Cross-Curricular Subjects chosen for biology education.
Čermák, Martin ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Janštová, Vanda (referee)
Bachelor thesis is literature search. It compares cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic with other neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia). As the source of information were not used scholarly articles but also school education programmes of countries. Cross-curricular subjects offer an opportunity to connect most or all school subjects. Themes which mainly cross Biology are analyzed in detail. Cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic are provided only marginally.
Teaching students with specific learning difficulties focusing on science at high schools
Lidová, Lenka ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Kortová, Veronika (referee)
The specific learning difficulties (LD) are nowadays frequently discussed topic, which is still more current even at high schools. Teachers should help these students because of their learning difficulties. LD students are not stupid, they just need a little bit different approach in the classroom than the others. This thesis mainly shows various teachers' approaches to students with LD in different schools and different countries. Because I study teaching biology and chemistry, the work is focused on science subjects and on teachers of these subjects. The aim of this paper is also to propose the basic procedures of working with the LD students for high school teachers with the real ideas of possible adaptations in the science class. In order to discuss approaches to the work with LD students it was necessary to prepare an LD overview at first. To achieve the aims of the work we used methods such as literary research, questionnaire survey and interviews with teachers and students. The theoretical part summarizes basic information about various learning difficulties, different approach to LD students in science, the teachers' and classmates' attitudes to LD in various countries and different approaches to integration of LD students in various countries. The task of the practical part was to identify...
DNA - topic for biology or chemistry?
Andělová, Denisa ; Drda Morávková, Alena (advisor) ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (referee)
This work is focused in teaching DNA. The aim is to determine whether the subject matter of the nucleic acids rather biological in nature, or rather the nature of thechemical. The work is concerned with explaining the concept of nucleic acid and its types and functions, as well as view into the history of teaching about DNA and analyzing the current situation in the CR and abroad. Thematic Unit "Development of Nature" in the Context of Biology Curriculum and Requierements of the Framework Education Programme for Grammar Schools
Šlechtová, Anna ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Markoš, Anton (referee)
The submitted work constitutes an elaboration of a thematic unit "Development of nature" designed for grammar schools in both expert and methodical aspect. Resulting outputs are a web presentation, two short educational films and two elaborated tutorial programmes based on E - U - R model of teaching in the theoretical framework of constructivism. For better understanding and orientation in the curriculum, the look into the past is divided into four zooms: 1) in the scale of milliards, it includes the period from the origin of the Earth until the present; 2) in the scale of millions, it brings closer the Fanerozoicum; 3) in the scale of hundreds of thousands years, it covers the Qarternary era; 4) in the scale of thousands, it corresponds to the Holocene. Elaboration of this thematic unit is tied together with the ongoing school reform. It takes into account the incorporation of Geology educational field into the Framework Education Programme for Grammar Schools and works with key competencies.
Botanical garden of Czech Republic selected for teaching process
Nováková, Eliška ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Mourek, Jan (referee)
Presented thesis is focused on selected botanical gardens in the Czech Republic and their benefits for schools and school teaching. Today, botanical gardens are frequently visited for educational purposes and also for relaxation of people. It is important that teachers know that teaching is not possible to realize only in the school environment. Botanical gardens are an ideal place to make practical biological excursions. According to FEP, it is necessary to teach botany in school. It is important that students know how the plant looks, in which community plant lives and which benefits it has for humans. The expected outcomes mentioned above are important and botanical gardens help with their fulfilling. In my thesis I describe the possibilities that are offered and realized by botanical gardens for school excursions.
An Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching the Mammals
Prušvicová, Alena ; Mourek, Jan (referee) ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with an interdisciplinary based teaching approach in biology, specifically the thematic unit of mammals. The theoretical part examines the difference between inter- and subject-specific curriculum, as well as historical perspective of the issues, not least are given options of how integrated learning can occur. In the chapter "Options of integrated curriculum" a brief characterization of the project teaching is presented and compared with the integrated teaching. The practical part deals with an experimental teaching of two classes at the upper secondary school Postupická. The effectiveness of teaching was evaluated by questionnaires and a semi-structured interview.
