Family of a Child with Multiple Disability

This thesis concerns the issue of a family with a child with combined disability. It maps stories of three families which have disabled children like this. In particular, it is about Angelman syndrome, Down syndrome and poliomyelitis. The theoretical part deals with combined disability, specifics of families with a disabled child and social services. Within the chapter combined disability, there is a summary of the most important facts about diagnoses relating to the practical part, which means Angelman syndrome, Down syndrome and poliomyelitis. Therefore, the thesis is further focused on the area of social services which proceed from valid legislation. The practical part of the thesis is based on interviews with respondents belonging to families with a child with combined disability. The perception of individual life events of the families is very subjective and influenced by a whole range of circumstances. Therefore, especially the individual records of interviews are interesting. Furthermore, social services provided to families with a child with combined disability are mapped there, together with some basic information about them. Perception of Family by Students of a Selected Secondary School

This diploma thesis deals with the issues of family and its perception by secondary school students. The theoretical part concerns family from several points of view. The introductory chapter is focused on selected milestones of the development of family in general. The substance of the next chapter is the very definition of family - how it is dealt with by Czech law, sociology and psychology. Family does not always acquire the same form, therefore in this part, there is also presented an overview of family models. Family has an essential influence on the development of a child and this problem is discussed in the fourth chapter. A part of a child's development are mainly its needs and also the functionality of family itself. That is why the thesis is furthermore focused on child wellfare in general. A child is not always brought up in a family, therefore attention is paid also to substitute care, whether family or institutional. The practical part of the thesis is based on interviews with ten respondents and on research of their opinions of family, whether present, future or ideal.
