An assessment of returnability of solar collectors installation in low-energy family house
Hrbata, Jiří ; Pešek, Martin (referee) ; Jaroš, Michal (advisor)
Increasing of standard of living, automation and mechanization of production and industrial growth lead into energy need growth. At the same time the energy prices continuously rise and it is still more preferable to use renewable energy, particularly solar radiation. This thesis contains basic information about usefulness of solar radiation, solar collectors and ways of their integration into heating systems. Particularly, it deals with the assessment of returnability of solar collectors instalation in the low energy family house. It contains calculations of necessary heat for heating, hot water heating and energy gains from solar collectors. Returnability assessment is demonstrated on concrete example.
Methods of prediction Customer Lifetime Value
Pešek, Martin ; Jašek, Pavel (advisor) ; Novotný, Ota (referee)
This bachelor thesis covers methods of predicting customer lifetime value. The thesis is focused on predictions for non-contractual settings with use of Pareto/NBD and BG/NBD models. The first part presents concept of customer lifetime value, possibilities of use in Customer Relationship Management, benefits from application of this concept and factors which have influence on predictions of customer lifetime value. This part of the thesis further covers customer lifecycle, influences of data quality on these predictions and customer value. In the next part there are explained basic assumptions of Pareto/NBD and BG/NBD models. This part further explains about data requirements and which outputs are provided from these models. Following with the explanation of customer lifetime value prediction process and use of gamma-gamma spend model for calculating the average transactions values. In the following part of the thesis CRISP-DM methodology is applied for use of the dataset from electronic retail. The thesis covers phases of this methodology. Main part is dedicated to understanding the data and their preparation for the following predictions of customer lifetime value. Then estimation of parameters is done and subsequently comparison of predicted customer behaviour. The final part covers predictions of customer lifetime value and customer equity. This part is focused on simulation of predictions for selected customers with different transactional behaviour and creating segments of customers depending on their lifetime value. The thesis thus provides the whole process of customer lifetime value prediction and comparison of Pareto/NBD and BG/NBD models with usage of real customer data.
Evaluation of municipality financial needs in Czech republic
Pešek, Martin ; Peková, Jitka (advisor) ; Henych, Václav (referee)
The diploma thesis describes and evaluates system of fundamental territorial administrative units -- municipalities -- financing. First theoretical part of the thesis deals with explanation of basic terms in this field, second part includes comparative analysis of an administration of theree selected municipalities. Those vary in the area, number of inhabitants as well as in quantity of administration they perform. The analytic part is focused on the characteristics of revenues and expenditures which flow to/from budgets of municipalities, their structure and amount both in absolute and relative numbers. Data from years 2006 -- 2010 were used for this purpose.
Death and dying acceptance by people with experience of non-ordinary states of consciousness
PEŠEK, Martin
Non-ordinary states of consciousness have been presented for a long time and currently, when the spiritual side of the human existence is left out, the states of consciousness turn to its regeneration. This thesis is focused on the resulting changes in human life after passing the non-ordinary state of consciousness and especially regarding the changes in attitude towards death and process of dying. In the theoretical part, I have described the problem of death and the process of dying from the cultural, medical, psychological and theological view. I have presented the basic and extended model of the human psyche, the knowledge of which is essential in understanding the non-ordinary states of consciousness. Next, I have specified the concrete definition of non-ordinary states of consciousness and I have dealt with the extended description of those matters, when the human being is not directly touched or not during the experience with dead or dying. The last theoretical chapter goes into the therapeutic potential of the described non-ordinary states of consciousness. The goal of this thesis is to catch the significant similarities of the body and point its transformative effect on the personality of the human being, especially in the matters of basic existence. In order to achieve this goal, I have chosen the qualitative research strategy with the elements of phenomenological research. This semi-structured interview was defined as a method for collecting the data. The research file represents seven respondents with their own experience of a non-ordinary state of consciousness, especially near-death experiences, holotropic breathwork and psychedelic experiences. The results of this research have shown the significant changes in the lives of people who had this type of experience in question. The changes in their respective lives have also resulted in the reduction of the fear of death or dying of these individuals. The results from these findings have significant implications for the psychotherapy. It is mainly aimed at those therapists who have contact with people suffering from death and who have anxiety about dying.
Harm Reduction services at indoor or outdoor dance events
PEŠEK, Martin
The environment of dance events brings, apart from entertainment, considerable risks and stress to those who attend these events. This does not concern only the easy availability of drugs in this environment. The individual person is exposed to further external factors that may, directly or indirectly, endanger his / her health. The main task of services provided by Harm Reduction in the environment of dance events by field programmes of non-profit organizations fulfilling tasks of the state antidrug policy, is to minimise and not to eliminate these risks. The theoretical part is focused on defining the term of ``Harm Reduction{\crqq}. It explains to the readers not only the general principle of the model, but also acquaints them with specific services, such as testing tablets of synthetic drugs that become available to visitors to dance events. Further, this thesis presents characteristic features of the environment of dance events, informs on the development and the present state in the Czech Republic. It informs comprehensively on the most frequent psychoactive substances that are overused in this environment and the risks thereof. In the final chapter, I deal with the term of the safe dance event environment, which is based on Czech and foreign recommendations by government organizations. The objective of my thesis was to compare the provided services, with a subjective view of the recipients of these services. The objective of the thesis was fulfilled. The first hypothesis confirms that the presence of the Harm Reduction services is positively viewed by over 70 per cent of the participants, as part of a safe environment of a dance event. The second hypothesis confirms that the continuous enlargement of the programme with new services, including services already cancelled, is positively viewed by the participants in dance events. I used the quantitative method for the investigation. The data were obtained by means of anonymous questionnaires. The research set comprised sixty participants in dance events in the towns of Pilsen, Prague and České Budějovice. The results of my thesis could be sued as a feed back for field programmes applied in the environment of dance events. The thesis points out topical problems and suggests possible solutions and starting points for the future.

Global FTTx market
Beníšek, Jan ; Šalamon, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pešek, Martin (referee)
This master thesis focuses on the worldwide optical connection situation.Within the respective regions of Asia-Pacific,the Americas and Europe, it identifies the main countries and focuses on the situation and share of FTTx subscribers in them.It tries to answer the question of what technologies are represented the most on particular markets. Within each country, two service providers are chosen and their offer analyzed. For an overview, the price offer for an Internet connection with the highest transmission rate and the price for VoIP service are provided. The analytical part uses the obtained data from individual countries and regions for a price comparison and market forecast. The price comparison deals with the price level of a standard connection in relation to GDP per capita in PPS.This comparison enables the discovery of how expensive the Internet connection via FTTx is in a particular country.Furthermore, the analytical part, in relevant countries, focuses on the calculation of the ratio of costs for the yearly use of a FTTx subscription in relation to the disposable family income. The highest ratio-8.37%-was recorded in India. The thesis also includes a market forecast in the horizon of the end of 2009 and 2010 for the most important countries. For each country, the main growth factor is identified and subsequently the development for the entire year 2009 and 2010 is forecast. The worldwide forecast is 61.37 million (as of the end of 2009) and 72.67 million (as of the end of 2010) FTTx subscriptions. The contribution of this master thesis is the analysis of in what state of development the market of Internet optical connection is in the most important countries, with price comparisons and a market forecast constituting further contributions.
