Analysis of drug utilization of antibiotics for systematic administration in the Czech Republic in 2005-2019 Author: Lenka Suchopárová Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Petr Domecký Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles university Introduction and aims: Antibiotics (ATB) are substances with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect. Treatment with ATB carries a risk of side effects, drug interactions and risk of resistance occurence. The reason for monitoring the consumption of ATB is not only the apparent coherence between their consumption and the increase of resistance, but also the economic side of bacterial infections treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze the consumption of ATB for systematic administration in the Czech Republic (CR) in 2005-2019. Methods: The analysis of the consumption of ATB was performed as a retrospective analysis of data from the database of the State Institute of Drug Control in the period from 1. 1. 2005 to 31. 12. 2019. Anatomical-therapeutic-chemical classification based on defined daily doses (DDD) of individual drugs was used for the analysis. The consumption of ATB was calculated as DDD per thousand inhabitants per day (TID). The data on the number of residents was acquired from the...

Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Training Workplace Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Doctoral Degree Program Clinical and Social Pharmacy Candidate Mgr. Simona Dvořáčková Supervisor doc. RNDr. Jozef Kolář, CSc. Advisor doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis The aspects influencing the therapeutic value of anticoagulants in the Czech Republic Background and aim: Anticoagulants prevent the onset or maintaining of thromboembolic (TE) diseases. Both long-term used drugs, the disadvantages of which may limit treatment, and newer ones, the benefits of which may be limited by shorter clinical experience, are currently approved. Drug utilization may be an important indicator of trends in drug use, as well as pharmacovigilance surveillance and the benefits and risks assessment in clinical practice. Research related to the evaluation of the therapeutic value of anticoagulants and the factors influencing their use in clinical practice contribute to safer pharmacotherapy, therefore the aims of this thesis were: 1) to analyze the drug utilization of parenteral and oral anticoagulants (OACs) in the Czech Republic (CR) between the years 2007-2020; 2) to evaluate the numbers and characteristics of spontaneously reported suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs)...

Ládová, Kateřina ; Matoulková, Petra (advisor) ; Červený, Petr (referee) ; Lukáš, Milan (referee) ; Kolář, Jozef (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Candidate: Mgr. Kateřina Ládová Supervisor: PharmDr. Petra Matoulková, Ph.D.; PharmDr. Magda Vytřísalová, Ph.D. (Consultant) Title of Doctoral Thesis: The Importance of Self-Reported Medication Adherence in the Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Pharmacotherapy Introduction and Objective: Medication adherence (MA) is a highly variable factor affecting the response to the therapy. Especially in chronic disease, non-adherence presents a problem that may have health, social, and even economic consequences. Measuring MA is the most often performed by self-reported surveys which enables, among others, their simple application in research as well as in every day clinical practices. Self-reported MA monitoring may contribute to maximizing the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy and minimizing the risk of therapy failure, however, standardization of measuring process is needed. Moreover, some factors such as healthy adherer effect (HAE), which reflect patient health seeking behaviour but cannot be easily monitored, can favourably affect health outcomes. Acquired results may then be incorrectly attributed to drug therapy examined in the study. Hence, the main aims of this doctoral thesis were: 1) to...

Title of Thesis «Antibiotic use by pharmacy employees» Introduction: This thesis discusses the issue of the purchase and use of antibiotics pharmacy employees in Saint-Petersburg, Russian Federation. The objectives of the study were to investigate their level of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding antibiotics. The frequency of consulting the pharmacists about diseases that often require antibiotics is rather high among patients in the Russian Federation. And many pharmacists provide their recommendations. Opinion polls held by WCIOM (Russian Public Opinion Research Center) in 2011 showed that 46% of respondents believe antibiotics kill viruses. Moreover, since 2007 this figure has even increased slightly - then it was 45%. According to the European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption (ESAC) total outpatient antibiotic use in Russian Federation from 1997 to 2009 expressed in DDD per 1000 inhabitants and per day was 9.8 (2003), 9.3 (2004), 9.1 (2005), 9.6 (2006), 10.2 (2007), 10.0 (2008) and 12.2 (2009). Methodology: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a random sample of 308 respondents using a...
