Deaths in the Psychiatric hospital Kateřinky in 1911-1925 Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with mentally ill people who died in Psychiatric hospital in Prague at the beginning of the 20th century. The aim of the thesis was to analyse the structures of the dead in the Psychiatric hospital Kateřinky in 1911-1925. The analysis was built mainly based on data from register of the dead 1911-1925. Austrian statistics and the Demographic Yearbook were used to compare the structure of the dead in Psychiatric hospital with structures of the dead in Bohemia. Structures of the dead were analysed by common statistical, demographic and geographical procedures, in terms of gender and age, marital status, social status, place of birth, place of residence, diagnoses (causes of death), length of hospital stay and seasonality of death. From the results of the analyses, it was found that the structure of dead in the institute is very specific from the population of the dead in Bohemia in all aspects examined. The population in the Central Bohemian manor of Škvorec from the middle of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the reproductive behavior (nuptiality, natality, female and male fertility, mortality) and the social structure of selected groups of the population of the Škvorec manor in the 18th and 19th century. The Škvorec manor which is located in the territory of today's Central Bohemia was an important agricultural area in given period. The complete nominal excerpts from parish registers were used to find numbers of all births, marriages and deaths. In addition to traditional historical- demography methods (especially the family reconstitution method and subsequent calculation of demographic indicators from family leaves), advanced statistical methods (survival analysis, Cox regression model) were also used for data analysis. These approaches are new in Czech historical demography and bring many advantages, which are presented in the work. The natural change of population development at the manor is compared with the Czech lands as a whole and in more detail with selected rural and urban localities. The results mostly correspond with the population development which was observed in the Czech lands. The number of inhabitants of the manor in the years...
The Hajnal line in contemporary Europe
Chráska, Miroslav ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Velková, Alice (referee)
The master's thesis deals with answer of distribution of countries, which was determined in 1965 in the theoretical concept by John Hajnal, in contemporary Europe. The main aim was to reanalyze the original division of countries using cluster analysis on the basis demographic indicators: average age at first marriage men and women, the average age of a woman at first child birth, the number of divorces per 100 marriages, the proportion of live births in marriage and out of marriage. The data used came from the Eurostat database from 1990 to 2015. Cluster analyzes of European countries were also performed according to the value orientations of their inhabitants in the area of social relations and life expectations. Respondents' statements came from the European Social Survey from 2002 to 2018. Cluster analysis of selected demographic indicators did not confirm two models of Hajnal's concept of marital behavior. Cluster analyzes of respondents' value orientations confirmed the existence of two value approaches to life priorities - a preference for traditionally accepted values and a preference for a dynamic and efficient lifestyle. Keywords Hajnal line, family, marriage, divorce rate, ESS research project, K-means cluster analysis, values

Changes in reproductive behaviour in the beginning of the demographic revolution (example of Staňkov) Abstract The aim of this study is to analyse reproductive behaviour of population in the Czech lands in the 19th century, a period in which demographic revolution began. The research is based on data from Staňkov, a town in southwestern Bohemia, which, unlike the majority of adjacent region, experienced a substantial industrialization in the 19th century. This resulted in a significant population growth during the analysed period. Family lists were compiled from the registers of births, marriages and deaths using the method of family reconstitution. Nuptiality, marital fertility and infant mortality were the main analysed topics. Population was also divided into groups based on social stratification and these groups were analysed to determine, whether their reproductive behaviour differed from each other. The results from Staňkov were compared to other previously studied localities in the Czech lands. This study revealed that in the 19th century changes in reproductive behaviour within social groups were quite small or negligible. Big changes in nuptiality, fertility or infant mortality in the beginning of demographic revolution can therefore be mainly attributed to the shifts in the social structure of the...
