PhD thesis abstract: Late Antique Person in the Perspective of Authors Writing in Latin author: PhDr. Jan L e p e š k a advisor: doc. PhDr. Zdeněk P i n c, CSc. This PhD thesis - "Late Antique Person in the Perspective of Authors Writing in Latin" - discusses the late antique society with an emphasis on the historical role of the Goths. The main goal is to try to gain a new understanding of the cultural life of the Goths through translation and commentary to the letters of the bishop Sidonius Apollinaris and his (almost) contemporaries. His texts provide the reader with insights on the behavior and conduct of the Gothic nobility, everyday life of the royal court, customs, dining and many other aspects of cultural life of the Goths. Sidonius' view, however, sometimes seems biased. That is why the thesis presents also the views of other selected late antique historians, whose works dealt with the Goths (Ammianus Marcellinus, Jordanes, Zosimos and Procopius of Caesarea), in order to create a deeper comparison of the views of the individual Roman authors. The thesis also attempts to offer a constructive view on the historical role of the Goths in shaping a new, medieval Europe, using the knowledge of both older and contemporary academics. The German gentes and ancient world

This work regards late ancient authors and their view on German ethnics. Authors focus in problems inside Rome empire and relationship to Germans, especially customs, culture, military conquests and problem of German religion. These facts try to compare with Rome civilization, also try to rehabilate Rome society. Also are looking for possible option integration Germans into Rome's world.

Stalingrad - Berlin. Victory of Soviet army in the World War II

V předkládané práci o prúběhu 2. světové války v Evropě - na tzv. "Východní frontě" - je rozpracován uvedený přehled o vedení těch strategických válečných střetnutí, ve kterých se na této frontě rozhodlo o vítězství sovětské armády a o konečném osudu prohraného "východního" tažení nacistických vojsk. Tato etapa 2. světové války byla sovětskými vojsky nastartována v roce 1943 bitvami u Stalingradu a u Kurska a byla ukončena8. května 1945 Berlínskou operací. Rok 1943 se na východní frontě stal pro tuto frontu historickým mezníkem pro proběh druhé světové války, mezníkem, který svým celkovým vojensko politickým významem přesahoval rámce východoevropského válčiště. V procesu těchto válečných strategický sražení - na Východní frontě - byla potvrzena úderná a palebná síla sovětských vojsk i jejich nevídaná manévrovací schopnost realizovaná v postupných útočných frontových operacích, které v konečném efektu přivodily porážku nacistických vojsk a jejich následnou bezpodmínečnou kapitulaci. Válečné tažení sovětských vojsk v letech 1941 - 1945 bylo ve svém počátku charakterizováno - na vojensko politické úrovni vedení SSSR - jako vynucené vedení obranných bojú. V dalším proběhu války šlo od roku 1943 přechod k rozhodné útočné činnosti, ve které - ve spolupráci se spřátelenými armádami - bylo dosaženo vítězství nad...

The reasons of a frequent failure in promoting kaizen to Czech employees

This diploma thesis deals with problems which often occur during implementation of kaizen philosophy into economic practice in Czech environment. Many Czech companies that adopted this philosophy do not reach such good results, compared to companies in Japan. Czech employee's do not accept it in good way. Thus the target of this thesis is to find out possible causes of this unfavourable situation. In theoetical parts, kaizen phiosophy and other related factors such as organizational culture are described. Furthermore, most frequent kaizen practice and its most important effects are described well as a brief history of it in Japan, USA, and Czech. Real implementations of kaizen in three companies in Czech Republic are analyzed in empirical part of this thesis. Most important points of this part are qualitative research (interviews with employees of these three companies) and quantitative research (questionares were filled by employees in one of these firms). The outputs of the thesis are general as well as specific suggestions for these three companies.
