Coaching of athletes. A probe to using Grid method

This thesis deals with the coaches' leadership styles. The theoretical part is focused on factors which influence cooperation between a coach and an athlete and it also outlines some of the well-known leadership theories. It analyzes the Leadership Grid® theory, because the questionnaire based on this theory is applied in the empirical part. The second empirical part applies both qualitative and quantitative methods. The aim of the study is to show how the particular leadership styles are exhibited in the sport domain and which style is the most frequent among coaches. In addition, various aspects are taken into account: type of sport, gender differences, differences of the leadership styles between successful and unsuccessful coaches and between managers and coaches. It can be concluded that there are statistically significant differences among different kinds of sport and between the leadership styles of managers and coaches. The most frequent style seems to be the 9,9 leadership style. Last but not least it was stressed that the leadership style is not the only factor affecting the leadership of a particular athlete.

Values and motivation of criminal-law barriesters

This dissertation deals with values and motivation of barriesters active in the sphere of criminal law. The work itself concentrates above all on such values that have much broader functions in the personality of man than mere motivation. The dissertation shows in the theoretical part the theme of values from the point of view of various theories and also the relations between the values and personalities or their other motivational components. Simultaneously value research methods are introduced here as well as their usage in practice. The goal of the empirical part is to show specifics of value orientations of barriesters, men and women, active in the sphere of criminal law which considerably differ from the characteristics of ordinary population or which strongly differ depending on gender. A group of barriesters (regardless of gender) shows in comparison with ordinary population distinctive preference of the social values type and the overall value profile differs to a high extent in the questionnaire Study of values from the ordinary population especially the profile of female barriesters. The sympathy and the antipathy in the interpersonal relationships

Central for this work i s a study of the emotions - sympathy and antipathy - in the interpersonal relationships. Our goal was to find out, how would normal people alone describe them. The theoretical part deals with the psychological base of metodology, meanings and researches of sympathy, antipathy, mental representation, prototypical and script approaches, and emotins in interpersonal relationships in general. The empirical part contents two stages of the research. In the first stage the list of the emotions, the thoughts, the behavior and the characteristics of a typical person is gained. The results describe emotions in their variability and give quite complex image ofthe typical personality, the cognitive, behavioral and emotional features conected with described concepts. From these freely given statements was made a list of features typical for sympathy and antipathy. The second stage contains prototypical ratings of the items from the list. In spite of only few mentions of sympathy or antipathy in the psychological Iiterature, ordinary people were easily able to say, weather a feature i s a good or a weak example of the sympathy and the antipathy. Law Faculty students - values, motivation and relationship to criminal law

The thesis deals with the values and motivation of Law Faculty students. It focuses primarily on values and their functions in the personality of a person - motivational as well as other. ln the theoretical part values, relations between values and personality or other motivation elements are considered from various theoretical points of view. Methods for value research and their use in practice are described. The aim of the empirical part is to point out the specific value orientation in Law Faculty students. Their orientation is considerably different from that of ordinary population. It also differs in men and women. A complementary aim of the thesis is to outline characteristics common for law students and lawyers who practice criminal law. ln comparison with ordinary population law students (regardless their gender) have strong preference of social and economic value types and their overall value profile in the Study of Values questionnaire is considerably d ifferent, especially in female students. In some value profile characteristics of the Study of Values questionnaire similarities of female law students' and male ordinary population's results, and in law male students' and female ordinary population's results have been found. Ideal partner preferences for long-term relationship among high school students This diploma work deals with the question what personality characteristics qualities demands young people wish at their future ideal partner for long-term partners relationship. In theoretical part there are pieces of knowledge about developing period of adolescence attractivity and about required qualities at ideal partner adult age. The aim of empirical part was to find out which qualities and demands dominate in ideas about ideal partner at nowadays Czech high school students and how these demands change due to gender and age. The profile of ideal partner was found out whith using prototypical approach and was realised into phases. The result of the research is image of ideal partner among high school students made up of ten the most required qualities and characteristics: ,,faithful", ,,give support", ,,sincere", ,,tolerant", ,,takes care of the family", ,,reliable", ,,friendly", ,,reasonable", ,,responsible", ,,non-drinker". Current trends in the field of child bilingualism

The subject of this diploma thesis is the natural bilingualism in children. In the theoretical section, the work has the objective of providing a comprehensive overview of the current perspective on issues of bilingualism, with emphasis on summarizing the latest studies and research. The empirical section of this diploma thesis is drawn up as a mapping study. The data are analyzed with the aid of qualitative research methods. The sample of twenty Czech-German bilingual families are studied for their strategies of bilingual upbringing, the parents attitudes towards languages and respectively bilingual upbringing, and the proportional representation of these languages in their children s everyday life. The principal method of collecting data from the parents in this regard was by a questionnaire. Further The Active Vocabulary Test ASWT-R was conducted on twenty-five pre-school children from these families, to determine to what extent Czech and German language development in these children is well-balanced or if alternatively one of them is dominant. Interpersonal relationships and social network in terms of stay in foreign culture

The main subject of this Diploma Thesis is a description of psychological aspects of staying in foreign culture with focus on interpersonal and group processes and their influence and importance for the stay in foreign culture. Central theme of interpersonal relationships and social networks formation is discussed in terms of stay in foreign culture with regards to new forms of electronic communication and its characteristics. This Diploma Thesis focuses on social networks formation and its process and dynamics in electronic communication environment in contrast to real environment. Furthermore, it applies to interpersonal relationship changes, maintaining original far-distant relationships and formation new ones through electronic communication when being in foreign culture. Empirical part of thesis concerns a study of a degree of psychological and sociocultural adaptation with emphasis on electronic communication and its influence of interpersonal relationships and social networks when being abroad. Psychological aspects of reentry from LLP-Erasmus

This rigorous thesis focuses on the psychological questions of reentry from the foreign studying programme LLP - Erasmus. The theoretical part of the thesis deal with psychological aspects of intercultural adaptation and mainly readaptation which consists of cognitive, affective and behavioral dimension. The attention is especially give to the reverse culture shock: to its definition, readaptation strategies and survey of its research. At the theoretical part, the factors which influence process of intercultural adaptation/readaptation are also introduced. From the introduced factors, this paper mostly focuses on the influence of the five - factor structure of personality because this concept of personality is seen as crucial at the questions of intercultural adaptation/readaptation. This thesis also analyses design of reentry training which returning students could take part in. At the empirical part, there were tested variables which influence reentry from LLP - Erasmus. 81 students who study at Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague and who attended LLP - Erasmus in the academic years 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 participated on the research. Selection of partner with special regard to primary family

My thesis is focused on influence of primary family to life partner selection. The thesis goal is to show reader integrated overview of information regarding this topic. Theoretical part contains four main chapters focusing on family and marriage definition (or partnership), love and partner choosing. The thesis stress family importance for personality formation and for life partner selection. Definition of love is determined as well as introduction of some theories of love and life partner selection. In practical part, there is psychological research and evaluation of started goals and hypotheses based on it. Aspiration was to find out, if there is any influence between opposite sex parent characteristic and partner selection. Within the scope of this research, there was established relation between partner selection and mother dominance characteristic.
