Music as a public space - New concept of Brno Philharmonic
Veselý, Adam ; Vágner, Lukáš (referee) ; Rusín, Tomáš (advisor)
Entering this thesis was to design a building for the Brno Philharmonic. Brno Philharmonic is still housed in the Fellowship House, which for this purpose does not. Place for the design of the new building of the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra was chosen plot where the current parking lot, which is close to the Guildhall. In 1992 he founded the Association for the construction of a concert hall, which has since been seeking to build Janáček Cultural Centre. Concert hall with excellent acoustics, which is missing in Brno. The first attempt was in 1989, when it was announced architectural competition for a new building project was just prior to the commencement of construction works dropped. In 2003, the Statutory City of Brno announces an urban-architectural competition for the design of the building Janáček Cultural Centre, whose subject was the urban design of the entire area between the streets Besední, cheerful and Hotel International. Entering the competition was also the draft annex of the hotel International. The reasons for choosing this property was the strongest ties to the Meeting House., Position in the city center in a neighborhood with other major institutions, well-connected to public transport, the opportunity to realize the capacity underground parking. This year were started construction work on this place that has become a new building. The overall implementation takes place in two stages. In the first phase are carried out underground three underground floors used for parking. In the second phase confronts Janáček Cultural Centre. This competition for JKC winning studio M1. In the first round of the competition envisaged the demolition substation at the International Hotel and expanding the plot. In the second round it was only a plot parking spot without significant interference with the surrounding space. This version is valid to this day.

Mineralogy of manganese (hydr)oxides formed by weathering of Mn carbonates at the Kutná Hora ore district
Veselý, Adam ; Drahota, Petr (advisor) ; Tuhý, Marek (referee)
The thesis deals with the geochemisty and mineralogy of manganese oxides and hydroxides. The thesis describes chemical, physical and mineralogical properties of manganese oxide minerals. The main objective of the experimental part of the thesis is to try to identify oxide minerals of manganese, which are formed on carbonate veins in the Kutná ore district. The methods used in the practical part are X-ray diffraction and Raman spectrometry. Most of the studied minerals are characterized by broad diffraction reflections, indicating their low crystallinity. These phases most commonly correspond to the mineral todorokite and less commonly to rancieite, manganite and cryptomelane. In conclusion, it appears that several new mineral species have been identified for the Kutná Hora ore district, but the interpretation of these phases was itself quite problematic and the results contain a considerable degree of uncertainty.
Approaches to abandoned quarry reclamation
Müller, Tomáš ; Kuťáková, Eliška (advisor) ; Veselý, Adam (referee)
The disruption of open landscape goes in hand with mining operations. Continuous growth of such disturbed areas, both in numbers and coverage, puts ever increasing pressure on attempts of their reintegration back to the landscape. Different methods and approaches that allow this exist, commonly related to as reclamation. The two main ones are technical reclamation and ecological restoration. This thesis will: 1) introduce individual steps required to be taken in an abandoned quarry in order, to achieve previously defined goals, 2) compare individual methods that are in use today, and 3) explore the potential of abandoned quarries in the context of open landscape. Keywords: reclamation, abandoned quarries, limestone, restoration ecology, succession
Phytodiversity in old fields of different age and management history on agricultural land adjacent to Czech villages in Romanian Banat area
Veselý, Adam ; Kovář, Pavel (advisor) ; Tichý, Tomáš (referee)
The main aim of this thesis was to identify the main factors influencing development and diversity of vegetation on old fields around village Svatá Helena in Romania. I evaluated the influence of age of an old field, its management (mowing, pasture, burning and fallowing), soil chemical properties, topography and surrounding vegetation. Using phytosociological relevés I collected data about species composition and coverage of species of the old field vegetation. With the assistance of local inhabitants I found out the age of the old fields and the type of applied management. I performed chemical analysis of soil properties, determined amount of available phosphorus, total carbon and nitrogen and pH. I also performed floristic survey of surrounding vegetation. The data showed a unimodal trend in plant diversity during succession. The maximal diversity was recorded on 12 years old old fields. The diversity was also influenced by C/N ratio of soils. Growing C/N ratio had a negative effect on plant diversity. Analysis also showed some interesting connections between soil properties and topographic factors. Organic C and N in soils were rising with age of old field, rate of accumulation is higher on slopes. The results showed that soil chemical properties have the highest influence on species...
Vegetation of old fields and its dynamics in relation to changes of arable land in Czech Banat (Romania)
Veselý, Adam ; Kovář, Pavel (advisor) ; Vojta, Jaroslav (referee)
- 4 - Abstract Recent abandonment of arable land close to the Czech villages originated in Romanian area called Banat during 19th century implies new variety of habitats representing old fields of different age. We can observe succesional stages of vegetation variable in plant diversity, in some cases significantly high with a number of plant species valuable from the viewpoint of nature protection. Some of these species were known as common in Czechlands as well, but nowadays are strongly endangered or completely extinct. Among others, the number of pieces of cattle in Banat has been reduced. This is the reason why traditional pastures have been grazed less intensively, especially those situated in hardly available localities (e.g. karst valleys and slopes) and often shared with neighborhood villages (including Romanian ones). The abandonment of arable fields thus facilitates the landuse by the way of more productive pastures with better availability from the villages. Next steps of secondary succession and the lost of traditional cycle of the land cultivation sparse shrubs are becoming an important part of the old field vegetation structure, which moreover have a strong influence on the potential restoration of forest ecosystems. The main aim of this thesis is to asses the process on the abandoning of...
