Development and applications of ionization techniques in ambient mass spectrometry
Rejšek, Jan ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír ; Cvačka, Josef
Ambient mass spectrometry is a sharply developing subject area. Desorption electrospray ionization (DESI) and desorption atmospheric pressure photoionization (DAPPI) are two types of ionization techniques in the ambient mass spectometry. Herein, they were investigated in two research areas: (1) TLC analysis. (2) Localization of insect defense glands.
Vernix caseosa and its newly discovered nonpolar lipids
Háková, Eva ; Míková, Radka ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír ; Doležal, A. ; Plavka, R. ; Cvačka, Josef
The aim of this work is a description of newly, so far undescribed nonpolar lipids, which are components of vernix caseosa.

Sborník 14. ročníku Školy hmotnostní spektrometrie
Cvačka, Josef ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír
Proceedings of full versions of lectures covering basics of mass spectrometry, ionization techniques, mass analyzers, coupling of mass spectrometry to chromatography, quantification, proteomics, metabolomics and data interpretation.
Desorption ionization techniques
Vrkoslav, Vladimír
The principles of the various desorption ionization techniques are summarized and described. Widely used techniques and their relationship with mass-spectrometric imaging are discussed in details.
Imaging mass spectrometry of cuticular lipids of Drosophila melanogaster
Kaftan, Filip ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír ; Cvačka, Josef ; Svatoš, A.
The spatial distribution of cuticular lipids on the surface (head, thorax, abdomen and wings) of Drosophila melanogaster flies has been imaged and studied using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy.
Methodology of lipid analysis of vernix caseosa using MALDI-TOF MS
Míková, Radka ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír ; Doležal, A. ; Plavka, R. ; Cvačka, Josef
This project is aimed to lipid analysis of intact molecules and optimization of MALDI-TOF MS method for these lipids.
Analysis of plant membrane lipids by RP-HPLC/HR-ESI-MS
Zábranská, Marie ; Vrkoslav, Vladimír ; Cvačka, Josef
Monogalactosyldiacylglycerols (MGDGs) and digalactosyldiacylglycerols (DGDGs) are glycolipids forming the major part of biological membranes in photosynthesizing organisms. The individual species differ from fatty acids linked to sn-1 and sn-2 possition on glycerol backbone. Complexity of their mixtures is increased by enzymatic or chemical oxidation of unsaturated species. The aim of this work was to develop and optimize RP-HPLC/HR-ESI-MS2 methods for analysis of oxidized and non-oxidized MGDGs and DGDGs in plant samples. MGDGs and DGDGs were isolated from Arabidopsis thaliana and Melissa officinalis.
