Hannah Arendt's concept of thought and action

The present thesis follows the distinction made by Hannah Arendt between the life of the mind and vita activa. In her earlier writings, Arendt presents acting in concert as a supreme human possibility. The devaluation of active life in the Western tradition is seen as related to the subordination of the experience of action to the experience of thought, which presupposes a turning away from the world of phenomena and plurality. With respect to the ability to act, Arendt understands thought as marginal or even detrimental. On this note, she contrasts thought with opinion, a specifically political attitude bound to the experience of action and plurality. Following the process with Eichmann, however, this image saw a revision. With the collapse of the public sphere, the dependence of the ability to tell right from wrong on the activity of thought became more prominent. Subsequent considerations therefore shift to the sphere of the mind. In the light of the corpus of Arendt's works, the present thesis enquires into the nature of mental acts required for adequate action. The first part presents political thought within the situation of plurality. I když každé literární dílo samou svou podstatou přesahuje konkrétní historickou situaci, v níž vzniká, a tudíž múže být čteno a interpretováno v odlišných souvislostech, je zároveň součástí živého proudu myšlení určitého společenství, z něhož se napájí a do něhož se samo včlel1uje; autor je k jeho sepsání obvykle podnícen určitými historickými okolnostmi a obrací se k okruhu možných čtenářú. s nimiž sdílí určitý kontext a u nichž předpokládá určité předporozumění. Právě kontext, který byl autorovi i předpokládaným adresátům jeho díla v určité historické situaci natolik samozřejmý, že ho nebylo třeba výslovně tematizovat, se však v dúsledku časového a kulturního odstupu rozpadá a musí být rekonstruován, aby dílo mohlo ke čtenáři promluvit v jeho vlastním, do jisté míry odlišném kontextu. Porozumění literárnímu dílu, od jehož vzniku nás dělí dlouhá staletí, tak vždy předpokládá zasazení do živého pletiva kontextu, v němž se zrodilo, tím, že je příslušný text uváděn do vzájemných souvislostí s jinými dochovanými sedimenty minulosti. Jak naznačuje již samotný titul Adversus Arium, jímž opatřil soubor pěti hlavních spisů z corpusu Victorinova theologického díla jeho vydavatel J. Sicard v první tištěné edici z roku 1528 - v návaznosti na Jeronýmovo svědectví, dle něhož Victorinus "napsal po způsobu dialektikú1...

Growing of energy crops - yield parameters

Thesis deals with renewables resources, potential of biomass and plants phytomass. We focused on the cultivation of selected energy crops, as perennial grasses Elymus elongatus (subsp. ponticus, cv. Szarvasi-1), reed canary grass, miscanthus sinensis and annual crops of maize and sorghum. The practical part is aimed to the establishment of small plot trials with a variety Szarvasi-1, reed canary grass and miscanthus. We described the methods of field experiment establishing with crop Szarvasi-1 of their treatment and harvest. The results of our own experiments we compared with the literature data. The last part deals with the economy of growing selected crops.

Food Legislation in EU and The Czech Republic in Years 1990 - 2009

This thesis is focued on the food legislation isme in the CR and the EU in the period 1990-2009. First part deals with food legislation in the form of technical standards. Second part shows the development of food legislation in the CR before accessio to the EU and summarizes the main legal provisions relating to the food. The next section describes the EU food laws and shows the implementation of EU regulations and directives into the Czech legislation after accession to the EU. Systems authorities supervising food safety are reported. Last section is devoted to current food legislation.

Sameness and Otherness in the Neoplatonic Metaphysical Systems

The article is concerned with the adoption and transformation of Plato's doctrine of the genera of being by the Neoplatonic authors: Plotinus, Porphyry, Proclus and Marius Victorinus. The inquiry is focused on the role of sameness and otherness in their metaphysical systems. It is argued that in the late antiquity existed a parallel tradition to the Neoplatonic mainstream. This parallel tradition departed from the main Neoplatonic line i. a. by its specific concept of otherness. This variant concept of otherness contributed to a deep transformation of the Neoplatonic metaphysical system which in this form could serve as a suitable model for the Christian doctrine of Trinity.
