Plant tissue culture of Juniperus virginiana L. as perspective source of podophyllotoxin

Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacognosy Student: Lenka Srbová Supervisor: PharmDr. Marie Kašparová, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Tissue culture of Juniperus virginiana L. as a promising source of podophyllotoxin. The diploma thesis deals with the cultivation of Juniperus virginiana tissue cultures. A growth was observed at Juniperus virginiana two years old culture (variety 'Glauca' and 'Grey Owl') after adding various concentrations of phenylalanine (1 mmol.l-1, 10 mmol.l-1 and 100 mmol.l-1 ) at selected time intervals. The results show that the highest increase in callus fresh weight was detected at Juniperus virginiana variety 'Grey Owl', particularly on the 14th day after adding 10 mmol.l-1 phenylalanine. Suspension culture was successfully derived from the Juniperus virginiana two years old callus culture (variety 'Glauca').

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is highly prevalent disorder worldwide with increasing number of patients. Several complications are associated with end-stage of CKD, namely infection, anemia and cardiovascular diseases. Infections are probably related to an acquired cellular immunodeficiency, essentially due to T-cell lymphopenia that may result in increased apoptotic susceptibility of T-cells. Anemia generally appears in patients with glomerular filtration rate lower than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 . The red blood cells have shortened life span and are more susceptible to destruction in the uremic milieu. The lymphopenia and anemia have been associated with uremic toxins. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of urea on the viability of T-cells and erythrocytes (RBC), protein profile in RBC membranes, and induction of apoptosis in T-cells in vitro. Fluid intake by adult´s population in the region of the South Bohemia

Graduation theses deal with fluid intake of adult population in South Bohemia. This work is processed in two part. In theoretical part deal with adulthood (developmental stages, physical and psychological changes). Deal with water and meaning waters in body, need for liquids, fluid intake and drinks description. In practical part I devote research when I find how adult population in middle age care about fluid intake, what most often consume , how often consume alcohol, coffee, coke and energy drinks in what quantity.
