Services in the WTO and developing countries

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the importance, influence and role of developing countries in the WTO with focus on the General Agreement on Trade in Services and on the example of the developing country India evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the country's participation in GATS. The first part of the thesis is devoted to developing countries, the world trade in services and the services liberalization, both at general level and under GATS. The second part deals with the status of developing countries in GATS, their role, importance and participation in the current round of negotiations. The last part analyzes India's position in the WTO and GATS and deals with the education sector. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the country's participation in GATS are assessed.

The first chapter of the thesis is dedicated to the company PETROF, its history, present and production of acoustic pianos. In the second chapter, the thesis describes the world market of acoustic pianos, PETROF's position on this market and its competitors. The third chapter follows up the theory of international marketing strategy on the example of PETROF. The company's most important sales market are listed in the last chapter, where a recommendation is given.
