The effect of application distant electrotherapy /VAS-07/ on pain of patients suffering from back pain

This thesis focuses on the back pain and possible ways of treatment of the pain it inflicts with distance elektrotherapy. Specifically, the impacts of the device VAS - 07 are discussed. The aforementioned device combines the effects of treatment based on the gate control theory of pain and phototheraphy The aim of this thesis is to map out the effects this therapy has on the pain of patients suffering from this disease. Nowadays, back pain is a disease affecting a large amount of patients and its etiology includes numerous structural and functional defects. Back pain befalls people from various social backgrounds and of all ages. Due to the rising incidence, this disease is becoming one of the most common reasons why people visit physiotherapeutical clinics. This is in turn caused by the lifestyle associated with our modern civilisation. There are many ways of dealing with this disease. Among frequently used techniques are kinesiotherapy, manipulation therapy, soft techniques, possitive termotherapy and different kinds of electrotherapy. One of the possible treatments is the distance electrotherapy, using the device VAS - 07. The theoretical part contains the fundamental information about the disease and the selected way of tretment. Namely, the anatomy and kinesiology of the spine, pain and its varieties, back pain, as well as distance electrotherapy and the device VAS - 07 itself are scrutinized. A qualitative research was carried out for the practical part of the thesis. The research is based on medical history of the patinets, kinesiology analyses of the patients and dialogs between each patient and the author. Both static and dynamic examinations are included in the kinesiology analyses. The research group consisted of four respondents of both sexes ranging between 40 and 55 years of age. All participants provided a written consent to the use of the amassed data in this thesis under the condition that they remain anonymous. The research was conducted in a rehabilitation clinic at the health center in Blatná. The results were mostly coincident among the participants. The employment of the therapy resulted in decrease of the pain level among all participants. Some of the participants further mentioned a change of the quality of the pain. There were also differences between the entrance and final examinations. Changes of posture were detected in the aspect examinations too. Most of the changes occurred in areas where patients experienced the pain or areas in close proximity. Adittionaly, changes were found in the mobility of spine segments and the mobility of the whole spine as well. After decerease in pain levels, the results of tests evaluating the mobility of the spine improved among all respondents. The inspected methods of treatment also caused the relaxation of soft tissue, which were previously less relaxed. This fact has elucidated when examined by the Kiblesr´s skinfold. Comparing the final kinesiology examinations to the initial one, an adjustment of hypertonic muscles was also detected.

Effectiveness of Intermunicipal Cooperation in the Provision of Environmental Services in the Waste Management

Municipalities within their jurisdiction must provide their citizens with a range of services which are often very financial demanding for many of them and are a heavy burden on their local budgets. In addition, in this area municipalities are also imposed to a number of conditions and objectives defined by the basic documents for waste management in the Czech Republic. One possible solution to these problems is to provide services through intermunicipal-cooperation. In this thesis there are analyzed the possibilities of using this form of service provision in the area of waste management in the Czech Republic. The first part is an introduction to this topic, defining the fundamental objectives specified in the Waste Management Plan and other official documents, legal conditions for cooperation between municipalities and a summary of foreign experience with the cooperation of municipalities. In the practical part these findings are tested through a questionnaire survey on the real experiences of existing unions in the Czech Republic, which shows that inter-municipal cooperation is not in our circumstances sufficiently and comprehensively utilized; the municipalities leave most of the competencies on themselves. To improve this situation could help more effective state support and change of certain legal conditions.

Nurses educational activities in patients with epilepsy

The topic of this work is: Educational work of nurse with patients suffering from epilepsy. The word education means upbringing and education. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases. Nurses should, therefore, be educated in this field in such way that they could teach the patient to follow the treatment regime. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empiric part. In the first part I focus on the epilepsy itself. In the second part I describe the education, its kinds, methods, goals and phases. Furthermore, I describe the role of a nurse as an educator and the content of education of an epileptic patient. Quantitative and qualitative research solution was chosen. Quantitative researching was done with the use of data collecting technique of questionnaire for nurses working at the neurology ward. The results of quantitative research were presented in a chart and evaluated in discussion. Qualitative researching was made in the form of non-standardised interviews with clients suffering from epilepsy. There were two objectives set by this bachelor thesis. The first one was to map general nurses? knowledge of the methods of education of patients suffering from epilepsy. A hypothesis was set: "Nurses know the methods of education of patients with epilepsy." The second aim was to ascertain the knowledge of patients with epilepsy, educated by nurse, about the treatment regime and a research question was set: "What is the knowledge of patient with epilepsy about the treatment regime after he has been educated by the nurse?" After processing the results of questionnaire we can say that the hypothesis was confirmed. Nurses are well informed about the methods of education. But I think the nurses have little knowledge about education itself. There is certainly room for improvement. The results of quantitative research pointed out that many nurses are not engaged in educating clients with epilepsy. The interviews showed that the clients have knowledge about the treatment regime but is seems plain to them. As an output of this work, an informational material with basic information about treatment regime for patients with epilepsy was created (appendix 4). Furthermore, my work shows some examples of the structure of educational plan in nursing (appendix 1). It should serve the nurse as a source for education administration.
