assessment of animal personality based on recaptures in bank vole (\kur{Clethrionomys glareolus})
ELEXHAUSEROVÁ, Anna
The aim of this study was to investigate the personality of bank vole using recaptures. Some behavioural types were determined (for example shy and bold) and influence of some factors on animal personality was defined (especially the daytime). The rate of repeatability of behaviour was also specified and the dependence of behaviour change on number of days between two captures was defined. Last, two types of tests used for animal personality were compared, indicating the differences between them.
Open Innovation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Czech Republic
Procházka, Lukáš ; Srpová, Jitka (advisor) ; Pichanič, Mikuláš (referee) ; HLADIK, PETR (referee)
The doctoral thesis deals with innovations in small and medium-sized enterprises and is particularly focused on the open innovation paradigm. In the theoretical part it explains the relationship between innovations and competitive advantage and provides a broad overview of the current research in the field of open innovations. Based on the theory and supported by the secondary research, it defines research questions and hypotheses that are tested within a survey distributed among Czech small and medium-sized enterprises. Results of the survey serve as a foundation for own models allowing broader implementation of open innovation in Czech small and medium-sized enterprises.
Tools for searching information about people on the Internet
Vondruška, Petr ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Molnár, Zdeněk (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to summarize information about finding people on the Internet and to introduce specific information resources in this field and information gathering tools for effective searching in these resources. The first part introduces general view on this field, belonging to Open-source intelligence (OSINT). Terms as real identity or virtual (online) identity and technical identity are described. The Intelligence cycle is introduced as an optimal way for searching and processing information. The next part of this study is more practical and describes relevant information resources for gathering information about people. The study provides a description of tools for searching in these resources. This part is based on practical tests of described tools. Most of these tools are used specially for searching in one specific information resource and they do this work better than universal web search engines. The study provides also comparison of selected searching tools which are more complex (search engine Google, meta-search tools Professional Web Orchestra and Copernic Agent, information gathering and forensic analysis tool Paterva Maltego and complex tool for information searching and analysis Tovek Tools). The last part introduces information analysis and processing. This part includes description of tools for graphical data analysis or social network analysis. This study also describes possibility of information relevance review and description of how can final report look like.
Causes and consequences of personalities in microtine rodents
LANTOVÁ, Petra
This thesis focuses on individually specific differences in behavioural strategies, personalities, with two microtine rodents (Microtus arvalis and M. oeconomus) as study species. The work evaluates methodology necessary to reveal and measure consistent individual differences in behaviour, identifies possible proximate and ultimate mechanisms behind the existence of individual behavioural variability, and describes some ecological, evolutionary and behavioural consequences of personalities.
Early social environment affects development of personality traits in common vole \kur{(Microtus arvalis).}
ŠÍCHOVÁ, Klára
The study investigated the effect of non-genetic social factors (represented by litter size, litter sex composition, and affinity to age cohort) on the development of consistent inter-specific differences in reaction to novelty in common voles (Microtus arvalis). The voles were tested in three behavioural experiments ? Forced Open Filed test (FOF), Unforced Open Field test (UFOF), and Radial-arm maze (RAM). A siginificant impact of compontents of social environment was detected.
Locomotory activity of mammals and its determination in laboratory conditions
MATĚJOVSKÁ, Miroslava
I tested locomotory activity of common vole by means of Open-field and Wheel-running tests and evaluated their relationship by means of linear regression. The correlation is among these tests weak. That means that probably simple running activity of voles does not influence results of Open-field test and is not involved in locomotory side of their exploratory behaviour.
Personality of common vole (\kur{Microtus arvalis}): behaviour in two behavioural tests.
ŠÍCHOVÁ, Klára
The aim of the study was to examine individual differences in behaviour of common voles by the comparison of the results of two behavioural experiments {--} Open Field test and Radial Arm Maze test. Also the usability of the experimental device (RAM) as the aparatur for the study of animal personality was studied.
Personality of common vole (\kur{Microtus arvalis}): behaviour in new environment
ROUBOVÁ, Veronika
This thesis is focused on intraindividual variations. 96 common voles have been searched in Open-field test. I measured total duration, frequency and latency of behavioral components. Following analysis of datas discovered behavioral differences between voles. I assessed some individuals either as extremely shy or extremely bold but most individuals can be clasified between this extreme values.
Comparison of open source database systems
Véle, Marek ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
Goal of this paper was to compare chosen open source database management systems from theoretical and practical point and assess their suitable use. For this comparison I chose MySQL, PostgreSQL and MonetDB database systems. Theoretical comparison involved licenses covering the systems, available support, supported platforms, usable interfaces and data types. In practical comparison I conducted basic installation and configuration in real environment and tested performance of execution of certain SQL queries. One of the aspects of performance testing was to determine the influence of data storing architecture on speed of execution of specific types of queries. Documentation available with the compared systems and official web pages of particular systems served as the main source for theoretical comparison. I conducted the practical part using the linux platform. To access the systems and for the SQL queries input I used the standard JDBC interface. As data for testing I used random data from Open Source Database Benchmark, which I ordered into two similar tables. I defined the test queries myself in order to compare the performance of database systems in whole and in particular fields. I've reached a conclusion that MySQL is suitable for corporate and stand-alone users thanks to wide support, choice of licenses and diversified spectrum of available interfaces and supported platforms. However, its performance in many fields including index creation and ordering of data was very poor in tested configuration. PostgreSQL can indeed discourage mostly corporate users by worse choice of commercial support and interfaces shipped with the system, but these problems are mostly compensated by active community, or third parties. The performance of PostgreSQL was outstanding, I find it suitable for larger data collections and it's fast even in cases when indexing of data didn't take place. MonetDB, as a not well-known while academically developed system, has little chance for a breakthrough outside its field of origin. Its column oriented storage of data proved convenient when selecting very small number of columns. Even without any indexation all test queries were executed with good speed. Individual chapters of the theoretical part are divided based on the compared systems. The practical part only consists of one chapter divided according to order of actions. At the end of each chapter there is evaluation of discovered facts.
