Reflection of Ingmar Bergman's life and personality in his selected productions
Krsová, Lenka ; VINAŘ, Josef (advisor) ; SÍLOVÁ, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis is focused on the main sources of inspiration of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, how they stem from his personal life and how are those reflected in his film and theatre productions. A closer examination of films of Ingmar Bergman shows strong recurring autobiographical elements. I wondered whether we can find a common starting point for them in his personal life. After thorough investigation of literature I found out that director?s childhood, upbringing and complicated family background were essential for the constitution of his personality. These are the sources from which Bergman?s dreams, fantasies and ?demons? came from. This thesis altogether introduces them as the important sources of inspiration and the means through which should be Bergman?s works looked on as well. Emphasis is also focused on August Strindberg?s importance in Bergman?s life and his A Dream Play, which connects the personal life, film and theatre works of the Swedish director. This thesis tries to point out how the influence of Strindberg on Bergman is reflected in his selected films and theatre career, which is further elaborated. Common motifs and themes of dreams, fantasies and ?demons? of both authors and big influence of A Dream Play on Bergman?s work are documented on his two films: Wild Strawberries and After Rehearsal that both summarize Bergman?s life. Because of the scale of this thesis the topic cannot be covered in its full scope, therefore this work may be perceived as a platform for further in-depth exploration. In my opinion, Ingmar Bergman?s theatre career due to his global significance deserves more detailed study.

Myth: Socialist Realism
Brederová, Tatiana ; Vinař, Josef (advisor) ; Boková, Marie (referee)
In my work Ifocus on the socialistic realism drama in Czechoslovakia, which was formed during the period 1948-1956 (playwrights such as Vojtěch Cach, Václav Káňa, Peter Karvaš, Štefan Králik, Ján Skalka...). The aim of my work is to define the unified signs of dramatic works, declared by Andrei Zhdanov, and to analyze the means of mass manipulation in these works. The main part of my work is the analysis of mythological conception of the socialistic realism drama. I do so by comparing the socialistic society and culture with those of Ancient world and Christian society. For this analysis I use the work of Carl Gustav Jung and Karl Kerényi Science of Mythology, as well as the modern interpretation of mythology today in the work Mythologies written by Roland Barthes. In the chapter Socialistic Mythology I look for concrete analogies with Ancient and Christian mythology. For example, I specify the principal signs of mythologies, such as the psychological origins of myths, the myth of the original chaos, icons and rituals in mythologies, morals and the social stratification. By investigating these signs I assume to find analogies with socialistic perception and interpretation of the world. Third chapter is dedicates to the analysis of ?ideolanguage? and ?ideologics?, terms defined by Mikhail Epstein. I analyze the specific vocabulary of communist era drama and the semantic structure. In the last chapter I analyze the concrete dramatic works as a result of further investigation of myth as such. I apply terms of Roland Barthes, such as naturalization and inflexion. These terms are according to Barthes typical for myths and I consider them also relevant for my study of socialistic realism. This way I try to characterize the intention of socialistic garniture to ?engineer human souls?.
Transformation of the Image of Man on Stage
Hanušková, Petra ; Císař, Jan (advisor) ; Vinař, Josef (referee)
In my Master Thesis I try to define the sociological transformation of man on stage based on the selected productions of Hamlet. This method of sociological study of theater was developed by French sociologist and theatre theorist Jean Duvignuad in his study Sociologie du thêàtre, Les ombres collectives. I apply this method on study of three productions of Hamlet, which are considered as turning point in history of Czech theatre. First of them is from the beginning of the twentieth century, when the great tradition of Czech dramatic art is established by Eduard Vojan and Jaroslav Kvapil. The Hamlet of Radovan Lukavsky from 1959 is influenced by the communist era, when there was no place for heroism. The contemporary Hamlet of Jaroslav Plesl deals with the fading postmodern culture and is surrounded by complete nihilism. By the comparison of these productions I try to find the different answers to the Hamlet´s endless question, if it´s better "To be or not to be".
Theatre and Madness (Madman as dramatic Image and social Role)
Bárta, Vojtěch ; Vinař, Josef (advisor) ; Pilátová, Jana (referee)
A master thesis Theatre and Madness ? Madman as a Dramatic Image and as a Social Role is exploring changing images of Madman´s image in theatre and drama of western culture, from antic to the modern ages and in relationship to historical, social and cultural contexts. The goal of the thesis is not the complexity of the research. The thesis is merely interested in selected chapters of theatre tradition, that are partially corresponding with personal creative background, particularly with dramaturgy of a John Webster´s play ?The Duchess of Malfi? in Theatre Disk. The work is aspiring for searching and gaining consciousness of roots of this archetypal image, which is standing at a beginning of theatre creation and represents its deep source and possible danger. This image is intended to be magically fulfilled and overreached by its description.

One and one is two... or one?
Kovalčíková, Jana ; Šiktancová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Vinař, Josef (referee)
To seek or to find? To ask or to answer questions? To rehearse or to perform a play? To be an actress or to want to be an actress? Which is the more important level of being, of approach? One should be inseparably linked with the other. One little particle formed by dozens others. Individuality of an individual illustrated in an image reflected in the mirror. In the first part it is a broken mirror, in the second part a fragment of mirror picked up from the ground, in the third part the broken mirrror put back together, which is neither better or worse - it is simply different.
The Picture of a Woman in Drama of 20th Century - Images of the woman´s emancipation
Musilová, Veronika ; Šavlíková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Vinař, Josef (referee)
This work, on the base of two theatre performances, several dramas and also one novel by 20th century authors, follows up the transformations and variations of the woman character. I pay attention to the woman characters, who want to solve a serious and strong conflict between imaginations of themselves and their lives, and on the other hand limited possibilities to realize them. My point of view is determined by the theme of the woman?s emancipation, which I do analyse and identify on mentioned examples. I am finding out similar as well as different ways and also various levels of emancipation. In conclusion, I recover the key-stone of every, not only woman?s emancipation: to recognize that I don?t have to want more than I am able to, to understand what I am allowed to, to put up with it and to find love to myself; to oneself.
THE TIME THEMES AND THEIR STAGE REALIZATION
Ferenzová, Lucie ; Vinař, Josef (advisor) ; Vedral, Jan (referee)
My work is about time themes and their staging. Under concept ?time themes? I mean themes, which now and here are actual for me and people around me and refer about our contemporary life. First I write about texts and performances, which have influenced me and which I cooperated on; second about my baccalaureate performance. I try to find relations between texts ( by M. Bambušek, E. Jelinek, J. W. Goethe, J. Zeh) and between their realization ? performances. And I try to term whot is timeless in these productions, whot transcends us.
