Krupková, Lucie ; Hronek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Herink, Josef (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Candidate: Mgr. Lucie Krupková Consultant: PharmDr. Miloslav Hronek, Ph.D. Title of Thesis: The composition of breast milk and basal metabolic rate in lactating women. Breast milk is the ideal first food for infants for the first six months of their life. Healthy growth and development of infants depend on the quality and the quantity of human milk. Lactation, particularly milk composition, may be influenced by various factors such as maternal body composition, maternal energy balance, physiological events in the mother, genetic factors, parity, duration of pregnancy, stage of lactation, then for example socioeconomic status, maternal diet and individual needs of breast-fed infants. In our study, we examined mothers' anthropometric parameters, anthropometric parameters of breast-fed infants, mothers' indirect calorimetry and the composition of breast milk in four different periods postpartum. The aim of our study was to determine the interactions between the various components of breast milk and other measured parameters. In our study, we found that the weight gain in breast-fed infants, the fat mass gain (in g) and the fat free mass gain were significant (ANOVA, P < 0,0001). The 24-hour...
Nutrigenetic and nutrigenomic aspects at selected pathological states
Krupková, Lucie ; Hronek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Klusoňová, Hana (referee)
DIPLOMA THESIS Nutrigenetic and nutrigenomic aspects at selected pathological states. Mentor of Diploma Thesis: PharmDr. Miloslav Hronek, Ph.D. Lucie Krupková, 2010 Abstract The effect of nutrition to human health is undisputable. Certain dietary compounds can influence each of us in different ways. Although people have almost identical genome, there are imperceptible diffenrences that make us unique. This uniqueness is shown in different responses to specific nutrients. The matter of diet, genes and gen-diet interactions are solved by two developing scientific disciplines - nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics. Nutrigenomics aims to determine the influence of common dietary ingredients on the genome, and attempts to relate the resulting different phenotypes to differences in the cellular and genetic response of the biological system. Nutrigenetics identifies and characterizes gene variants associated with differential responses to nutrients, and relates these variants to disease states. Scientific research is focused primarily on chronic diseases including obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2 and cancer. The onset of the diseases is caused by enviromental factors on the one hand, and by individual's genotype on the other hand. Nutrigenetics searches for candidates' genes whose...
Typology of rural space in the Pilsen Region and evaluation of soft factors of the development
Krupková, Lucie ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Maříková, Pavlína (referee)
- Typology of rural space in the Pilsen Region and evaluation of soft factors of the development Presented diploma thesis deals with an important theme of rural differentiation. The goal is to create a typology of rural space within the Pilsen Region by potential of the development using quantitative data and then verify the typology by qualitative research of soft factors. The verification consists firstly in research of perception and regional identity of rural regions from the point of view of actors involved in rural development within the Pilsen Region and secondly in evaluation of appearance of chosen rural municipalities to observe the differences of each type. Theoretical part is focused on issues of differentiation of space, institutional theories with accent on application in the rural areas and rural development issues. Analytical part consists of created typology using component and cluster analysis. Further it presents the results of analysis of perception and regional identity of rural regions using method of semi-structured interviews and results of analysis of appearance of municipalities using standardized observation. The outcome is a compact typology created by combination of quantitative and qualitative data with suggestions of specific development possibilities of each type....
