Jean Sibelius Violin Concerto - analysis, interpretation, and its contribution to the violin method

Houslový koncert d moll, op. 53 Jeana Sibelia zná jistě každý houslista. Mezi houslovými virtuózy je tento koncert považován za jeden z nejhranějších. Jistě nejen každý houslista, ale i student houslí ho má v povědomí. Ve světě bylo napsáno o tomto koncertu již mnoho a dovolím si tvrdit, že je to Sibeliovo vůbec nejvíce uváděné dílo. Skladatel Jean Sibelius je ve Finsku doposud považován za nejdůležitějšího představitele klasické hudby. Finští hudební historici věnovali rozborům jeho hudby a života mnoho knih. I ve světě existuje mnoho publikací o jeho tvorbě. Například biografie, kterou napsal Karl Ekman. Nejrozsáhlejší dílo o něm je zřejmě pět životopisných dílů, které napsal Eric Tawastjerna1 a vyšly v Helsinkách v letech 1965-88. Tyto knihy byly vydávány i ve švédštině, angličtině a ruštině.

Works by Otakar Ševčík in the Context of Modern Violin Pedagogy.

This M.A. thesis is focused on the personality and work of the Czech violin teacher Otakar Ševčík (1852 - 1934). An introductory historical part describes Ševčík, the individual, based on biographical information and notes from his own students. The following chapters analyze his most relevant works from the point of view of contemporary pedagogical practice. Included are suggestions for the use of this material. This thesis also analyses his work as a whole and describes characteristic features of Ševčík's method. To conclude, Ševčík's influence on world violin pedagogy is summarized.

The Prague Symphonics and the Education of Young Audience

The idea of concerts for young audience came already in the 19th century. It is around 1940, shortly after its foundation, that Prague symphony orchestra started to prepare concerts for a young public. Since 1955 a large serie of concerts under the name of "Morning Concerts For Students Of Prague Schools" saw the day. It became an important part of the orchestra's activities . PhDr. Ilja Šmíd, current director of the orchestra, brought a novelty of family concerts called "Orchestra to touch", later renamed "Music to touch". Another interesting project is the creation of the "Fík Music Club" organised in collaboration with specialist teachers from the Czech Orff Society. Both projects have the purpose to broaden children's musicality and represent the way how Prague Symphony Orchestra educate the young audience.

Psychological Problemacy of Violin Playing

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se pokusila vyjádřit nejdůležitější poznatky získané studiem houslové hry, pedagogiky i vlastní interpretační a pedagogickou praxí. Práce si neklade za cíl zpracování veškerých dostupných údajů z oblasti houslové pedagogiky ani psychologie interpretace. Spíše má poukázat na problémy, které se během studia houslové hry často vyskytují, a nastínit možnost jejich řešení v souladu se zásadami současné psychologie a houslové pedagogiky. Práce obsahuje nejen kapitoly pojednávající o psychice houslisty, ale dotýká se i techniky, veřejného vystupování a výuky, protože všechny tyto okruhy spolu těsně souvisejí. Cílem současné houslové pedagogiky je vychovávat žáky tak, aby z nich rostly v první řadě zdravé všestranné osobnosti. Dále má podněcovat vnitřní motivaci a lásku ke hře na housle. Třetí, nejdůležitější službou houslového pedagoga je příprava žáků na případné vykonávání profese houslisty, kterou si někteří mohou zvolit. Nemyslím si, že by se tento text mohl dostat do povědomí širší pedagogické veřejnosti. Přesto prosím čtenáře o pochopení míry rozpracování dílčích témat. Doporučený rozsah diplomové práce nedovoluje ještě podrobněji se zabývat naší širokou problematikou. O jednotlivých tématech je možné dozvědět se více v publikacích s užším zaměřením.

Psychological Problem of Playing on the Violin

In meiner Diplomarbeit versuche ich, die wichtigsten Informationen, welche ich beim Violin- und Pádagogikstudium sowie durch eigene Interpretation und Unterricht erwarb, auszudrucken. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, die Probleme, die oft wáhrend des Studiums auftreten, aufzuzeigen und im Einklang mit Prinzipien der gegenwártigen Psychologie und Violinpádagogik diesbeziigliche Lósungsmóglichkeiten anzubieten. Der Text befasst sich nicht nur mit der Psyche eines Geigers, sondern kurz auch mit der Violintechnik, der Interpretation, der óffentlichen Auffuhrung und dem Unterricht, weil all diese Themen miteinander im engen Zusammenhang stehen. Die gegenwártige Violinpádagogik hat meiner Meinung nach drei verschiedene Hauptaufgaben. Erstens sollen Lehrer ihre Schuler so erziehen, dass sie als gesunde, vielseitige Persónlichkeiten aufwachsen. Zweitens sollen sie die innere Motivation und Liebe zum Violinspiel anregen. Der dritte und vielleicht wichtigste Dienst eines Geigenlehrers liegt in der Vorbereitung seiner Schuler auf ihren eventuell professionellen Weg eines Geigers. Allen, die diesen anstregenden Weg eingeschlagen haben, wQnsche ich viel Geduld und Gliick und hoffe, dass einige vielleicht auch in meiner Arbeit Hilfe finden.

The Problems of the Left-Handed when Playing the Violin

Diplomová práce pojednává o problematice levé ruky při hře na housle. V úvodu zdůvodňuji výběr tohoto tématu a naznačuji směr, jímž se práce bude ubírat. Po stručném popisu vzniku a vzhledu houslí v první kapitole se věnuji postoji houslisty a držení houslí. Podtrhuji zde přirozenost a důležitost správných návyků od začátku hry. Ve třetí kapitole se zabývám funkcí levé ruky při držení houslí a rozličnými pohyby levé paže, ruky i prstů při hře. Další kapitola se týká intonace, o níž se zmiňuji nejen obecně, ale především z hlediska houslové hry. Následuje nejobsáhlejší část práce zaměřená na jednotlivé složky techniky levé ruky houslisty. Jejich popis doplňuji názory, metodickými přístupy a radami českých i zahraničních houslových pedagogů, které mě zaujaly při studiu literatury. Její seznam uvádím na konci práce. Psané slovo obohacuji o notové ukázky, fotografie a obrázky sloužící k lepšímu pochopení a dokreslení textu. V závěru se zpětně zamýšlím nad tvorbou této diplomové práce.

The Professional Czech Music Company (A String Quartet)

The main topic of this dissertation is professional Czech music ensembles, namely string quartets. The work deals shortly with the development of Czech string tradition. Firstly, it examines music and repertoire of classicism, which was the period when the quartet music appeared for the first time and started to develop gradually. It introduces the first teachers of chamber music of conservatoires in both Prague and Brno, and their pupils who spread further this tradition. Moreover, the work tries to portray the differences between the situations in the two biggest centres, Prague and Brno. This work presents also the music life o f 1900, and it predominantly provides some information on the music organisations at that time: Union for Chamber Music, Czech Association for Chamber Music or Juvenile Club. The most important ensembles of the first half of the twentieth century are introduced; among the discussed ones is The Czech Quartet, then The SevCikovo-Lhotskéf The Heroldovo, The Ondrickovo and The Zikovo Quartet. The Viola and Compositions for the Viola Throughout the Centuries

This thesis deals with viola literature. It covers an outline of historical development of viola and the problems of viola playing. The main part is centred around the music written for the viola. There is an outline of instructive pieces for the viola that are used in Czech music schools. The part that concerns individual epochs of music development and their contribution to the viola output is focused on solo output and chamber music. The aim of this thesis is to provide readers with the insight into the compositions written for the viola from Baroque until the present day and is to facilitate the orientation in the output for the viola. The thesis informs readers not only about works composed for the viola, but also about the problems of viola playing. However, this work does not aim to be an exhaustive list of all works for the viola. It rather tries to cover the works that may be used at all levels of artistic mastery and that are still played in concert halls and music schools. Zabývá se otázkami psychického a hudebního vývoje dítěte předškolního věku, role dětského pedagoga, úlohy rodičů při výuce a vhodným věkem začátku hry na housle. Autorka seznamuje čtenáře s vlastním metodickým postupem výuky hry na housle, houslovými školami pro děti a názory kolegů z učitelské praxe. The Woman and The Violin - Problems in the Pedagogy of Music

My diploma thesis, "Woman and violin - problems o f musical pedagogy", deals with women's contribution to violin arts as a certain profession area. It specializes in both its educational and purely practical function, represented by playing the violin itself. It is bringing closer the effort o f female violinists throughout the whole violin arts history. This work is divided into several parts. The firts one deals with the development and history o f world's female violinists1 activities before the beginning o f the "recording period" - up to the begining of the twentieth century (Wilma Maria Neruda, Teresa Milanollo, Teresina Tua and others). Furthermore, this work is also focusing on world's female violinists occuring after the beginning of the "recording time - from the beginning of the twentieth century up to the present - mentioning Maud Powel, Marie Hall, Erica Morini, Ginette Neveu, Ida Haendel, Kyung Wha Chung, Anne-Sophie Mutter and others. The second part tells about the Czech female violinists throughout the history up to the present - referring to Kitty Červenková, Marie Hlouňová, Bedřiška Seidlová, Nora Grumlíková, Hana Kotková, Gabriela Demeterová and others.
