Znojmo, the Reconstruction of House Malá Františkánská , Nr. 121
Kos, Jakub ; Keith, Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis is based on a studio project created in the summer term of the third year of the undergraduate studies. The task was to restore a building on Malá Františkánská in the centre of the town of Znojmo. The building, which dates back to the Gothic period, has not been used for a long time, which marked its technical condition. There are mostly ruins, since the roof, ceiling structure and parts of the outer walls have collapsed. The best preserved part of the building is the basement that is almost intact. The building in the shape of an L is located at the intersection of streets Malá Františkánská and Klácelova and it complements the local building density. The main idea of the project was to find a new functional use of the building – film and music club complemented by a penthouse. An important requirement was to preserve the remains from the Gothic period – stone masonry, stone fragments of the jambs and two portals, which were used as the main entrance to the building and an access to the atrium. Main part of the design was the completion of the construction, as most of the original structures were in an unsatisfactory technical condition. An important aim of the renovation was to minimize the load on the existing structures, and for that reason a steel frame filled with thermal insulation was designed. The corner of the house between the ground floor and the first floor was designed as an open space, so that a project screen visible from the both floors could be installed. The rest of the building provided premises for the technical and sanitary facilities and other areas necessary for its operation. The attic is designed as a separate apartment with its own entrance.

The Reconstruction, and the Re-use of the St. Thomas Yard in Brno
Janovská, Andrea ; Hrabec,, Josef (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
St. Thomas yard was founded within years 1358-1370 on the street Veveří in the Brno. Its recent location its the same like when it was fouded. Within years 1883-1885 a few new objects were built here in historicist style. New functional sollution is trying to react on the freetime activities demand of students from schools near here. Whole compound is solved as sport-cultural centre. In the current objects there will be clubrooms, in the main building there will be office space. Restaurant in the longer wing will be joined with a bowling in the newly built object. The main architectonic purpose was to keep the natural character of whole area. The most important thing in my proposition was to preserve the structural nature of the objects with the sensitive completion of the compound. That is why I used just simple shapes and all-glass facade, in which the current objects will be mirrored. The area behind these objects would be remade to playground with an intention to keep the natural character of the area with grown trees.

Rehák, Michal ; Šuhajdová, Eva (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The complex of „Svatotomassky dvor“ creates after its reconstruction a place for social, cultural and sport activities. This object is an exemplary joinder of modern technologies and historical elements with the emphasis on its own traditional handcrafted construstion. The spirit of this place leads a visitor to demur to precise work of our antcestors in the contrast with composed modern architecture. The complex is complemented by components of fine architecture (such as pavillon, fountain, …) with undertone and memory of horses which had to be replaced because of new functional utilization. It deals with reconstruction and revitalization of four historical objects. From the constructional point of view it deals with one and two-storeyed objects based on concrete fundaments with bearing walls bricked up from building brick that is fully burnt about total thickness 0,3-0,85m and with wooden roof construction. The roof is covered by burnt tile roofing. The top walls in objects are made of semi-burnt wooden joist construction. Within the frame of reconstruction, predominant part of framework will be preserved.
The Reconstruction, and the Re-use of the St. Thomas Yard in Brno
Jelínková, Barbora ; Hrabec,, Josef (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with reconstruction and re-use of listed buildings of St. Thomas Yard in Brno. Good transport connectivity, pleasant surroundings and proximity of several academic buildings have predetermined this area for a new purpose instead of the inappropriate current one – in the future, leisure time centre offering hobby groups, sport activities, study rooms, gallery, café and parking-site should be sited here. Urban concept consists of building block with a park compound. There are three listed buildings with decorated frontals to be preserved, complemented by brand new lightweight low-profile structures. Modern objects situated next to the historical ones are designed to be transparent by means of suspended glassed-in exterior with distinctive sun shading elements on the south facade. Other buildings are specific for their single-pitch vegetative roofs emphasizing peaceful nature of the park.
