Use of data from flight data recorder for aircraft maintenance
Vráblíková, Lucie ; Horpatzká, Michaela (referee) ; Koštial, Rostislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with analysis of existing solutions for collecting maintenance data and technical condition of the aircraft. Based on this analysis, it proposes a trend monitoring system based on the existing structure and data from the flight data recorder.
Design of hydrogen pressure tank installation on the VUT 001 Marabu wing
Koštial, Rostislav ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Píštěk, Antonín (advisor)
The content of this Master thesis to design installation of hydrogen pressure tanks for airplane VUT RAY 051. Survey was conducted of the available fuel cell on the market. Position of the tank was chosen over the wing using components for mounting a jet engine TJ100 M for aircraft VUT 001 MARABU. For fuel tanks were designed fairings. Further was calculated mass and centre of gravity analysis of aircraft, basic flight performance of aircraft and the drag variation in the location of the tanks above the wing. Further the strain and strength of hinges was calculated.
Application of Safety and Reliability Assurance Techniques in Spacecraft Systems
Horčička, Marek ; Koštial, Rostislav (referee) ; Weisman, Andrej (advisor)
Thesis is focused on safety and reliability of space products. It describes assessment methods and applies them on small commercial satellite.
High-lift system of the competition model aircraft
Vrba, Martin ; Koštial, Rostislav (referee) ; Koutník, Tomáš (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis is focused on compiling a summary of lift mechanization, at both the leading and the trailing edges used on plane models and unmanned means of transport. It briefly explains their principles and functions. It describes the method of calculation of the flight mode design of the competing aircraft according to the specifications of the Air Cargo Challenge competition.
Analysis of aviation accidents caused by incorrect maintenance
Ježek, Martin ; Weis, Martin (referee) ; Koštial, Rostislav (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis covers the aviation accidents caused by incorrect maintenance. It is especially dedicated to the most common human errors and conditions, that can act as precursors to incidents and accidents. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part summarizes the basic statistics of accidents. The next part analyzes the most common causes of accidents due to bad maintenance and methods, that could be used to reduce them. In the last part, there are selected accidents caused by incorrect maintenance focusing on the reformation leading to safer flights.
Evaluation of advantages and disadvantages of aircraft automatic systems
Vrána, Michal ; Koštial, Rostislav (referee) ; Horpatzká, Michaela (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with civil airplane automatic systems. The first part analyses historical development of flight control systems and automatic system together with philosophy, which is implemented in modern airliners. In the next part, we evaluate advantages and disadvantages together with list and description of modern avionic systems, which participate on automatic flight. In the last part, selected airplane incidents and accidents are analysed, focusing on influence of automation with incidental human factor.

Energy Harvesting and its capabilities for use in aircraft structure health monitoring
Dvořáček, Zdeněk ; Červenka, Miroslav (referee) ; Koštial, Rostislav (advisor)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analysis of thermoelectric generator as power supply for wireless sensors in aircraft structures monitoring system. The theoretical part contains a research of thermoelectric phenomenon and current solutions. In practical part is a goal to build laboratory teaching model for the analysis of the performance of various types of conventional thermoelectric generators.
Layout optimisation method for active structural health monitoring
Červenka, Miroslav ; Koštial, Rostislav
This paper describes optimisation method for designing sensoric layout for Active Structural Health Monitoring (A-SHM) by Ultrasonic Guided Waves (UGW) on metal and non-metal (composite) materials. The SHM sensors need to be placed optimally in order to detect structural damage with high probability before the damage turns critical. Configuration of used optimisation algorithm for such task is not straightforward. Differential Evolution (DE) has two configuration parameters – the mutation factor F and the crossover rate CR – whose settings largely influence the solution quality the optimisation process can yield. For that matter we describe an elaborated a method to guide this selection towards good results using visual heat maps with the intent to select best DE’s variant and particular configuration to receive the most optimal SHM sensorics layout.
