Populační biologie rostlin napadených systémovými parazity
Koubek, Tomáš ; Herben, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šmilauer, Petr (referee) ; Wennström, Anders (referee)
Three separate studies of the effect of plant pathogen on population biology of its host are presented in the thesis. Two are using field data about a widespread system of plant Falcaria vulgaris and its systemic rust fungus Puccinia sii-falcariae. The first study shows, that the disease prevalences in 40 populations of the plant were correlated with the moisture, the soil reaction and the cover of the herb layer at the localities. This was probably a result of the interaction of the life history of the plant and different effect the disease has at various localities. Similar pattern was found in the second study that aimed to determine long-term effect of the disease at the population level at four chosen localities over 4-5 years. Population growth rates were only rarely predicted to be higher for the healthy part of the population when compared with the whole population. Other analyses have however found big differences among years and localities. The locality type (slope vs. field populations) was important factor influencing population stage composition and importance of life cycle transitions for the growth of the population. Finally, the last study explores the possibility that systemic infection in clonal plants might be able to select against clonality. The result of the modelling showed that more...
Effect of different types of managment of distribution and dynamics of Dactylorhiza majalis
Novotná, Jana ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Koubek, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis concerns the influence of soil management upon various lifecycle phases of the Dactylorhiza majalis species. The first part of the thesis is a background research applied to the Orchideaceae family and knowledge regarding the life processes of this group of herbage and aims to fuse them with knowledge about the impact of soil management on herbage. The second part of this thesis sketches out terrain works taking its course in the PLA (Protected Landscape Area) Slavkovsky les on the Dactylorhiza majalis and aspires to uncover reactions of this orchid's populations to various types of management. This research started in 2007 and the data gathering still continues. Its targets are: To map the appearance of the Dactylorhiza majalis in the PLA Slavkovsky les To discover the current habitat management of this species and its population's vitality depending on the soil management To suggest the optimal soil management regarding the habitats of the Dactylorhiza majalis species This thesis represents only the first part of the research, the second part will be covered in the following diploma thesis including evaluation of the data gathered. These results will be applicable not only to the PLA Slavkovsky les, but also to other parts of th Czech Republic and Middle Europe.
Pražské vinařství a vinohradnictví z historického a současného úhlu pohledu
Koubek, Tomáš
Bachelor's thesis is oriented as a theoretical study and it's focused on growing of wine in the Capital city and surroundings from past to present. Bachelor's thesis follows genesis -- progress -- ending and potential renewal concrete Prague's vineyards, wine-growing and viniculture. Percussion instruments in chosen works of Igor Stravinsky
Koubek, Tomáš ; Mikolášek, Daniel (advisor) ; Loudová, Ivana (referee) ; Matoušek, Vlastislav (referee)
In my dissertation I deal with the role of percussion instruments in several most important works of the big Russian composer of the 20th century, Igor Stravinsky. The basis of this work is analyses describing and assessing the role of percussion instruments in these compositions. Each chapter is devoted to one analysed work. The structure of the chapters is unchangeable, an introduction gives some information about the given composition, under which conditions it originated, what the composer's aim was, who commissioned or initiated it, when it was premiered etc. The main part of each chapter is the analysis of the piece focused on technical demands of individual parts of percussion instruments, their playing in unison an combination with other instruments. Igor Stravinsky's highly complicated musical vocabulary using rapid changes of irregular juxtaposed bars and largely involving percussion instruments made me choose his works. They are, in my opinion, the most important and often performed and, regarding a percussionist, they are considered to be the most challenging for mastering the orchestral playing. In the appendix to this master's dissertation I present examples of notation tangibly illustrating described difficulties and situations. I hope this dissertation to be an assed for several reasons: 1) It will become a useful source of information for professional percussionists as well as for conductors performing Stravinsky's works. 2) It may serve as a source of information for future musicologists or arrangers. 3) The additional advantage of this work is the fact that it is written by a practising percussionist since deep knowledge of percussion instruments technique enables to analyse Igor Stravinsky's compositions also with regard to interpretation demands on the player.
Percussion Performance Practice with the emphasis on a symphony orchestra
Koubek, Tomáš ; Mikolášek, Daniel (advisor) ; Kopelent, Marek (referee)
The intention of my work is to describe usage of the most common percussion instruments in different musical bodies, that is in various types of orchestras, ensembles, bands and music groups existing in Europe, as well as to mention some common and less usual techniques of playing these instruments. Furthermore I would like to outline basic rules of percussion notation in its diversity. I will give the most significant examples of composition for percussion ensembles or examples of pieces using a large number of percussion instruments. This work does not focus on solo works for percussion. The detailed study of this topic will be left to other authors of bachelor dissertations. I will be happy if this text finds its way into practical usage. This material could serve for example leaders of musical ensembles or orchestras as well as music composers as a sort of technical manual or "advisory" on how to use percussion instruments in different types of orchestras and ensembles. At the present time the percussion instruments are being used increasingly therefore any accessible literature provides enrichment and becomes a source of knowledge for a lot of active and passive musicians. When describing individual musical bodies I followed the ensuing scheme: a) size (total number of players) b) repertoire and genre orientation c) the most common number of percussionists d) used percussion instruments e) role of individual percussion instruments f) technique and unusual ways of playing g) notation h) examples of notations or compositions
