Hypertext as the Linguistics Concept

The goal of the master's thesis is to capture how the term hypertext is comprehended in Czech linguistics with respect to the broader context of foreign treatises. The attention is paid to the concepts from the area of text linguistics which are related to the phenomenon of hypertext: intertextuality, architextuality, pretext, and the possibility of understanding of hypertext as the highest language level is discussed. Attention is paid to the relationship of the author and the reader in the case of production and reception of hypertexts. Selectively is described hypertextuality in contemporary culture, especially fiction. Furthermore, the work focuses on the history of the use of the concept of hypertext and hypertext integration into the network theory.
Intertextuality in Advertising

This bachelor thesis examines the intertextuality in advertising. The theoretical part first of all defines the basic concepts, such as advertising, intertextuality and its types or transtextuality, and in addition includes selected approaches to intertextuality in advertising and their subsequent comparison. The practical part contains a design of an information system for working with a corpus and the introduction of the corpus itself, accompanied by comments and evaluation. The final section consists of an analysis of the corpus, which leads to the formulation of conclusions about how the source texts are modified and adapted. This thesis aims to: 1) find out how frequent is the advertisement based on the principle of intertextuality, 2) ascertain what means of intertextuality are the most utilized in advertising texts, 3) determine what type of source text is the most frequently referred, 4) design an appropriate information system to store, search easily and comment on the collected material.
Condensed and abbreviated Expressions in contemporary Journalism (type řidičák, gambáč)

(in English): This work deals with the use of condensed and abbreviated expressions in journalism. Based on the literature and compiled corpus of texts a research was conducted and a list of expressions was compiled. Expressions were compared with material from the Czech National Corpus and analyzed in terms of the way of formation, semantic groups, frequency of occurrence, stylistic characteristics and predicted addressee. The Language of Novels for Girls by Lenka Lanczová

The thesis is focused on linguistic analysis of selected novels for girls by Lenka Lanczová (Znamení Blíženců, Kam se vytrácí láska, Potížistka, Dvakrát dospělá). Its aim is to analyse all language levels of examined texts and, above all, to refer to symptomatic linguistic devices, which are used in them. Furthermore, the novels are compared one to each other to point out possible development of author's language. Finally, the focus is given to the differences and similarities with the earlier production of novels for girls. The base of explanations is represented by literary research of novels for girls, especially the findings from Dagmar Mocná and Svatava Urbanová, and also by existing linguistic analysis of their language (the publication Prostor pro jazyk a styl by Oldřich Uličný and Jan Horák).
Non-marked and marked Expressions in Newspaper Titles

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the non-marked and marked expressions of the titles in today's serious and tabloid press. It classifies composition of the newspaper titles, describes procedures used for informing and convincing the recipients and, on the basis of gained knowledge, establishes differences between the headlines in serious and tabloid press in particularly in terms of non-marked and marked expressions. To analyze the observed phenomena and to compare mutual qualities, a title corpus consisting of two Czech journals: Lidové noviny newspaper representing reputable printing and Blesk representing the tabloids was created. Selected journals were observed for two years (April 2012 - April 2014) and 300 titles in total were collected to the corpus.
Linguistic Analysis of Headlines in the Newspaper Metro

This bachelor thesis is focused on headlines of the newspaper Metro, which were excerpted from chosen issues from 1997, 2008 and 2014. The theoretical part summarizes definitions of the terms journalistic style and headlines. It also enumerates the stylistic devices that are common in journalistic texts. The focal point of this thesis is linguistic analysis of headlines in the newspaper Metro (lexical, syntactical and orthographical). The impact of the new format of the newspaper Metro in 2008 on the form of headlines is also examined.
Non-Standard Czech in Prosaic Works by Petra Soukupová

The aim of the thesis is to describe non-standard literary devices and their functions in some of Petra Soukupova's prose. On this basis, we will try to define the author's style. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces the artist, her work and position in current Czech literary output. Other chapters are devoted to the stratification and differentiation of Czech language and the examples of colloquial literary devices in literature. This is followed by the practical part - linguistic analysis of selected novels (K moři, Zmizet, Marta v roce vetřelce), which will be the base for the conclusion where all the existing information will be summarized and important findings on the author's style drawn.
The Style of Arnošt Goldflam's Plays

This thesis presents Arnošt Goldflam as playwright with a peculiar position in the Czech culture. It summarizes basic knowledge about nature and style of dramatic texts and, on the basic of this knowledge, deals with stylistic and linguistic analysis of the part of the author's works which are original dramatic texts. It's based on the corpus of twelve games, that represent this kind of his creative work from the 80's until recently. The objective of the thesis is to determine the basic characteristics and language instruments involved in the structure and meaning of each game. Based on the analysis of instruments stylish construction of various levels and areas of language it defines the most significant common features stylish of all included texts and also author's progression in the use of language and style formation. Goldflam's theater work is characterized not only by choosing subjects, but also in the way of their language and staging interpretation. Historical land use changes of the Dolni Posazavi region studied with use of GIS

Consistent recording of data on Land Use makes it possible to carry out a detailed analysis of a landscape development in the Czech ladns over the last 160 years. Since the 1970s there have been Land Use studies using these records but they usualy foccused on statistical data processing for whole cadastre areas. With the introduction of the Geographical Information System (GIS) we have had on opportunity to effectively analyse the map data and thus to observe the structure of landscape and the surfaces as Well. This dissertation thesis deals with the Land Use development of cadastres Teletin and Trebsin between the years 1840 and 1999, using the Arc View detscop GIS computer program. Its aim is to identify all the changes in the Land Use and drawing on knowledge of general trends in the landscape and society development to explain and comment on these changes. The comparison of the results of this study (map analysis GIS) with the recorded data (statistics Land Use date for individual cadastres) creates also on important part of the dissertation. Relation between verbal and nonverbal communication in advertisement

This Bachelor's thesis is focused on the relations between verbal and nonverbal communication in advertising. The first part describes a theoretical basis applying to advertising in general, target group and model of effecting recipients by advertising. Attention is drawn to particular parts of heterogeneous communication, which are verbal part (word) and nonverbal part (mainly picture and colour). The second (practical) part contains analysis of eight magazine advertisements belonging to two categories - car advertisements and bank advertisements.
