Compare of the situation of sign language interpreters in the TV news in the Czech Republic and Finland

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of sign language interpreters working in television news in the Czech Republic and Finland. In the introductory chapter, the attention is given to the description of interpretation in television news and its comparison with other types of sign language interpretation. After that the history of sign language interpreters working in television news in the Czech Republic is described. The main attention is given to the News in the Czech sign language (News). Its history of this News is described and the thesis is focused on the work of sign language interpreters in this television program. Attention is given to the whole process, from the admission of interpreters to the description of their work in the News in Czech sign language. In subsequent chapters the situation in Finland is described. As the situation in Finland is different from that in the Czech Republic, the description is conceived differently. A Contrastive Approach in Teaching Czech Language to Czech Deaf

This work deals with the use of contrastive approach in teaching Czech language to Czech deaf, with positives and negatives of this approach and with its conditions of the use. The introduction described a process of language acquisition for hearing and deaf children and there is also described the difference between acquiring the first language and learning a second / foreign language. The work also denotes the causes of low literacy of Czech deaf and the possibility of solving this problem. The inclusion of contrastive approach to teaching could be the solution. Mistake and use it in education of czech language for deaf

annotation: This work defines error and her types, it describes teacher's work with error in education with using informations from literature. One part of the work is questionnaire which shows how teachers work with error, second part is observation in secondary school for deaf. This questionnaire was sent to teachers and responses were obtained in the period March - May 2011, observation was in May and June 2012. Information from teachers and also from papers are included to the example of procedure how teachers can work with mistake. One part of the work is resumption of literature and papers about czech language especially for deaf.
Factors influencing interpreter's performance in educational facility

The thesis deals mainly with all the aspects having an impact on the interpreter's setting at primary and secondary schools and colleges. Whether special schools or mainstream schools with deaf students integrated. In the theoretical part, we can learn about characteristics of educational interpreting, development of this type of interpreting in the Czech Republic and the situation in interpreting in 1991 and since that year until now. Most of the work deals with the individual factors that influence the quality of simultaneous interpretation in general way. From these factors, I chose those that were specific to sign language interpreting in the area of education. To have an idea of what the current situation in the education of interpreters is, I interviewed 5 interpreters - one of each secondary school or college. In the practical part we will find a questionnaire survey of 19 Czech sign language interpreters working in the field of education. This survey aims to determine whether the factors have anticipated impact on interpreters in education during the interpretation process, and if so, to what extent. Grammatical Category of Time in Czech Language Textbooks for Deaf Pupils and for Foreigners

The thesis focuses on the way the grammatical category of time is presented in chosen textbooks of the Czech language for deaf and for foreigners. A small questionnaire survey, establishing which textbooks the teachers actually use in teaching Czech for deaf, whether they work also with textbooks for foreigners and what other materials they possibly use, is included. All the textbooks mentioned in the questionnaires are later analysed from the view of their presentation of the grammatical category of time, separately those for deaf and those for foreigners. In the second ones, inspiration for teaching deaf is being traced. At the end of the work there is an author's draft chapter of a textbook for deaf dealing with a part of the issue of verbs and times. The draft text contains an explanation and few exercises and concentrates on problematic phenomena.
Specifics of Translating Biblical Texts into Czech Sign Language

The bachelor thesis is concerned with the principles of translation of biblical texts into Czech Sign Language. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses Bible translation in general, and more specifically, in relation to sign language translation. It summarises existing findings from studies on foreign translations of biblical texts into sign languages, such as American Sign Language, Japanese Sign Language, Sign Language Lesco. The practical part provides an analysis of the Dictionary of Signs for Christian Concepts for Deaf People and two video translations of passages from New Testament into Czech Sign Language, making recommendations for updates to the Dictionary based on these findings. The thesis then brings together the theoretical knowledge and the present findings and proposes a set of principles and mandatory guidelines for translation of biblical texts into Czech Sign Language. Entrance level of interpreting and language skills of interpreters of sign language

This bachelor's thesis deals with description of language qualification in czech language and czech sign language, description of interpreter's skills of sign language interpreters corresponding with B2 level according to Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR). Its aim is to create the test which tests the level of langauge qualification and interpreter's skills on the base of obtained information and its subsequent using in practice and also support a general discussion about various ways of testing of sign language interpreters. and cooperation among deaf people organizations and professional organizations in our country. Learning Czech language in the 1 - 3 grade of elementary schools for hearing impaired - description of current situation and potentiality of innovation

This thesis is focused on problems of teaching in school subject Czech Language in 1 - 3 grade of elementary schools for hearing impaired. The whole issue is put into the theoretical framework, which delimit specify of hearing impaired pupils education and the goals which this pupils should achieve in elementary education and primarily in language education too. Special attention is paid to problems of teaching reading and writing - ways to acquiring reading literacy in hearing impaired pupils. Presented are methods of teaching reading and writing and I am thinking about their applicability in hearing impaired pupils education. Is given an idea of teaching in school subject Czech Language in Elementary schools for hearing impaired in history (1948 - 1990), in detail I analyze teaching materials used in that time. Current situation of teaching in school subject Czech Language is describe on the grounds of research probe realized in school year 2011/2012 on four selected elementary schools for hearing impaired in the Czech Republic. Biblical personal names in Czech Sign Language

(in English): In biblical times, names had their meanings but these days, we (and not only Czechs) do not perceive them anymore. This is one concern. Names in written languages have been translated or transcribed since Septuagint and Vulgata and therefore, their meanings have been beginning to be lost for the readers. They see just sounds in them. What does it mean in the matter of translating the names of biblical people into Czech Sign Language? And what about their meanings? We do not know much. And that is the topic of this thesis, its goal is to discover the origins of biblical people's sign names in Czech Sign Language and to find out their motivation. The thesis is proceeded from language data gathered through video excerption method from Bible bez hranic (Bible without boundaries) and elicitation method done amongst the deaf respondents from two teams (Prague, Brno). Both teams use identical signs due to their cooperation on the translation, which means the resulting sign names for biblical people must be unified, if possible. In Bible bez hranic project, the differences in sign names usage among the Deaf and sign names used in the project happened to be found.
