Tallmayer, Dominik ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
This paper aims to elaborate an urbanistic study focused on the establishment of a multifunction athletic and recreational area located in Vsetín-Ohrada, carrying the name of the location, Ohrada. The reason to elaborate on this project is the current desolate state of the area, which already does not fulfil its purpose and serves only as lodgings and as a facility for the tennis club. My approach for this project implies identified accidence of buildings with an emphasis on maximal use of daylight, open spaces, green areas, and social interactions. All of these parts connect ideas and needs of future generations and deliver into the area new Genio Loci. For me, the biggest challenge in this complex area is finding the answer to meaningful use of the big amount of soil that is part of the canker tribune. The solution for this challenge might be in the creation of new access paths and footbridge to the buildings which provide several parts of space with different atmosphere and purpose. The main idea was the creation of a leisure public space with an emphasis on the variability of used areas that serve people from all age groups. It creates several main areas that divide the location and deliver various atmospheres for each generation. Additionally, the area as a whole is open and accessible to the public. A sign of long-term functional society is the ability of considerable behaviour toward public areas. Space in front of and between buildings happened to be more important than the building itself. In this case, we can talk about public life that is sustainable in time.

Sports and Relaxation Centre Vsetín, Ohrada
Marková, Dominika ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The assignment is an architecture and urban planning study of a sports and recreation center. The solved area is located in the town of Vsetín, in the part called Ohrada. Nowdays, the area is obsolete, unfunctional and also unmodern. My project is mainly focused to create a concept that responds to the environment, offers outdoor and indoor spaces for all generations. It allows better connection with nature, variable use, and division of area by function. The design is defined by the river Bečva on the west side and a busy 1st class road on the east side. It was important to separate pedestrians and cyclists from motor vehicles. The response to this restriction is to direct traffic in the area to the west, towards the river. This creates a terrain works that optically deflects the design in a quieter direction. Buildings are placed in the line and oriented in the western direction. After creating the terrain, I divided the area into several segments according to functionality. In the heart of the area, a multifunctional central hall with an inner climbing wall is set in the terrain. In front of it is a public space for meetings, sports and recreation. On the other side, there is a basketball court, a workout playground, a children's playground in front of the hall and a rest area of ??greenery closer to the river. If we continue southerly down, another cube set into the terrain is a building with a restaurant and a cafe. The southernmost building is a tennis club with facilities for athletes and squash. In front of the building there is a 9x tennis court with a grandstand. Closer to the river and the bike path there is an outdoor climbing wall. From the newly created embankment, the area is divided by a cycle path around the river. Behind the bridge is a green belt separated area which, unlike the previous ones, is tuned in a calmer spirit. We will find a building of a yoga and meditation center.

Rozhkova, Ekaterina ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Boleslavská, Yvona (advisor)
The major goal of masters thesis is purposeful updating of a set of historical objects while also incorporating a new architectural object. Porta Coeli is located in Předklášteří, Tišnov. Předklášteří is a settlement in the Brno-venkov district of the South Moravian Region. Porta Coeli monastery is a national cultural monument. The thesis focuses on new use of the granary and barn buildings in the Porta Coeli area. The granary is a historically significant Baroque structure from the 17th century. It is a big structure with four floors and a basement. It is currently unusable and in dangerous technical state. In a granary building with a restaurant and conference space in the basement, the project primarily provides short-term accommodations. The structure will mostly house guests in double rooms in terms of capacity. There will be 25 seats available in the restaurant. The barn, which will be turned into a multifunctional hall, is closely linked to the project. All of this adds up to a complex that is perfect for weddings, team-building activities, and other social gatherings. The Barn building with the insertion of a new architectural object is on the riverbank. The multifunctional use of the building, the ballroom with facilities for weddings, meetings, will be connected to the outdoor area by the river, the snack bars are designed for catering.
Sports and Relaxation Centre Za Lužánkami, Brno
Julínek, Roman ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The architectural-urban study of the sports and recreational centre Za Lužánkami in Brno deals with the complex design of the sports and recreational complex. At present, the area of the former Boby Centre is in a poor condition. Fully functioning buildings in the area are a hotel, a concert hall and a tennis hall with outdoor courts, while the remaining buildings and areas, led by the football stadium, are dilapidated and do not fulfil their potential for public life. I approached the assignment as a solution to a complicated problem with many variables. The design provides a clear definition and morphology of the buildings, living, sports and recreational areas, including green spaces. It helps to social interaction and induce new contacts between people. It addresses the needs of current and future generations of residents. Connects and links to the transport infrastructure of the neighbourhood at all levels. Refers to the past and thus preserves in all respect the famous sporting genius of the locus to which it adds its own distinctive added value. Based on the design concept, a study has been carried out that takes advantage of a quality site in an attractive location in the city and offers a range of sports and recreational facilities. The main idea behind the design was to connect and relate the area to its surroundings. To offer a high quality public realm that will appeal to as many residents as possible across all generations through its range of functions and focus. Proportionate to its size and importance, several masses and objects were designed to divide the large area into smaller interconnected units. Each area has its own face, its own content and its own typical atmosphere that will win over its users. A good public space can be recognised by the way its users treat it. It becomes a mirror of society. If the design listens to the wishes and needs of the majority of the inhabitants, it becomes useful and sustainable at any time.

Skořepová, Lucie ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
This thesis analyze the conception of the sport centre in Brno za Lužánkami. The area has a very extensive sport history, which dates back to 1922. Nowadays this topic has been very discussed because of the hockey and football history in the place of Lužánky. Hockey and football teams were forced to abandon Lužánky as a consequence of decrepitude and very bad technical aspects of the buildings. The diploma thesis deals with the new concept of the entire area where the professional and leisure sport activities will take place. The extensive architectural study of the multifunctional hockey stadium resolves the location of the object on the same place as the previous stadium. It put emphasis on the generous scattering area around the stadium, easy navigation and placement of the entrances from all around the object. The multifunctional usage of the stadium is solved by the telescopic grandstand and it offers the standard capacity of 10 500 spectators at a hockey match and up to 14 300 spectators at a concert event. The main expression element of the exterior of the stadium are the facade lamellas. They accentuate the ground floor with their dynamic placing and clearly indicate the main entrances to the object. In the night the glasses lamellas are shined by the integrated LED lights and enable to switch endless different faces of the stadium according by the current occasion.

Volf, Anna ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The topic of this diploma thesis is creating an architectural study of new synagogue and center for Jewish community in Teplice. Main goal was to design a complex used not only for sacral purposes, but also for cultural and educational purposes. The intention itself was an attempt to transform the location, to highlight its specificity and to capture its Genius loci. The proposal is a set of four objects consisting of several completely different units, all intended to create possibilities for harmonious coexistence of the past and the future. The complex includes a new separate synagogue building with three utility floors, which is located on the southern side of the premises. Two other objects are a one-storey administration building and a cultural and educational center, both located in the middle of the area. The building on the northern side of the property houses the premises of a kosher restaurant, a museum and a parking lot. Its roof forms a large square and recreational zone. Due to the large altitude differences of the premises, predominant portion of the facility is designed under the ground.

Skládaná, Jana ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is the design of an architectural study of a new building of a children's hospital with speleotherapy. The building is situated in the village of Ostrov u Macochy, which is located in the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. The main goal was to integrate the building into the surrounding terrain as much as possible. From this was derived both the formation of the object itself and the choice of materials used. The design includes two mutually separated buildings – a treatment center and a covered parking lot. The hospital building consists of three interconnected pavilions of various functions. The individual parts of the building are arranged in such a way as to achieve the best possible operational connections. Thanks to the pavilion layout, the adjacent outdoor space was subdivided, creating two play areas for children of different ages. To achieve maximum fusion of the buildings with the surroundings, the buildings were partially embedded into the terrain, covered with terrain wave, and the surrounding landscaping was carried out to the smallest possible extent.
