Multivariate volatility forecasts for large portfolios

One deals with the estimation and consequent forecast of the integrated covariance matrix in the context of high-frequency stock price data and high dimensionality regarding the number of analyzed assets. We present several methods for the integrated covariance estimation and then use these estimates as a basis for forecasting models. We mainly focus on the multivariate extensions of the HAR model. Finally, in the empirical study, we compare different model-estimator combinations (based on 5-min interval observation and 50 assets) using economic and statistical evaluation. Economic evaluation is based on portfolio optimization, including transaction costs. 1

Econometric SUR models of dependent run-off triangles in non-life insurance

This bachelor thesis deals with the estimation of loss reserves in non-life insurance. To construct these estimates we use SUR model, which allows to include correlations between run-off triangles, input data. This SUR based model due to inclusion of corre- lations embraces dependencies between each of run-off triangles. Thanks to this extension of standard loss reserving technique it makes our estimates more precise and more corre- sponding to real observations. In this thesis apart from introduction of the model we also elaborate numerical example using different variations of this specific model and lastly we compare SUR based model with standard model for loss reserve estimation. 1

Monitoring výskytu invazních neofytů v povodí Zdobnice (CHKO Orlické hory)

Mapping of selected invasive neophytes along the rivercourse of Zdobnice river, particularly in the part of the river flowing through the protected landscape area of the Orlické mountains, was done within this bachelor thesis. The monitoring took place in July of 2016. A 1:10 000 map was used for recording of the occurrence of above mentioned neophytes into their respective extension categories. 20 fytocenologic images from respective biotops were created during fieldwork. Forest type Groups were then assigned to their respective images. Turboveg 2.0, Microsoft Excel 2016, and ArcGIS 10.3.1 were used for the elaboration of the results, where a map in digital form was created. The most abundant type was Glandular nettle, which occurres mostly in ruderal biotops. Other types, such as Reynoutria japonica or Telekia speciosa participate in the invasions greatly as well. The rest of the taxons from Reynoutria genus were not observed in the incriminated area. The biotop of gravel river bedding was evaluated as the most threatened by the cooperation of Reynoutria, Telekia a Impatiens. When compared to similarly focused works, we can say that Impatiens confirmed its dominant role even in this work, as well.

This thesis deals with the development of technological differentiation for a particular forest district Domašov Arcibiskupských lesů a statků Olomouc s.r.o. The thesis summarizes the design of suitable technologies for each Forestpart mainly according to terrain types. The differentiation was compared with reality at chosen areas. In this case the time-consumption and economic efficiency of the actually used and proposed technology were taken into account. Another point of this work was an elaboration of a proposal for sorting at the central woodstock in Vápenná and a general focus on the economic aspects of sorting in the forest and woodstock.

Assessment of Position of Česká Spořitelna, a.s. within Erste Group

Due to constantly increasing influence of capital markets to private and public sector of economy, we cannot do without the ability of banks and other financial institution analysis in the field of business economy. The aim of this thesis is to assess the position of the largest Czech bank under its parent company and benchmarking with its selected sister companies. To achieve these objectives, we not only use the methods of financial statements analysis, but also analysis of some non-financial indicators. The author's effort is an insight into a bank not through narrowly specialised technical view of banking, but through more complex and universal optics of business economy.

The Cost analysis of the modern way of Punishing

The main objective of this diploma thesis is to compare the cost effectiveness of an imprisonment and a fine. Firstly, the thesis explores the theoretical view of economics, economic calculation, and the view of criminology and penology. Further, the thesis quantifies costs of the most important factors: the cost of realization of punishment, the cost of limitation of economic activity of individuals, the cost of change of health, and a cost of effect on prevention and protection. Lastly, the thesis gives suggestion on convinience of various types of punishment for different types of offences.

Diploma work is engaged in financial analysis of Stavby silnic a železnic, a.s. company. The aim is to pass judgment on company's present financial situation and its progress from year 2001. It is focused on important facts concerning financial health. It warns of possible threats and try to define some recommendations to achieve stability and prosperity. It utilizes theoretical knowledge of financial analysis like horizontal and vertical analysis of financial statements, rules of financing, ratio indicators, pyramidal system of indicators, working capital analysis, basic economic inequality, EVA method and bankrupt models. Company is also compared with a number of transport building companies.

Economics of Prision Service

Práce pojednává o historii a současnosti trestání a věznění jedinců, kteří se provinili proti právním předpisům a ukazuje rozpočtovou náročnost sankcí, kterou se na ně společnost rozhodla uvalit. Analyzuje přitom změny výdajů v závislosti na změnách smýšlení ve společnosti a s tím spojené humanizování trestu. V závěru provedené srovnání prokazuje, že trestání pomocí odnětí svobody je ze zkoumaných možností nejdražší. Vysoké náklady jsou dány především snahou o zpětné začlenění odsouzeného do společnosti jako zákon respektujícího a ekonomicky aktivního člena.
