Safety of selected dietary supplements with regard to the content of food additives I.

Safety of the selected food supplements in terms of the presence of additives Additives are commonly present not only in food, but also in food supplements. Safety of these substances remains a question. The aim of the theses is to evaluate the safety of the best selling supplements in the Czech Republic in the year 2011 from the viewpoint of additives and constituents. Given the scale of researched products, I focused on products strengthening the cardiovascular system containing omega 3 fatty acids , garlic, coenzyme Q 10 and lecithin. As a source of information about the content and the presence of additives, the data from the Ministry of Health and the Information System decision of the Chief Hygienist (IS RoHy) were used. The safety evaluation of additives was carried out on the basis of the available methodology for consumers. Information about adverse effects of additives and content substances were searched using information databases Martindale , Reprotox, AltMedDex, Drugdex, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), IPCS INCHEM, PubMed independent commission database JECFA Joint FAO / WHO Expert committee on Food additives. It has not been examined in the Czech Republic for persons who are interested in healthy diet, as a specific group of people yet. Objectives: Primary goal of the thesis was to analyse lifestyle behaviors in persons who are interested in healthy diet and compare the data obtained with healthy eating and healthy lifestyle recommendations. The virus causes benign and malignant diseases of men and women such as laryngeal papillomatosis, genital warts, oropharyngeal carcinoma, cervical cancer, penile cancer and anus cancer. HPV can be prevented by appropriate precautionary measures. The main preventative method is vaccination against HPV. Besides vaccination, regular screening is necessary to detect premalignant changes on time. AIMS The aim of the theoretical part of the diploma thesis was to summarize the information about HPV, the diseases caused by human papillomavirus and vaccination against HPV, the main preventive measure. The primary aim of the practical part was to find out the level of HPV awareness among girls and boys and diseases caused by HPV. There is not enough relevant data on the use of drugs and other therapeutic agents during pregnancy in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work was to identify and analyse drugs, food supplements, complementary and alternative medicine and information sources used by women during pregnancy. Methods An observational cross-sectional survey was conducted in three maternal wards of The Institute for the Care of Mother and Child in Prague. A questionnaire was distributed for 6 weeks during May and June 2015 to all women meeting the inclusion criteria. Comprehensibility of the questionnaire was verified by a pilot survey, these results were not included in the evaluation. An effect of non-specific factors on acupuncture effectiveness in patients with migraine

1 Abstract Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Charles University in Prague Student: Markéta Talácková Tutor: PharmDr. Jitka Pokladníková, Ph.D. Title of Rigorous Thesis: An effect of non-specific factors on acupuncture effectiveness in patients with migraine The aim of this study was to assess whether higher level of expectancy in patients with migraine leads to improvement of their clinical condition after a 12-week acupuncture course and during a 6-month follow-up. Patient's clinical condition was assessed as a number of migraine days and as a reduction in medication consumption. Other non-specific factors were included in this study as well. As the most significant non-specific factors, which contributed to an increased short-term effectiveness of acupuncture, were post-treatment positive expectancy and patient's mental state. However, the effect of positive expectancy decreased with time. The long-term effect of acupuncture was influenced by patient's positive perception of the TCM (Traditional Chinese medicine ) practitioner. Patient's expectancy, patient's relationship with the TCM physician and good mental state played a role in reduction of migraine days. Aim: To assess patients' experiences with acupuncture focusing on the patients' expected effect before, during and after treatment, on the potential change in expectations during treatment and on its potential effect on treatment outcomes, and on the evaluation of the truly perceived therapeutic effect. Methods: Using semistructured questionnaires, we led interviews with selected patients in the period from 19. 9. 2015 to 18. 5. 2016. Rewritten dialogues were afterwards coded in MAXQDA 12 and evaluated using the content analysis method. However, attitudes of pharmacists and pharmacist technicians toward this issue have not been evaluated in the Czech Republic yet. Aim: To assess pharmacists' and pharmacist technicians' attitudes toward dietary supplements, DS awareness, beliefs about DS safety and efficacy, DS use and recommending DS to patients. Methods: This Diploma Thesis was based on research project - pilot survey "Complementary and Alternative Medicine: The Survey of Health Beliefs". The study was conducted through questionnaires. Data were collected in the period from 1.2.2009 to 31.5.2009 in selected Czech pharmacies. The data were processed in the computer programs MS Excel and PASW Statistics 18. From this perspective, the issue of vaccination was not in the Czech Republic yet rated. The work provides an overview of basic knowledge about vaccination. Aim: The main objective of the study was to assess the attitudes of parents to vaccinate their children, to map their knowledge and experience with vaccination and their views on the legitimacy, efficacy and safety of vaccination in the Czech Republic. The operational objective was to determine what changes would be welcomed in this system. Finally, I was interested in whether parents let children vaccinated beyond the compulsory vaccination. Methods: A targeted survey of parents of preschool children, regardless of age and education. For data acquisition method was used questionnaires.
