The first skateboarding generation in Czechoslovakia
Fabešová, Iveta ; Houda, Přemysl (advisor) ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to capture the view of the first generation of skateboarders on the emergence and development of skateboarding in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 1980s. The research will be based on two important pillars, i.e. the explanation of the contemporary context in Czechoslovakia, with an overlap into the history of skateboarding in the USA and the qualitative method of oral history that I will use in the second pillar of the research to capture witnesses' memories. Half-structured interviews with 6 narrators, i.e. representatives of the first skateboarding generation, will be carried out within the oral history method. The source of the research will be based on interviews, scholarly literature, period articles from newspapers and periodicals and, last but not least, historical materials such as photographs or videos for a comprehensive study of the subject.

From a methodological point of view, the work will use methods of qualitative and historical research, from a typological point of view the concept of biography will be a science-historical life story with elements on the border of an artistic and scientific biography. Dvořáčková, Magdalena ; Doskočil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis is a research of the personality of the scriptwriter, dramaturgist and director Pavel Juráček in the context of the 1960s. Research is based on methods of historical analysis using biographical research approaches. The main source is Juráček's Diary 1959 - 1974, and the estate of Pavel Juráček, which is administered by the Václav Havel Library. The diploma thesis deals with Juráček's life since joining the Film Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in 1957 until his dismissal from the Barrandov Film Studio in 1971. It follows his screenwriting, publicistic and film production, and his work in the Barrandov Film Studio and in the Union of Czechoslovak film and television artists. It will try to evaluate his place in the Czechoslovak film of the 1960s. It also examines the development of Juráček's relation to the communist regime in the period of liberalization and especially the so-called normalization. The result is a complex picture of Juráček in the 1960s, including both his inner perspectives and his interaction with the outside world.
Rebellious intellectual in changing times - Dominik Tatarka and its involvement in the dissident movement
Kriššáková, Dominika ; Doskočil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to give the most objective and comprehensive view of the personality of Dominika Tatarka primarily from the historical perspective, but also from a literary critical perspective. The view of the creation will, as far as possible, be done in cross-section, with an accent on the autobiographical features of the work, demonstrating a radical view of the communist regime. Emphasis will be given, in particular, to the period of the 70s and 80s of the 20th century with relevant time transitions. The historical perspective will seek to bring the role of the writer's community in the reform movement of the sixties of the 20th century in a wider context and to clarify the specifics of Slovak dissent, with emphasis on the position of Dominika Tatarka in it.
Identity Construction in Biographical Narratives of Re-emigrants
Fürst, Václav ; Mücke, Pavel (advisor) ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (referee)
Abstact The hereby presented study deals with a cross boarder migration of people during the times of communist rule in Czechoslovakia and during the period immediately following the demise of the Soviet domination in Eastern and Central Europe. The study concentrates on those individual migrants who spent a significant period of their lives abroad. This study should elucidate several key aspects of the cross boarder emigration and re-emigration (be that voluntary or forced) as seen by the respective migrants themselves. In particular, those aspects are: how a long-term residence in a foreign country altered their relationship with respect to their home country, what kind of relationship the migrants developed with respect to their new country of residence and what the very act of emigration/re-emigration itself meant in the life of each individual migrant covered by this study. One of the principal issues this study relates to is this: is it possible to consider the identities of individual migrants as having remained "national" despite their long residence in a foreign country or, alternately, is it correct to state that their identities had changed to that of an "emigrant" flavor. In each individual case of the perceived identity change the study attempts to identify the characteristics of the changed...
