i Abstract Contribution to the tectonic interpretation of the seismicity pattern of the Banda Arc, Southeast Asia Tectonic structure of the Banda Arc in Southeast Asia is regarded as an extremely complicated unit as it is situated at the intersection of four lithospheric plates: Eurasian, Indo-Australian, Pacific, and Philippine. The present-day tectonic regime is arc-continent collision. The seismotectonic pattern of the Banda Arc region was studied using global seismological data. Relocated EHB hypocentral determinations for the period 1964 - 2004 and fault plane solutions of Harvard CMT data for the period 1976 - 2004 have been used. The analysis of spatial distribution of earthquake foci and the analysis of focal mechanisms enabled to distinguish the foci belonging to the Wadati-Benioff zone of the subducting plate from those occurring in the overriding plate. The analysis discriminated two opposite dipping subduction zones - southern Banda subduction and northern Seram subduction. The following specific phenomena were observed in the Wadati-Benioff zone: (i) unusual lateral bent of the Wadati-Benioff zone of the southern Banda subduction, (ii) intermediate- depth (100 - 220 km), vertically situated domain of the highest seismicity within the Wadati-Benioff zone of the southern Banda subduction, (iii)...

Supervisor's e-mail address: jz@karel.troja.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The possibility of obtaining a reliable moment tensor using a low-frequency waveform inversion from a single seismic station is studied. Deviatoric part of the moment tensor is described in usual way, using its orientation (angles strike, dip, rake), scalar seismic moment M0 and the double-couple percentage (DC%), and also by means of the coefficients of linear combination of elementary mechanisms. We estimate the formal error of the coefficients and study conditionality of the inverse problem. Data from earthquakes Trichonis (Mw = 5.2, April 2007) and Leonidio (Mw = 6.2, January 2008), Greece, are processed using software ISOLA (Sokos and Zahradník). The moment tensor is calculated from many stations and its stability is tested. This reference solution is compared to those independently obtained from single stations. Synthetic tests are performed to understand why the single-station estimates are sufficient for Trichonis, but not for Leonidio, paying attention to the focal depth, station azimuth and epicentral distance. Modclova porucha je charaklerizovana dvema parametry, casein nasa/cni a amplitudou skoku /rychleni. Postup zpracovani je uka/an na scdmi /emetfesenich zoblasti Korinlskcho /alivu, za/namcnanych na stanicich v Sergoule a Mamousii, spolecne provozovanych UK-MFI-" a univer/ilou v Patrasu. Z vysledku vyplyva, ze parametry poruchy jsou obecne ruzne pro dve hori/ontalm' slozky zaznamu tehoz zemetreseni na dane stanici. Ve zkoumanych pfipadcch mela vzdy porucha na slozce F,W vfil§i amplitudu ncz na slozce NS. V budoucnosti by bylo vhodne mctodu modelovani a odstraneni poruchy, popsanou v teto praci, automatizovat.
