Training of cognitive function after brain injury with use of Test System Schuhfried
Macková, Lenka ; Oktábcová, Alice (advisor) ; Piťhová, Zuzana (referee)
1 Abstract: Brain injury is a heavy burden on our society and one of the consequences of brain injury is cognitive impairment. Cognitive functions are essential to self-sufficiency and participation in the life of man. The aim of this work is to describe the use of a computer program CogniPlus from Vienna Test System Schuhfried for the training of cognitive functions for patients after brain injury. The theoretical part provides information on the issues of brain injury and its consequences and describes cognitive functions and their disorders. Furthermore, this section describes the options for neurorehabilitation and neuropsychology and there's also described the role of occupational in training of cognitive functions. Conclusion The theoretical part focuses on the use of computer programs and their advantages and disadvantages, and lastly, there is a detailed description of the computer program CogniPlus. The practical part is focused on the possibility to use a computer program for training (CogniPlus) of cognitive function of patients after brain injury. The practical part contains two case studies. Each patient was conducted 10 training sessions on CogniPlus during two months - once and twice a week. Before and after of the therapy series, cognitive tests were performed on patients for evaluation of...
The therapy of emotional and behavioral problems after acquired brain injury
Piťhová, Zuzana ; Kulišťák, Petr (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
The changes in emotivity and behavior are common after acquired brain injury, which complicates the readaptation of an individual to his environment. Compared to cognitive problems, these changes are not so greatly regarded because their complexity requires care in the context of its special neuropsychological treatment. The objective of the theoretical part of this thesis was to elucidate the issue of acquired brain injury and summarize current knowledge and experience in the field of therapeutic work with this specific group of people. The aim of the empirical part of this thesis was to design an appropriate educationally based preventive program that would focus on the experience of personality change after ABI. The goal of this program was to provide patients with information about the usual consequences of ABI and to provide a place to share the problems they experience. The effectiveness of this program was measured via the European Brain Injury Questionnaire (EBIQ) and the Zung Self-rating Depression Scale (ZSDS). The results were compared in the experimental group (N=30) before and after the completion of the program and in the control group (N=30). In the group that undertook the intervention, the EBIQ-P showed significant improvement in the subscale Physical. The ZSDS results showed...
Impact of a cognitive function therapy on people with dementia
Nová, Jarmila ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Piťhová, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis occupies with a cognitive training efficiency with a focus on memory and attention of dementia diagnosed people, especially people with vascular dementia, mixed dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The theoretical part deals with dementia issues and current knowledge on the field of a cognitive and occupational therapy. The main empirical part goal is a determination of the cognitive training by dementia diagnosed people. The next goal is to find out, how much clients are satisfied with the cognitive function therapy. The cognitive function training is made within a period of 8 weeks in social institutions in Jirkov and Chomutov. The research sample is consisted of 24 clients (at the age of 65 and more) with diagnosed Alzheimer's disease, vascular or mixed dementia, they were divided into an experimental and comparative group. Clients are evaluated before the intervention and after the intervention using Mini-Mental Examination test (MMSE), Trail Making test, part A (TMT:A and Swwartz scale of the therapy evaluation (SOS-10). Statistically significant results of set significance rate (p < 0,05) were found by the test MMSE (0,01 < 0,05) and scale SOS-10 (0,02 < 0,05), but the test TMT:A (0,09 > 0,05) hasn't confirmed therapy efficiency from the reason of the small research sample. Those...
Memory disorders assessment in patients with Alzheimer's disease Subtitle: Relationship between memory disorders and selected Activities of Daily Living
Košnarová, Lenka ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Piťhová, Zuzana (referee)
THESIS ABSTRACT Name: Bc. Lenka Košnarová Supervisor: Mária Krivošíková, M.Sc. Opponent: Title of thesis: Memory disorders assessment in patients with Alzheimer's disease Abstract: Objective: The main objective of the thesis was to investigate the impact of memory disorders on self-care in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Another objective of the thesis was to determine whether age of patients with AD affects occupational performance in daily living activities. Methods: The sample was consist of 50 probands (11 men, 39 women), who were diagnosed AD by physician. For data collection was used a questionnaire Bristol Activities of Daily Living scale (BADLS) evaluating self-care and Contextual Memory Test (CMT) for evaluation of memory disorders. Testing the hypothesis was performed by correlation the corrected Spearman correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results: The thesis results confirmed a significant correlation between BADLS scores and CMT scores - immediate recall (rSp = .51; p<0.05), delay recall (rSp = .42; p<0.05), total (rSp = .48; p<0.05). Furthermore, research results suggest that memory impairment occur more with PADLS. There also was no statistically significant relationship between age and performance of activities of daily living (ADL) coefficient (rSp = .07; p<0.05)....
