Title: The comparison of different methods of body fat measuring by ensemble of adult women devided into five groups according to the BMI level. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to compare values of gained percentage of total body fat by descriptive method such as bioelectrical impedance analysis and skinfolds measuring in comparison with "gold standard method" DEXA and to evaluate the usability of each method of body composition measuring by five groups of women, devided according to BMI level (in range 20-47 kg/m2 ). The purpose of this thesis is to find the most useful method especially for the overweight and obese women (BMI over 30 kg/m2 ) and to estimate the equation for the whole group. The other part of this thesis is the theoretical conclusion of the matters of body composition assessing and the importance of good knowledge about this topic for physiotherapists. Methods: The study was realizing from January of 2010 to March of 2011. There were 136 women, who were clients of Fitness center of VŠTJ Medicina Praha and jointed to the group voluntarely. The criteria of choosing the subjects into the study were: age 18 - 75 years, BMI 20 ≤ 45 kg/m2 , relatively healthy without accute disease. Women with cardiostimulator, pregnant women or nursing mothers were excluded. The monitored...
Osteoporosis, osteopenia and motoric activity
Brožová, Kamila ; Radvanský, Jiří (advisor) ; Matoulek, Martin (referee)
The aim of the work was to evaluate the impact of physical activity on the bone health. There is some evidence that exercise-induced gains in bone mass in children are maintained into adulthood, suggesting that physical activity habits during childhood may have long- lasting benefits on bone health. During adulthood, the primary goal of physical activity should be to maintain bone mass. The age- related decline in bone mineral density is attenuated and the relative risk for fracture is reduced in people who are physically active. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Use of Psychological Instruments for Evaluation of the Parameters Influencing the Adherence to Physical Activity in the Case of Overweighted and Obese Persons
Žďárská, Eliška ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Svačina, Štěpán (referee)
Work title: Use ofPsychological Instruments for Evaluation ofthe Parameters Influencing the Adherence to Physical Activity in the Case of Overweighted and Obese Persons. Work objectives: 1. To review a possibility to use three psychological questionaries and other parameters (BMI, age, sex) to identify the respondents with lowered adherence to physical activities. 2. To evaluate physical activity influence on some psychological aspects and eating behaviour ofoverweighted and obese persons. Methodology: With help of these three types of standardized questionaries (BDI-II, WHOQOL-BREF a TFEQ) it was evaluated a scale of depresivity, quality of life and eating behaviour in the case of persons with overweight and obesity at the begining of three-month physical activity programme. Input values from the questionaries from respondents, who had not finished the programme were compared with the values of the respondents, who had finished, and statisticaly evaluated. Consequently, there were compared and statisticaly evaluated input and output values from the quetionaries and BMI of the respondents, who had finished the programme. Výsledky: Lowered adherence to the excersises apears to be typical for women, younger aged respondents and respondents with lower BMI. The questionaries BDI-II, WHOQOL-BREF, TFEQ...
Changes of anthropometric parametres after the program of physical activity in overweight and obese women
Šupová, Renata ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Chytráčková, Jitka (referee)
Summary: Title of thesis: Changes of anthropometric parameters after the program of physical activity in overweight and obese women. Work objectives: The aim of the work was to fmd out influence of 3-months aerobic exercise program on changes of anthropometric parameters in overweight and obese women. Methods: There were 50 obese and overweight women in project (average age 45~7 ± 10,9 years), who participated at 3-month aerobic exercise program. Work out program consisted of 3 - 4 hours per week of supervisioned aerobic workout (ride the static bike, walk on treadmill). At the beginning and at the end, antrophometric check-ups were made. We checked up: height, weight, BMI, body fat percentage via (through the use of) anthropometric check-up ofthigh skin-fold thickness- callipers, circumference of waist, hip, arm and calf. Results were evaluated in more homogenous groups divided by age- women up to 45 years and women older than 45 years and by proportion ofbody fat- women with lower proportion ofbody fat- up to 40 percent - and women with proportion of body fat higher than 40 percent. Results: Aerobic workout program catalyze all of the monitored parameters - statistically significant decrease of weight, BMI, body fat amount. Changes of fat distribution in body was established by statistically decrease of...

Summary: Title: Three-month activity programme and its influence on actiYity and participation in Multiple Sclerosis patients with mild and moderate degree of disability (EDSS 1-4) Aim of the paper: Evaluation of the activity and participation changes in Multiple Sclerosis patients with mild and moderate degree of disability (EDSS 1-4) after having completed a three month activity programme Methodology: At two equally sized groups (n = 10) of Multiple Sclerosis patients with mild and moderate degree of disability (EDSS 1-4) the activity and participation changes have been examined throughout a three month period, using the MKF (ICF- WHO 2001), WHODAS II and MSQOL-54. The first, experimental group have undergone the three month activity programme. The second, control group of chosen patients have not carried out any regular activity throughout the same time period. The input (before start of the programme) and output (after termination of the programme) results of individua! participants have been compared and statistically evaluated. Results: It is concluded that there exists a positive influence of physical actiYity on participation and activity in everyday life ofpatients with multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis. Keywords: multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis, three month activity programme, physical condition,...

Work title: Influence of physical activity on psychological aspects and eating habits in overweight persons. Work objectives: 1) to asses the influence ofphysical activity on psychological aspects and eating habits in overweight persons, 2) to find correlations between possible changes of selected psychological parameters and changes of BMI. Methods: Three types of standardized questionnaires (BDI-II, WHOQOL-BREF and TFEQ) were used for evaluation of changes of depression, life quality and eating habits in 34 overweight persons (with BMI ~ 26 kg.m-2 ), who participated at 3-month aerobic exercise program. The results ofinput questionnaires (at the beginning of the program) and output questionnaires (at the end of the program) and values of BMI of respondents were compared and statistically evaluated. Results: Regular physical activity positively affected emotional well-being, quality of life and eating habits of respondents. The results of the study show that depression decreased, life quality increased and eating habits positively changed (more consistent dieting) in the majority of participants. Changes of BMI correlated with changes of health-related quality of life but not with ether psychological parameters (depression, mental and social-related quality oflife). Key words: physical activity,...
