Development of physical and functional environment in the historical core of Prague: the case study of Dlouhá street and surroundings

Thesis deals with the development of the physical and functional environment in the historic core of Prague between years 2009 and 2017 with emphasis on touristification. For the case study was chosen Dlouhá street and surroundings based on the character of the area which is known for many bars and restaurants occupied by tourists. The aim of the thesis was to find out how did the physical and functional environment changed during the period and the impact of touristification. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part deals with impacts of touristification and development of the environment in Prague. The second part presents categorization and methods of delimititation, data collection and analysis. The main part presents the results of the analysis. Data were collected by visual analysis of Google Street View photos. The physical environment significantly improved during the period. Many shops changed its business operators. The impact of touristification was demonstrated by ongoing change of focus group. Structure of shops almost did not change. THE PHENOMENON OF SHARED ACCOMMODATION AND ITS IMPACT ON RESIDENTS Abstract Web service Airbnb, starting its operation since 2008, arranges short-term rentals for turists in resident place. During ten years of its existence there has been huge Airbnb expansion all over the world. Number of problems has appeared and has affected not only on a life of residents. Current service operation has already diverged from the principles of sharing economy upon which it was established and it rather remains uncontrolled business activity. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to capture the functioning of Airbnb in selected foreign metropolis and to present approved regulatory steps at these localities. Then the current situation of shared accommodation market in Prague is presented and discussion over legistation proposals is shown. Using the semistructured interviews, the research was made in Prague district Vinohrady with the aim of analyzing residents'opinion on accommodated guests in their apartment block. Research shows that Airbnb guests affect negatively the quality of residental life especially due to their noisier behaviour. key words: Airbnb, shared economy, shared accomodation, impact on residents, regulations, Prague
Airbnb phenomenon as a determinant of changes of spatial patterns of tourism in Prague compared to Vienna and Berlin

This thesis deals with an Airbnb phenomenon and its influence on change of spatial patterns of tourism. Airbnb is dynamically growing in recent years and it is mostly concentrated in city centres which can have many negative impacts. In spite of that there are few researches focused on impacts of Airbnb in Prague. The object of this thesis is to find how Airbnb initiates change of spatial patterns of tourism in Prague compared to Vienna and Berlin. The thesis examines spatial distribution of Airbnb and compares it with hotels and other accommodation facilities. Quantitative analysis of secondary data which are provided by independent server Inside Airbnb and data from national or municipal statistical offices is used. Airbnb concentrates itself mostly in city center of all three cities and it is most visible in Prague. Airbnb is also most commercialized in Prague, especially in its city centre. Compared to Vienna and Berlin there were not observed any significant changes of spatial patterns of tourism in Prague.
Alternative forms of tourism: Non-traditional organized tours of Prague

This thesis deals with alternative forms of tourism, specifically with non-traditional tours of Prague. Prague is the center of mass tourism mainly due to cultural monuments, which are visited by millions of tourists every year. Alternative tourism is a new trend that develops not only in Prague but also in other world capitals. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the sector, which focuses on non-traditional tours of Prague. In this thesis are also investigated the motivation to set up companies that offer non-traditional tours, captured types of tourists searching for this type of tours and the effects of this form of tourism in Prague. Secondary data analysis was used for research, especially for the creation offer of non-traditional tours. Qualitative methods in the form of field surveys and structured interviews were also used. Street art and its relationship to tourism in Prague

Street art and its relationship to tourism in Prague Abstract Bachelor thesis is focused on mutual relationship between street art and tourism in urban environment. Purpose of research is to describe relationships between individual artists (buskers) and other participants within the historic center of Prague. Also impact of busking on the city. First part contains analyses of used specialized literature. This literature is mostly focused on street art problematics, public spaces and urban tourism. Different part of thesis is dedicated to identifying current conditions for street artist and outlining the developmental phases of street art. After acceptance of new restrictive public notice in year 2016, the impact of street art on tourism has decreased. Street art production does not oppress city areas anymore. Combination of several qualitative methods were used for research. Chapter with case study Prague consists of evaluation of results gained by observations made in selected areas. Natural monuments in Prague and their potential for tourism development: a case study of Prague - Lysolaje

This thesis deals with an analysis of a relationship between current foreign tourism and natural monuments in Prague. Prague is touristically attractive mainly due to its cultural and architectural monuments, however it is also characterized by its specific relief and relatively well preserved nature. Nature motivated tourism in an urban destination is a rarely discussed topic in the academic literature. The main object of this thesis is to find, whether there is connection between foreign incoming tourism in natural monuments of Prague and to find out what impact this connection has. The research itself is divided into two parts with two different qualitative methods used. The first part uses a content analysis of chosen texts, in the second part the recreational potential of specific area was detected via case study in the urban district Prague - Lysolaje. The influence of natural monuments on the tourism in Prague was confirmed, but with comparison to the cultural monuments the natural monuments don't have much influence on the tourism in Prague.
