Use of conductivity meter to characterize the flow of groundwater in well: Use of artificial well
Rodovská, Žaneta ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Kobr, Miroslav (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is focused on the geophysical "tracer dilution technique" in the well. The main aim of my thesis was to test modern autonomous conductivity meter (Levelogger, Solinst co. Canada) for this method in the artificially assembler well, where the real flow rate can be measured and controlled unlike in case of real wells. To compare the flow rate directly measured on inflow tubes to well and indirectly derived from tracer dilution technique the mean residence time in vertical segments was used. Based on 8 experiments the autonomous conductivity meter and also conductivity meters with probe on cable can be used for tracer dilution technique. Experiments clearly demonstrated that salt solution is slowly leached even from dead zones in unscreened part of the well at lest several tens of cms from boundary with creened casing. Salt solution is migrating from dead zones to sreened parts of the well. As a result the tracer dilution technique gives up to 2 times slower horizontál flow rate than directly measured flow. Similar effect may exit on real wells. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Geothermal energy
Čápová, Lucie ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Datel, Josef (referee)
Geothermal energy is a perspective renewable source of energy. Its usage is undergoing vast development, focused especially on geothermal heat pumps and Enhanced Geothermal Systems. Basic information on the sources of Earth's heat, geological conditions and other factors influencing how geothermal energy may be exploited and processed, is presented in this paper. Various scientific papers and information resources of relevant companies have been investigated in order to obtain data on the usage of geothermal energy, focusing mainly on different types of thermal environment. One of the chief aims of this work was to provide examples of significant geothermal fields worldwide (Italy, New Zealand, USA, Philippines, Iceland, France), including specific information on each of the sites. In addition, the possibility of the use of geothermal energy in the Czech Republic has been discussed, based on the current knowledge of heat-flow density throughout the territory of the Czech Republic. As for this country, district heating in Děčín and a geothermal project in Litoměřice have been mentioned as examples. Keywords: geothermal energy, geothermal power plant, geothermal field
Strategy development and utilization of geothermal energy in East Slovakia
Štiaková, Jana ; Datel, Josef (advisor) ; Kobr, Miroslav (referee)
Presented bachelor thesis considers the importance of using renewable energy sources with a focus on geothermal energy. The main goal is to assess various possibilities of using geothermal energy around the world and particularly in the Slovak Republic. The thesis indicates a strong potential of this source, located especially in the east of the country in the Kosice basin. Certain parts of the thesis describe the different ways of use of the geothermal heat, geology of studied territory and the occurrence of thermal waters of the East region. The aim is to assess the geothermal potential of sites with suitable conditions for the use of thermal waters and analyze the state of utilization of geothermal energy in the Kosice basin for the supply of heat and electricity.
Thermal logging data analysis in the area of Ohárecký Lineament
Schinkmann, Jakub ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Dědeček, Petr (referee)
Jakub Schinkman - abstract The object of the thesis was a detailed processing of the available temperature logging data from the area of Ohře lineament. The Ohře lineament is known by its characteristic temperature manifestations. Based on a comprehensive selection of thermometric logs and using the results of other logging methods were selected a total of 281 wells suitable for the construction of temperature maps. The parts of the work are maps of geothermal gradient and temperature sections across the Ohře lineament. Based on these summary maps, 6 smaller areas with anomalous temperature signs were selected for detailed analysis. Anomalies and trends in geothermal gradient were then compared with some other geophysical features. The work provides not only detailed processing of the collected thermometric data, but also shows the different possibilities of visualization and try to understand the problems of heat transfer in the upper parts of the earth's crust.
Geophysical survey for deep geothermal energy exploitation at the site Nova Paka
Karousová, Magda ; Karous, Miloš (advisor) ; Kobr, Miroslav (referee)
Title: Geophysical survey for deep geothermal energy exploitation at the site Nova Paka Author: Magda Karousová Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Miloš Karous, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: karous@geonika.com The topic of this thesis is a literature search of geological, geophysical, and geothermal information about wider surroundings of the area of Nova Paka and a complete geophysical survey focused on mapping of deeper fault zones and verification of Permo-Carboniferous sediments thickness. The area has been preliminarily assessed as promising for the use of deep geothermal energy. It belongs to the south-western part of Krkonoše Piedmont Basin. The bedrock of the basin is formed by Proterozoic metamorphites. Heating of surrounding rocks by intrusions of local volcanics during the Younger Tertiary is considered important for geothermal applications. The cover of metamorphic bedrock by sediments may indicate accumulation of the heat from the bedrock at relatively shallow depths of several hundred meters. Geophysical measurements, namely reflection and refraction seismics, gravimetry and resistivity profiling identified two major fault zones of east-west and northwest-southeast direction. The interpretation of the data obtained by geophysical sounding methods, namely seismic reflection and vertical...
Geological and Petrophysical Characterization of Hawaz Sandstones Reservoir in ‚H' Oil Field, Murzuq Basin, SW Libya
Sherif, Yousef M.A. ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Čepek, Petr (referee) ; Lukeš, Jiří (referee)
There are several basins with oil productive formations on the North African Platform. The Murzuq basin is one of them; it is situated in the south- west part of Libya and the northern portions of Niger, representing an intracratonic sag basin. It was initiated during the Palaeozoic Pan-African orogine. The deposition of the basin started with basal barren conglomerates of Hassaouna Formation unconformably overlying the Precambrian basement and being unconformably overlained by productive Hawaz Formation. The top of the Hawaz Formation is strictly demarcated by radioactive shales (lower Silurian Tanezzuft shales). The contact between top of the sedimental cycle of upper fluvial delta to shallow marine sea deposits and Silurian marine pelagic sediments documents an important palaeoclimatic change in sedimentary environment owing to Caledonian Unconformity. Silurian pelagic marine sediments represent an extensive marine flooding in all North-African Platform area. This flooding event of sea level rise was caused by melting and dissolving of the glacial material on the surrounding mountainous area during Caledonian unconformity, while this mountainous area transformed in peneplane. The present study is based on slabbed cores, core samples, and thin section; photographic of cores, conventional core...
