The quality of life of patients with permanent tracheostomy

The bachelor thesis deals about the quality of life of patients with permanent tracheostomy. Its aim is to describe and analyze the quality of life of these patients from the perspective of themselves and their families. Into the research were included somatic aspects, assessed using the UW-QoL questionnaire, aspect of psychological, social, communication, rated by mentioning of individual cases and semi structured interviewed. Last but not least the aspects of values, which were determined using the method SEIQoL. My intention was a total view of quality of life specific patients with permanent tracheostomy. Research survey was realized at the ENT department of District Hospital in Jicin and it takes one month. The research included five patients, three men and two women. The size of this group was given by the availability of patients with this problem at a time in the workplace and their willingness to collaborate. Permanent tracheostomy is a significant intervention into the life of each patient. I wanted to show how big change it is in life of each of them. Senior age, dying and death from view of medical nurse and nun

Key words : Old age, dying , death, paliative care, pain, DNR, Advanced Directives, euthanasia, dignified death, nun, religion The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the difference in how dying and death are understood by atheistic nurses and as opposed to nuns who work as nurses at hospitals, The thesis also investigates the term "dignified death", and the possibilities for patients to influence how their lives end. This topic is one that has yet to be fully investigated. A qualitative observational study was carried out by way of conversation or dialogue with six nurses from the Faculty Hospital in Hradeck Kralove, three of whom were atheistic and three of whom were nuns of St.Vincent's order. The result of research is that religious faith makes nuns more empathic to dying patiens and thein family, while atheistic nurses care for dying patiens with professionalism and sort of psychological distace - to protect themselves.
Stress de-tension of the patient before surgery

Summary: Main thema of this bachelor's essay was stress de-tension of the patient efore surgery. This thema is above all particularly elaborate in two main parts, respectively theoretical and empirical. There is definition and clarification of term stress in the theoretical part together with using of special medical literature. There is also pointed to factors evoking and causing stress. This essay furthermore points to the relation between stress and pain at the patient,as the same as between stress and not enough communication to the patient before surgery. Next, there are described possibilities of pain treatment. Theoretical part contents also description of hospital surrounding and its influence to stressogenesis at the patient. In fine of theoretical part there are brought managing strategie, which could detend stress of the patient before surgery. In the empirical part, I have tried to find out by quantitative research the most frequent factors and continuities matched to stress at the patient before surgery. The research file was content from patiens of different age groups and different diagnosis, whose were hospitalizated in Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem.

97 Title: Violence towards the Elderly Regarded by Medical Workers Key words: elderly people, violence, abuse, Elder Abuse and Neglect (EAN), cruelty, neglect, medical workers, support, This Bachelor thesis whose title is "Violence towards the Elderly Regarded by Medical Workers" is aimed in its theoretical part at the issues of elder cruelty and abuse. This part describes individual forms of violence, highlighting the difficult situation of an abused old person. Substantial part of the thesis is focused on medical workers and their opportunities how they can help the abused elderly. In its research part, the Bachelor thesis seeks to determine the level of medical workers awareness of elderly abuse indications using a quantitative research, offering some possible solutions of this problem. Tested sample included medical workers, such as certified nurse - 56 persons, attendant - 6 persons, and medical orderly - 16 persons. The research has been performed in two medical facilities in the Czech Republic. The survey results showed how many medical workers during their practice met with abused senior. Bachelor work deals with an effect and optimalization of analgesic medication in patients after total knee replacement. The study involves theoretic and empiric parts. Theoretic part consists of two parts: first is about total knee replacements, second is about analysis, evaluation and therapy of the pain. Empiric part is based on data processed from questionnaires and tables filled in by patients of I.orthopaedic department Teaching Hospital Motol. We assessed pain before and after operation. Communication with hospitalized seniors

The aim of thesis is to determine, what are the problems in communication with hospitalized elderly medical people. It consists of theoretic and empiric parts. The theoretic one includes: general communication, communication with patient, age and the elderly, communication with seniors and the old sick man. In the empiric part I have found the problems, differences in communication between groups of health professionals. For this research I used the original questionnaire. I discovered small differences in communication with patients between nurses, orderlies, and between younger and older workers. It confirmed that the lack of time is the biggest problem in communication with the patient to the nurses.

The quantitative study was carried out to measure effort and working conditions on pediatric wards, according to structured questionary.
