The Ritual at Successful Completion of Addiction Treatment in Therapeutic Community from the Perspective of Clients at different Phases

Rituals can be described as ceremonial acts, that have typical rules and own significance. They have their place not only for substance abusers within therapeutic communities, but in a daily life also. Usually, rituals are bonded to traditions of a specific community and they provide a possibility for an individual to identify with this community. They provide also strong emotional experience and they concern spiritual parts of the individual as well. The main objective of this study is to provide a possible view of clients of each stages of final ritual in specific therapeutic community and to find out how it is perceived and valued in a case of a given attitude on their process of own treatment. The elaborated work is focused on emotions which are experienced by clients, whether and in a case how they sense the person, to whom is the ritual addressed, and how they sense therapists and objects which are used during the ritual. In the elaborated work is used a qualitative approach. Data were collected by individual semi-structured interviews. The sample was chosen by a method of intended choice via an institution, it is consisted of therapeutic community White Light I clients, which were present in the community at that time and simultaneously participated on the leaving ritual in this community....

The theoretical part focuses on the possible barriers for starting the treatment, and the factors that are important for change, treat and restoration of the client. It is mainly the individuality of clients (age, his fears, anxiety, lack of confidence and motivation for treatment); drug world, in which the client lives and his drug career; health of the client (including psychopathological complications), social background (regarding the criminal background and his relationship with the others and family) and also factors on the medical company side or treatment program. The paper deals with less researched topic of job related (re)integration of unstabilized drug users. It is a comparative study of two emplyoment agencies - the Prague based PSA SANANIM and Wiena based WBB. Case studies derived from these agencies are compared through the scope of provided social services, methodology of work and other factors that are part of the functioning process of the agencies. The study takes into account different conditions in which the above mentioned agencies operate, specificaly: active policy of employment and setting the national drug policy priorities of the Czech Republic and Austria. Research data are based on research papers and specialized texts in Czech and German languages, statistical bulletins, lessons learned during internship conducted abroad, case histories and dekurses of clients PSA. Conclusions serve to improve methodology of emplyoment consultancy for unstabilized clients. It also detects factors that are so far limiting.
Treatment of addiction in therapeutic community from client's perspective

The aim of my work is to find out of how do residents of therapeutic community (TC) Fénix in Bílá Voda perceive process of treatment of their dependence and services delivered. Also it has been inquired how do they assess effective therapeutic factors used in the process of their treatment in TC (Kooyman, 1993), and how do they comply with abstinence maintenance after treatment completion. Research sample consists out of residents of TC for users in final phase of their treatment who finished their treatment in the first half of 2011 and ex-residents of programme (n = 7). Research has been done with the use of qualitative approach. Data have been collected with the use of semi-structured interviews and consequently analyzed with the use of coding method. In theoretical part definition of therapeutic community for treatment of persons with drug dependence is being discussed. Further, brief history and development of this treatment modality in the world as well as in the Czech Republic is described. The aim of the work is to describe (using the observation) the rite after successfull finishing of the treatment of drug addiction in a therapeutic community and to find out how the client, who has finished the treatment this way, perceives this rite. The work directs particularly at what emotions he has experienced, if and how he has sensed his surroundings and the rite subjects used during the rite. The rites could be characterized as the ceremonial acts which have their rules and meaning. They satisfy needs of emotional experiences and the spirituality of the individual, they are connected to traditions of a specific community and the give to the individual a possibility to identify himself to the community.The therapeutic community uses a plentiful amount of rites, particularly because of the motives mentioned above. The research assemblage is formed by the client of the therapeutic community for drug addicted, who has finished the rite for the succesful finishing of his treatment. Tato práce se zabývá možnostmi posilování rodičovských kompetencí matek, které užívají nealkoholové drogy. Praktickou platformu tvoří rámec systému služeb o.s. Sananim. Téma matek, užívajících nealkoholové drogy, se v ČR ocitá ve středu pozornosti zhruba v posledním desetiletí, přičemž, díky nárůstu počtu klientek, jednoznačně nabývá stále na významu. Po první vlně porevolučního rozvoje služeb pro uživatele nealkoholových drog, a stabilizaci jejich systému, nastal nyní trend specializace na specifické cílové skupiny. Skupina těhotných žen a matek, které užívají nealkoholové drogy, je jednou z nich. Během počátečního období tvorby služeb pro tuto cílovou skupinu bylo úsilí věnováno především na realizaci adekvátní protidrogové péče. Užívání drog matkou však v sobě spojuje dva problémové okruhy - drogy a mateřství. Domnívám se, že v dlouhodobém měřítku jsou efektivní pouze intervence zaměřené do obou sfér. Proto nyní, když systém péče stabilně funguje, by, podle mého názoru, měl další krok směřovat na cílenou a systematickou podporu rodičovství klientek. Ačkoliv by se totiž mohlo zdát, že odpovídající služby pro matky s dětmi jsou v celospolečenském kontextu běžně poskytovány, opak je pravdou. Pro těhotné ženy a matky, užívajících nealkoholové drogy, je totiž běžná síť podporující a rozvíjející rodičovské...
