Time Synchronization in Computer Networks
Matoušek, Denis ; Kořenek, Jan (referee) ; Martínek, Tomáš (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with design of a solution for time synchronization in computer networks that is a crucial problem of many network applications. Based on analysis of protocols for time synchronization, PTP protocol was chosen as an appropriate candidate. The thesis describes the implementation of the design for a special network interface card and demonstrates features of the solution in several tests. A part of the solution processing precise timestamps was implemented in FPGA chip on the network card while PTP messages are processed in a software application. Values of configurable parameters of the application were determined based on analysis of the network card properties and results of particular tests. It was achieved accuracy in order of tens of nanoseconds.
Similarity Searching in Network Data
Hud, Jakub ; Matoušek, Denis (referee) ; Wrona, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is interested in analyzing IP flow records. IP flow record contains IP flow metadata of specific network communication such as IP addresses, port numbers, network protocol numbers and other. Main goal is to design and implement method for determination of similarity of NetFlow records. At the beginning of this thesis is description of how to analyze great amount of data. Next there are shown network monitoring technicies and NetFlow. Other parts of this thesis are dedicated to design and implementation of data analysis using DBSCAN and agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithms. Implementation of data analysis application is also part of this thesis. As a result, the application can be used to network scan detection using NetFlow data although the results are not very clear and contain a lot of legitimate communication.
Implementation of Bloom Filters in FPGA
Matoušek, Denis ; Kaštil, Jan (referee) ; Žádník, Martin (advisor)
The thesis deals with probabilistic data structure Bloom filter and its modifications - counting Bloom filter and multistage filter. The fundamentals of these data structures are explained and the mathematical equations describing their properties including the equation to minimize the false positive rate are shown. Appropriate hash function is chosen considering an implementation on a FPGA chip. Designs of architectures of the hash function and data structures are implemented in VHDL language and their synthesis is done. Its results are discussed considering occupied resources of a FPGA chip, a critical path and maximum frequency.
Virtualization of I/O Operations in Computer Networks
Remeš, Jan ; Martínek, Tomáš (referee) ; Matoušek, Denis (advisor)
This work deals with virtualization of computer systems and network cards in high-speed computer networks, and describes implementation of the SR-IOV virtualization technology support in the COMBO network card platform. Various approaches towards network card virtualization are compared, and the benefits of the SR-IOV technology for high performance applications are described. The work gives overview of the COMBO platform and describes design and implementation of the SR-IOV technology support for the COMBO platform. The work concludes with measurement and analysis of the implemented technology performance in virtual machines. The result of this work is the COMBO cards' support for the SR-IOV technology, which makes it possible to use them in virtual machines with wire-speed performance preserved. This allows future COMBO cards to be used as accelerators in the networks utilizing the Network Function Virtualization.
Fast Regular Expression Matching Using FPGA
Kubiš, Juraj ; Fukač, Tomáš (referee) ; Matoušek, Denis (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the possibility of hardware acceleration of regular expression matches. The content of the thesis is to analyze existing hardware architectures and evaluate their positive and negative properties. Based on this knowledge, the architecture is designed. It is based on deterministic finite automata with implicit transitions (D2FA), is implemented in VHDL and is synthesized. The synthesis results are analyzed to determine the overall throughput of the architecture. It is designed software to convert regular expressions into a D2FA and to optimize this automaton in order to minimize memory requirements. The implementation is verified and the benefits of individual optimization techniques to reduce memory requirements are evaluated.
Measurement of basic parameters of the cardiovascular system using a stress test
Matoušek, Denis ; Janoušek, Oto (referee) ; Nováková, Zuzana (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis describes the measurement of basic parameters of the cardiovascular system using a physical test on a bicycle ergometer, their processing and evaluation with the subsequent division of subjects into individual categories according to their physical fitness. The main goal of this work is to create a script in the MATLAB environment, which will be used to evaluate the results of the measured person in the student tasks taking place in practical exercises in physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.
Device for simultaneous acquisition of PCG and PPG signals
Matoušek, Denis ; Králík, Martin (referee) ; Mézl, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design and implementation of equipment for phonocardiographic and photoplethysmographic measurements. The theoretical part discusses the description of the origin of heart sounds, the place and method of measurement in the framework of phonocardiography. The practical part describes several options for building individual devices with the help of a Raspberry Pi 4 or with the help of measuring technology and a non-soldering field. Subsequently, the best solutions for PPG and PCG data acquisition are selected. 10 volunteers were measured on the final device. The scanned data is processed in the Python environment. Individual measurement results are described, documented, compared, and evaluated against other measurements.
