Differences in reasons for using dating app Tinder considering gender of the users
Holá, Martina ; Mazáková Šetinová, Markéta (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the Tinder phenomenon, specifically focuses on the reasons for using the Tinder application with regard to the gender of users in the Czech Republic according to the theory of use and gratification and whether the behavior of users is consistent with sociobiological theory. Use and gratification theory focuses on discovering why and how people use mass media to meet their needs, in this case Tinder. While the sociolobiological theory explains the natural selection of partners. A questionnaire was used as a method of data collection. The total number of respondents was 261, of which were 137 women and 124 men. The most common reason was "casual dating" and then "long-term relationship". Women copied the common results, but with men "sex" won. The result copies previous research and use and gratification theory, since men use Tinder mainly for sex and physical satisfaction, whereas women tend to use it for social satisfaction. As to whether the results are in line with sociobiological theory, research has proven contradictory, but in some elements theory is still present, for example, men are more interested than women whether women are fit and skinny, whereas women are less interested in appearance than men, yet they still want to present that they are fit, skinny and...
The influence of gender on the perception of attractiveness in young people
Smíšková, Anna ; Mazáková Šetinová, Markéta (advisor) ; Andresová, Nela (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of attractiveness, specifically the perception of attractiveness in young people and the analysis of the influence of gender on how young people perceive it. This work aims to identify what attractiveness means to young people and to verify whether gender affects their perception of attractiveness. The work is based on a quantitative questionnaire survey, which 352 respondents attended. The theoretical part is devoted to the interpretation of key concepts and theories that are important for my work - attractiveness, partner preferences, in which I also present the theory of evolution and the theory of parental investment, which formed the basis for creating my hypotheses, the concept of erotic capital and gender. Within individual subchapters, existing studies and research dealing with a similar topic are also presented. The practical part presents the analysis results - the results of statistical tests of 10 of my hypotheses, the distribution of respondents' answers shown in the graphs, and their brief interpretation. Subsequently, the discussion part discusses confirmed and unconfirmed hypotheses and discovered gender differences in relation to the theoretical basis.
Motivation of young people to enter into marriage
Chytrá, Valérie ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Mazáková Šetinová, Markéta (referee)
In the last thirty years, significant changes in demographic behaviour took place in the Czech Republic. This thesis focuses on the current form of family behaviour, namely marriage, for young people who have married at a relatively younger age than is currently common. The nature of the marital relationship is viewed and critically reflected through the lens of individualization in the work of A. Giddens and U. Beck. In addition to marriage itself, the work deals with its position among other transitions of young adulthood, and thus the shape of the life course of young people. The research of this work was performed by a qualitative method and technique of semi-structured interviews. It is concluded that marriage has primarily a symbolic meaning, but its practical consequences are also important. The main meaning of marriage is the formal confirmation of the partners' commitment to each other. The marital commitment serves as a means of communication between the spouses themselves, as well as between them and their social environment. The specific age situation given by the relatively lower age of marriage is mainly reflected in the feeling of the existence of certain age and adulthood norms, which, however, are no longer binding, and if they do not match the value orientation or economic...

At first, the practical part presents to a reader what kind of methodology was used. Then it is devoted to interpretation of gathered data and answering established research questions. The foundations for this was my qualitative research during which I carried out semi-structured interviews with current parents and grandparents. Output from thematic analysis is description of how respondents from both generations were raised, how they rated their upbringing and what parenting style they could have been raised in. This dissertation studies the lifestyles of Czech singles with special attention being paid to their sexual and intimate relationships. This is a qualitative research examining the biography of people who define themselves as singles and the aim of which is to briefly illustrate their lifestyle and to take a closer look at the sexual and intimate relationships that they form. This research is supported by the work of Anthony Giddens on sexuality and of Lynn Jamieson on describing intimacy. Special attention was paid to sexual and intimate relationships - what types of relationships singles form, how is sexuality and intimacy handled in these relationships, does it raise moral and gender questions and if so, which? The result of this work is primarily describing the attributes of the single lifestyle and identification of their life motivations. The main finding is the characterisation of six types of sexual relationships, their internal structure and the method of...
