Medical Tourism in the Czech Republic and Possible Involvement of Ministry of Health in its Support
Víchová, Alžběta ; Ševčíková, Michaela (advisor) ; Zeman, Martin (referee)
The goal of this master thesis is to analyze issues connected to medical tourism, to show, how the Czech Republic could benefit from supporting this niche and imply whether this support is worth it. Bearing this in mind, I suggest a plan of medical tourism support, which could be implemented by the Czech Ministry of Health. In the theoretical part, the term medical tourism is defined and it is determined what implications medical tourism might have for both source and destination countries. The legal framework on medical tourism is described and I mention reasons why it should be the Ministry of Health's responsibility to support the segment. The analytical part describes and analyzes in depth the current state of medical tourism in the Czech Republic. A research on the hospitals' position on medical tourism has been carried out. Furthermore, a questionnaire had been sent to embassies of the Czech Republic around the world. Based on discoveries made in the analytical part, I conclude that although medical tourism in the Czech Republic has certain potential, this potential has its limits. The main limit might be that public hospitals have little motivation to seek for revenues outside of subsidies. In accordance with the aforementioned, I suggest a plan on medical tourism support for the Ministry of Health and a budget of its implementation is also established. The thesis also mentions its possible connection to medical export.
Federal health care reform in USA

Federal health care reform is one of the most significant reform for several decades. In addition to substantial changes in the functioning of health care the reform also brings change in a way of perception of health care as a whole. In my bachelor work I am going not only to explain reasons which led the administration of Barack Obama to adopt this fundamental change but also I will mention the most significiant shortcomings. The aim of the work is to give a comprehensive view of the reform and also presents public opinion of American citizens about this reform, one year after its adaption. Method of examination is a critical comparison and appreciation of facts and datas.
Hurst Exponent and Randomness in Time Series
Zeman, Martin ; Trešl, Jiří (advisor) ; Hušek, Roman (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to test the ability of the Hurst exponent to recognise some processes with deterministic signal as nonrandom and to test the randomness of daily stock returns of three stocks traded in BCPP. Critical values to determine the critical region of a randomness hypothesis test were set for this purpose. Another goal of the thesis is the description of the Hurst exponent estimation by means of Rescaled Range Analysis and outline some problems accompanying this estimation if the Hurst exponent would be used as a randomness indicator. Within the frame of Rescaled Range Analysis was constructed another method that showed to be successful in recognising some series that contain deterministic signal.
