The Socioeconomic Status of Parents of Children Hospitalised Due to Injury in the Paediatric Ward
MIKEŠOVÁ, Jana
Accidents pose a significant problem of public health care systems. According to statistical data more than five million people die of accident injuries worldwide. Currently, the accident issue has enjoyed a special attention. Injuries of children are considered the most severe enemy and at the same time the most frequent death cause in children and young adults and the third most frequent cause of death in the population as a whole. In the Czech Republic, accident injuries result in 300 child deaths and 3000 permanently handicapped in a year. In my diploma work I have focussed on accidents at an early age, which currently occur more a more frequently. My research has dealt with children who tend to be prone to accident risks. The objective of my paper has been to monitor the circumstances of child accidents in the course of the calendar year 2010 in children staying in the paediatric ward and to find out whether the socio-economic status of a particular family has an impact on the accident circumstances. The theoretical section of my work contains a description of the individual accidents which are typical for the population of children and the practical section consists of an evaluation of statistical data, which I have collected using secondary data analysis and case studies of children staying at hospital as well as a questionnaire interview of parents. The quantitative research shows that the most frequent cause of a hospital stay of patients in the Paediatric Ward of the Český Krumlov Hospital in the course of 2010, as a result of an accident, were falls, fractures, contusions without head injury, the second most frequent cause of a hospital stay were head and brain injuries, the third place was occupied by injuries of the body surface (wounds, skin abrasions, bruises). It has been found that the most frequent accident occurrence circumstances are connected with children´s play without the supervision of their parents, then accidents occurring in relationship with sports activities and finally traffic accidents (bikers and in-line skaters). Based on testing the hypotheses, the research has further shown that the socio-economic factors or the family status tend to have an impact on the circumstance under which the accident happened.
Childhood nonorganic Enuresis
MIKEŠOVÁ, Jana
My bachelorship paper deals with the impact of a chronic disorder {--} enuresis nocturna. I have concentrated on bed-wetting which is of non-organic origin and thus the cause of enuresis is not to be found in the pathology of the urogenital tract. The objective of my paper has been to detect how the children of the studied group from the nephrological practice of the Paediatric Ward of the Hospital in Český Krumlov experience their disorder (bed-wetting without an organic cause) and how the parents of these bed-wetting children comply with the recommendations of the physician {--} the preventive- therapeutic measures within the enuresis treatment. The theoretical part of my paper is focussed on the treatment of enuresis, on therapeutic measures, the enuretic regime as well as the theory of family and parenting. Its practical part is based on two preliminary hypotheses. The first hypothesis H1 was tested under the application of a standardised interview with enuretic children and the testing of the H2 hypothesis was based on a questionnaire designed for parents of bed-wetting children. It has been proved that most children experience their problem with lots of anxieties and that a part of their parents fail to comply with the paradigms related to the treatment of enuresis-the enuretic regime.
Compatibilization effects on flow properties of immiscible polystyrene-polyolefin blends
Mikešová, Jana ; Starý, Zdeněk ; Kruliš, Zdeněk
The influence of mixed compatibilizers (mixtures of styrene-butadiene triblock copolymer with ethene-propene random copolymer on flow and mechanical properties of polystyrene/low-density polyethylene and polystyrene/polypropylene blends was studied and compared with the effects of SBS copolymers.
Vlivy směsných kompatibilizátorů na strukturu a tokové vlastnosti směsí polystyren/polyolefiny
Mikešová, Jana ; Starý, Zdeněk ; Fortelný, Ivan
The influence of a new compatibilization system (mixtures of styrene-butadiene triblock copolymer (SBS) with ethene-propene random copolymer (EPM)) on flow properties and morphology of polystyrene/low-density polyethylene and polystyrene/polypropylene bleds was studied.
Nanotechnology as potential method for recycling of PET bottles
Kráčalík, Milan ; Mikešová, Jana ; Pospíšil, L. ; Fortelný, Ivan ; Šimoník, J.
Recycling of PET worldwide is not sufficient. This issue results from decreasing molecular weight due to thermal, mechanical and hydrolytic degradation during multiple processing of polymer. The viscosity (next processability) of material can be increased by preparation of nanocomposites (formation of physical network in the polymer/clay system). The improved processing and utility properties of recycled PET were analyzed by rheology, morphology and tensile tests.
Melt rheology and morphology of compatibilized polystyrene/polyethylene blends
Mikešová, Jana ; Hromádková, Jiřina ; Hašová, Věra ; Fortelný, Ivan
The effect of molecular structure of styrene-butadiene block copolymers on the morphology and rheological propertiesof polystyrene/polyethylene blends was studied. I was shown that the addition of the copolymers with short styrene blocks leads to a higher increase in viscosity of PS/PE blends than the addition of the related copolymers with long styrene blocks.
Vliv .gamma.-záření na reologické vlastnosti tavenin ultravysokomolekulárního polyethylenu
Mikešová, Jana ; Nevoralová, Martina
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is widely used as material in orthopaedic implants. Melt rheology was used to evaluate the result of simultaneous crosslinking and chain scission process in the polymer, .gamma.-irradiated in the solid state. The predominant mechanism in the process was strongly influenced by irradiation dose and dose-rate. An important result was obtained for the polymer irradiated with the sterilization dose 25 kGy and stored in nitrogen when no significant degradation of the polymer was observed.
