Modalwords as one of the modalinstruments in german and czech language

Resumé Cílem mé práce bylo osvětlit zařazení modálních slov v českých a německých gramatikách. Došla jsem k závěru, že v obou jazycích je zařazení odlišné. Zatímco v němčině mají modální slova svou vlastní samostatnou skupinu, v češtině se řadí mezi částice, do podskupiny modální částice. V obou jazycích je dalším problémem vymezení modálních slov od jiných slovních druhů, jako jsou částice a adverbia. Pomocí různých gramatických příruček jsem sestavila přehled gramatických testů, které by nám měli v určování pomoci. V praktické části práce jsem využití těchto testů ukázala na konkrétních případech. Rovněž jsem modální slova porovnala s jejich českým překladem. Většina slov byla přeložena dle očekávání, tzn. modální slova v němčině jako modální částice v češtině. Modální částice vyjadřující jistotní modalitu se však vyskytovala ve více stylistických variantách, například modální slovo vielleicht bylo přeloženo jako snad, možná, pravděpodobně nebo třeba. Pouze jedno modální slovo, bestimmt, bylo přeloženo pomocí konkurenční formy. Key words: modality, modal word, modal particles, speech act
To research the stereotypes in Czech and German proverbs

This bachelor work deals with stereotypes, which occur in Czech and German proverbs. Firstly, the concept of stereotype and proverb is explained. Stereotype is confronted with terms that are related to it (prejudice, discrimination) and some types and sorts are described. Progression is described internationally and also separately in territory of the Czech Republic and Germany in the proverb part. The typical composition of these statements is also mentioned. In practical part, the survey helps to determine the differences of stereotypical opinions between Czechs and Germans (opinions about their and foreign nation). Based on discovered results, proverbs in Czech and German language are arranged into groups. Those are based on typical characteristics, which occur in mentioned proverbs.

Title: Syntactic characteristics (features) of stretched verb constructions in the language of german journalism Summary: This thesis interprets the meaning and the use of stretched verb constructions. The german newspapers "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung", "Mannheimer Morgen" and "Bild" were chosen as the research objects. The thesis is devided in three chapters. The first chapter explains the theory in general and describes the newspapers and the research method in detail. The practical part analyses the use of these verbs in newspapers and shows that their use depends not only on the newspaper but on the region. Lenka Kotvová Supervisor: PhDr. Dalibor Zeman, Ph.D. Pages: 144 The thesis deals with the issue of anglicisms in the German language, being based on the research of their presence in selected periodicals. In the theoretical part the individual linguistic terms are explained. Further, a brief, retrospective overview of the influences on German language is presented. Into focus comes the one these days most widely spread: the influence of English. Contrastive reactions to this phenomenon of both professional and lay public are introduced and attention is also drawn to the comparison of possible benefits and danger of the use of anglicisms. The practical part consists in own research, which comprehensively parses five selected periodicals in the terms of the presence of anglicisms. Both the quantitative and qualitative characteristics are examined and put through diachronic and synchronic comparison. Anglicisms in German Media

Title: Anglicisms in German Media This bachelor thesis examines the occurrence of Anglicisms in the German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung with the focus on the sport and political section. The aim of this thesis is to outline the frequency and the form in which Anglicisms are employed in the sections in question and to what extent they are integrated in the German language. This thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The first chapter of the theoretical part defines and delimitates the term Anglicism. The second chapter deals with the historical development of the German language including the influences of foreign languages. . The third chapter describes Anglicisms from the point of view of orthography, morphology, lexicology, syntax and stylistics. The last chapter of the theoretical part introduces the daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. The practical part is based on the research of the daily Süddeutsche Zeitung. The first chapter examines selected Anglicisms from the sport section, the second chapter from the political section. They are examined from the etymological and linguistic point of view with respect to their integration in the German lexicon. Conclusion summarizes the outcome of this study. Analysis of German youth language from the point of view of phraseology

Purpose of this work is to give insight into the contemporary language of the German youths. First, the phenomenon youth language (Jugend-sprache), communication and social media are discussed. Next chapter is concerned with phraseology, a linguistic discipline that is the base for the practical part of the Bachelor thesis. In the practical part, the phrases are provided with a Czech translation.
Phraseologisms in Austrian Journalistic Texts

The subject of this bachelor thesis is phraseologisms in Austrian journalistic texts. For the purposes of this thesis two dailies Der Standard and Österreich were chosen and the phraseologisms in them were studied for three weeks. However, not all phraseologisms were examined, but only those which appeared in both dailies in columns concerning domestic and international news. The objective is to compare the use of phraseologisms in these newspapers. This study sought to determine, if there are any tendencies to use the same phraseologisms to cover the same subjects or if certain phraseologisms tend to appear in similar columns. Furthermore, the phraseologism were analysed on the basis of the classifications of two prominent German linguists. The classifications are mentioned in the introductory part of the thesis.

It focuses primarily on the relationship of language and culture, from which the language originated. Specifies the individual links, or areas in the language, which the culture is reflected in action in. The work analyzes the relationships within the language.
