Contact microphones and their use in film practice

The goal of this thesis is to introduce its reader to the problematics of various types of contact microphones in the field of film production. Rather than on technical specifications, it is focused on practical aspects of their use. It is dealing with specifics of handling such microphones, characteristics of the sounds recorded by them and with the possibilities of their use regarding the dramaturgy of films‘ soundtracks. Practical part of this work contains examples of these sounds as a demonstration of the claims, that I am introducing throughout this text.
Implementation and sound conception of audiovisual installation Golem Cube

This thesis called "Realization and sound conception of audiovisual installation Golem Cube" focuses on conception and sound design of multimedial interactive video installation and includes information about first suggestions, realization of project and final installation of project. The project was created for Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2015. This work is a complex report about sound component for four screen installation in three dimensional space and I especially concentrate on practical specifics of this project which are different from ordinary film production. I analyse important steps of realization of project and suggest other possible altenatives.
New Method of the Optical Record and Reproduction of the 16mm Film Sound-Track

The work deals with the recording and reproduction of sound tracks on 16mm film and with old forgotten film optic sound technologies, as well as plans experiments and research, which examines possible methods for reading and writing tracks using modern optoelectronic devices. The final output is intended to drive the writing negative audio (analog and digital) on the photosensitive material and design of the device for synchronous playback of digital audio tracks from an external memory card. The work is done in collaboration with film laboratories Barrandov Studio a.s. and Meopta-Optika, spol. s r.o.
Digital restoration of optical soundtrack

The main topic of this thesis is restoration of optical soundtracks on films. The thesis includes rough introduction of historical evolution of technical means of film soundtracks as well as problematics of optical soundtrack reading, restoration of optical domains of soundtracks and postproduction restoration. Postproduction phase of the restoration process is demonstrated on a specific restoration example of the film "Ostře sledované vlaky" soundtrack. A brief discussion about specifics of the film restoration field is given at the end of the thesis.
Theremin - emotions in movies

This thesis trys to figure out in which way is used the sound of theremin in film music. After the historical introduction and physical basics of principals which allow functioning of theremin, follow the analysis of three movies from the 40s. and 50s. which use the sound of theremin for explications of concrete emotion. However, it shows up, that this films create a new cliche from the sound of theremin and it would be difficult to overcome it; therefor, the next chapter looks for another creators who use theremin in a different way a recreate the conotation of it. At the conclusion is a short outline of following development of theremin.
Infrasound

Compilation of information about the natural and artificial sources of infrasound, its physical properties and the infrasound propagation through the environment. The overall context is the impact on the human organism, measurement and analysis of the infrasound and infrasound possible impact to the quality of a sound recording.
Problematics and technical possibilities of sound in shooting with DSLR cameras

This diploma work is focused on problematics of sound in cooperation with DSLR cameras. It analyzes technical specifications of sound in the cameras and evaluates their pros and cons. It desicribes technical possibilities and realization variations of sound in concrete phases of creative process, from planning to postproduction, considering type and character of audiovisual product. This all is in context with phenomenon of rapid depevelopment of digital technology and its effect on level of professionality and workflow in audiovisual production.
Sound Design in Computer Games

This paper describes the sound design in computer games. It focuses primarily on the procedures and technologies commonly used in the development of 3D games and highlights them in the entire creation process of these games. It also points out the differences and specificities of this field, especially compared to the creation of film sound. The goal of this paper is to provide a general overview of the work of sound designer during the creation of computer games.
Aspects of building the sound design of film sound track

This diploma theoretical work is designed as an insight into the dramaturgical process of building film sound track. The first part deals with transmission of audiovisual information to the audience and its way of perception. The second part deals with specific phases of dramaturgical work. It focuses primarily on postproduction, particularly on issues of creative sound editing. Numerous audiovisual demonstrations are attached.
Utilization of Virtual Instruments in AV Works

he main aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce possibilities and utilization of virtual instruments in sfx sound design in audiovisual works. The intention is to afflict an evolution of virtual instruments and their forms and formats, in which can be produced. This thesis goes throught the theory of electronic sound producing and processing too. The last part describes concrete examples of virtual instruments as well as their sound possibilities, which is illustrated by sound samples.
