The Hájek Monastery by Červený Újezd

The Hájek Monastery by Červený Újezd is situated in the register of Červený Újezd, in the district of Prague - West, by the road from Červený Újezd to Břve. It is a monastery complex, composed of a loreto, which is surrounded of a cloister with two residential wings (the monastery was administrated by the franciscans) and other buildings. In the past, the complex uset to be one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the region of central Bohemia. In the fifties of the twntieth century, it was used as a detention camp and then as a military station. The autor dicribed the complex as it could have been seen at the beginning of the twntiwth century, this description is based on a litarture and historical sources. Using her own photodocumentation, she then dicscribed the current state of the complex. She shown that almost nothing has remained of the original equipement, only some elemnts are stored in other places. In the terms of presevation of the architecture, the complex is dilapidated but not in disrepair. The renovations are slowly carried out. In the complex of Hájek we can find some items of structural-historical interest. Human openness : In theology of Karl Rahner and Wolfhart Pannenberg

The thesis Human openness : In theology of Karl Rahner and Wolfhart Pannenberg is dealing with the term 'openness' in a theological sense when it speaks of an essential characteristics of human being. Rahner and Pannenberg surpass all the other authors in 20-th century who use this term in their consistency of usage and richness of its meaning. First and largest part of the thesis offers analysis of both authors and their usage of the term, from earliest works to the final comprehensive presentations of their systematic theology. Second part takes the term under the test of imago Dei doctrine, teaching about sin, and about the salvation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Secondary literature helps to see value of their theology. One of the results of this test is the fact that we can speak about one notion of openness since the similarities of both authors prevail over the differences. The Relationship between Redemption and Emancipation in the Political Theology of J. B. Metz

This thesis, called The Relationship between Redemption and Emancipation in the Political Theology of J. B. Metz, concerns the political theology of J. B. Metz. The first part summarizes the influences, which shaped his theological thinking and it presents his concept of political theology. The next part asks a question about the relationship between the ideas of redemption and emancipation in Metz's theology. This is based on the interpretation of a chapter from his book, Glaube in Geschichte und Gesellschaft, which concerns the topic. But before the interpretation of Metz's text, the problems of relationship between the two terms and of their origin are described. The extent of the field of meaning of the term "emancipation" is illustrated by the examples of the thinking of Immanuel Kant, Karl Marx and Jürgen Habermas. A large part is dedicated to the figures of the Frankfurt school, Theodor Adorno and Walter Benjamin, and their specific approach to the idea of emancipation and the Enlightenment tradition. The final thesis rejects the opinion, that the ideas of emancipation and redemption in Metz's theology coincide too much and it puts stress on the importance of the term "history of suffering" for solving this problem of Metz's theology. Architect Jan Vejrych and his works

The thesis deals with the life and work of an eminent architect of the late 19th and early 20th century, a native of Horní Branná near Jilemnice, Jan Vejrych. Forty years of his extensive and diverse project and construction activity has left its mark both in Prague and in many places in Bohemia and, by implementation of a project of the National House in Maribor, Slovenia, it has also acquired an international dimension. The aim of the text is to offer a comprehensive view of Vejrych's life and professional activities and thus fill one of the gaps in the knowledge of architecture of the late 19th and early 20th century in the Czech lands. The thesis primarily focuses on the analysis of Vejrych's architectural work. When mapping his projects the aim was to place them consistently in the broader art-historical and socio- political context. The works are not only analyzed within each creative period, the evolution of selected building types is traced over time as well. Attention is paid to interior designs, which were an integral part of major projects, as well as to sketches and studies created for architect's own use where his general observations and comments on various aspects of architectural work can be found. Facades of townhouses in Slavonice

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issues facades of Renaissance townhouses in Slavonice. It deals with the diversity of its architectural division and sgraffito. It observes factors, which probably influenced the formation of their unique shape. It describes in detail the fourteen selected houses and also contains photographs of houses taken by the author of the bachelor's thesis. It searches and compares Renaissance houses in the surrounding Slavonice, which have similar characteristics. It refers to unique collection of houses of Slavonice, especially given by the quality of sgraffito decoration and the simultaneous occurrence diamond vault. It highlights the exceptional cultural value and necessity of conservation, which tries to help.
Statues in Lysa nad Labem castle garden

The subject of interest of this work is the collection of statues ordered by Count František Antonín Špork, placed in 1735 in the castle garden at Lysá nad Labem. This collection is made up of 32 statues and is made up of primarily allegorical subjects (allegories of the Seasons, the Continents, Day and Night, the Elements, and the Twelve months). It is supplemented by Pairs of lionesses, lions, and sphinxes. Originally the collection was attributed to the workshop of M. B. Braun, more recently it has been credited to "Sculptors from Benátky", which is most commonly identified in literature with František Adámek from Benátky nad Jizerou. In the first part of this written work, the person of F. A. Špork will be briefly introduced as the one who commissioned the works of art. Another part of the work deals with the history and the sculptural decoration of the castle gardens. The central and most comprehensive part of the work consists of a detailed description of the collection with links to photographic documentation in an attachment. The work is focused on the formal analysis of the sculptures of the collection, to identify their characteristics and comparison with the works of M. B. Braun. Prague Hussite Churches from the Thirties of the 20th Century

This bachelor thesis deals with the theme of Prague Hussite churches from thirties of the 20th century. The first part of this thesis is devoted to a history and basic ideas of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church necessary for overall understanding of this topic. Afterwards the author tries to characterize a general approach to a liturgical space and describe the issue of erecting buildings of this new church during the interwar period. The main part of this thesis is closely concerned with four Prague Hussite churches which were built in the thirties. Chapters of this core part are dedicated to the Hussite churches in Vršovice, Vinohrady, Smíchov and Holešovice.

Unity of the Church: Particular Churches and the Universal Church in the Ecclesiology of Henri de Lubac Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to present part of the ecclesiological work of French theologian Henri de Lubac devoted to external structure of the Church. The thesis is based on reflections of de Lubac's book Les églises particulieres dans l'Église universelle, which is analysed in the overall context of his theological thought. Our goal is to define relations between particular churches and the universal Church and analyse theological principles of the institutional setting of the Church. The basic principle is found in theologically defined unity of the Church. Relations between the Church and culture, problem of acculturation and relations between principles of unity and plurality of the Church are among other topics of the paper. We came to the conclusion based on the analysis of the de Lubac's work, the Church is found on the theological principles even as a visible institution. The country churches in the kontext of early medieval architecture in region of Strakonice

Country churches are in the study of early medieval religious architecture the important point. In many cases, as is also the case in South Bohemia, just these shrines become an important group of objects that reflects historic rendition of certain art forms in architecture. A very important part of this theses is dedicated to a general definition of the characteristics of the construction rural churches in the area of central Pootaví. The main part of this work is a catalog of selected rural churches, which provides separate studies with detailed analysis of their construction history. The aim is to introduce the oldest form of each selected sacred sites around Strakonice. Finally, every catalog password is integrated in the system-defined groups according to the most outstanding architectural features. Also each password contents a short assessment of the quality and importance of construction, including efforts to introduce wider relations to artistic center in Strakonice or areas completely remote. Questions of Saxon Renaissance

Dealing with both practical and consequently theoretical aspects, the thesis treats the Saxon Renaissance with the emphasis on the architecture in the Czech Republic. The purpose of the first part was to put together a list of historical monuments. Supported by previous research the selection method was determined and the individual buildings described. As a result we organized them into types and specified the Saxon Renaissance architectural features. Then we discussed broader issues related to the Saxon Renaissance architecture that were: the influence of Saxon timber-framed architecture, the origins and the role of the portal with seat shaped niches in the jambs; we re-examined the importance of the architectural commissions of the house of Pernštejn and we proposed to link the Bohemian Saxon Renaissance architecture with Czech early renaissance terracotta pieces. The second part of the thesis further explores the contextual issues. It tracks the early sixteen century French architecture and focuses on the German renaissance architecture, that of Saxony in particular. Then some theoretical reflections on the character of transalpine architecture are presented.
