Application of the artificial neural network to calculate the thermodynamic properties
Groman, Martin ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Mauder, Tomáš (advisor)
This master thesis is dealing with application of an artificial neural network for calculating specific volume of steam. There is described type and construction of the needed neural network. The main outcome of this work is an executable programme, which calculates specific volume of steam for given pressure and temperature, using neural nets.
Mpembův jev
Doležel, Daniel ; Prinz, František (referee) ; Mauder, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis focuses on so far not cleared up anomaly of water called the Mpemba effect. This term is used for observation of hot water freezing faster than cold water under the same cir-cumstances. By researching dominantly English written scientific publications from last few decades, a complete overview of the whole problem was compiled, which should introduce the nonsense seeming effect, its possible explanations and possible utilization to the reader. Even though several good theories on explaining the Mpemba effect exist, the members of scientific community still have not found an agreement on any of them. Therefore, the search for explanation continues. So far there is no room for enthusiastic or disappointed conclusions as there is no bulletproof theory in sight which would also bring light on possible exploitation of the effect. On the contrary, it seems like the scientists do not seem to converge on a single conclusion, but new theories are popping up introducing new domains of the research.
Multi-stage compressors
Dostál, Martin ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
This work deals with compressors and their use in practice. It also describes the basic relationships for thermodynamic analysis of multistage compression, which is more energy efficient at high compression ratios. The work also includes an application for thermodynamic analysis of multistage compressors.
A Stefan problem of heat conduction with phase change and its exact solution
Kesler, René ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with analytical solutions of heat conduction problems with phase change which are known as classical Stefan problems. At the beginning a differential equation of heat conduction is derived and a mathematical model of Stefan problem is formed. The greatest attention is paid to the derivation of analytical solutions for cases in which these solutions are obtainable. The MATLAB environment was chosen for implementation of the obtained solutions. The thesis also includes a description of the program and its graphical interface in MATLAB. The applicability of the program is demonstrated in several phase change problems.
Mathematical optimization of a solar photovoltaic system for a single-family detached home
Bah, Sheikh Omar ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This paper presents a mathematical sizing algorithms of a grid-connected photovoltaic-battery system for a residential house. The objective is to minimize the total storage capacity with cost of electricity. The proposed methodology is based on a Linear and Non-linear programming. We have presents results from a existing PV panel FS-4115-3 for the given climatic conditions and the electricity use profile. Measurements for whole household electricity consumption have been obtained over a period of two months. They were all obtained at one hour interval. The algorithm jointly optimizes the sizes of the photovoltaic and the battery systems by adjusting the battery charge and discharge cycles according to the availability of solar resource and a time-of-use tariff structure for electricity. The results show that jointly optimizing the sizing of battery and photovoltaic systems can significantly reduce electricity imports and the cost of electricity for the household.
The Earthship concept and its energy design
Optimization of the production process in the sense of Industry 4.0
Sázavský, Jakub ; Březina, Michal (referee) ; Mauder, Tomáš (advisor)
Particularly the future of industry is and will be defined by the concept of Industry 4.0. Therefore, this thesis aims to describe the basic conceptions of Industry 4.0 in relation to the production process and demonstrate the possibilities of digital twin by using simplified model of a real production line. It explains terms such as the production process, the concept of Industry 4.0 and the queueing theory. The practical part includes a model of the section of a line in the printing company by the program Tecnomatix Plant Simulation, identification of bottlenecks, possibilities of optimization and evaluation of their impacts. Then there is an example from business practice and drawn conclusions.
Inverse problems in computational heat transfer with phase change
Kamarýt, Petr ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with inverse problems in heat transfer with phase change. The first chapter focuses on heat transfer mechanisms including phase change. Second chapter deals with computational solution of heat transfer problems. In the third chapter the inverse problem for heat flux estimation is formulated. Fourth chapter is description of methods, implemented by the author, for computational solution of both direct and inverse heat transfer problems. Solution of inverse problem are obtained by the sequential method and artificial neural networks. Two heat flux types were selected: continuous, piecewise linear and discontinuous, piecewise constant. Obtained result for both cases are comparable. In case of discontinuous heat flux, results are worse than in continuous case.
Optimization models in production logistics
Mauder, Tomáš ; Dvořák, Jiří (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with linear integer optimization in production logistics via mathematical programming. This tool is used for optimization of the time production schedule with a number of various jobs performed by a company with limited resources. The thesis solves the problem in conjunction with TOSHULIN, a.s. company, which is interested in solving the problem. As a result is the software implementation in which Gantt chart is created as its output.
Compressed-air energy storage
Strnad, Jan ; Mauder, Tomáš (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the problematics of compressed air energy storage. It includes a short introduction to the thermodynamics of ideal gases. The suitable geological conditions for the selection of CAES (compressed air energy storage) systems, the advantages and disadvantages of each type, the method of their production, and the process of compressed air accumulation itself were discussed. The thesis presents individual diagrams of compressed air power plants, and special attention is given to the description of the accumulation process. The last section is focused on the description and comparison of two built CAES systems working on an identical concept and also presents information on the unrealized planned CAES systems.
