Tandemat - didactic game for teaching of mathematics at the secondary school
Šilhánová, Lucie ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
Tandemat - didactic game for the teaching of mathematics at the secondary school The thesis concerns a didactic game called Tandemat which I have created as a complement for the teaching of mathematics at secondary schools. The goal of the thesis is to find out and describe the potential of this game for the teaching of mathematics at this school level. First, the importance of games in our lives and also in teaching is mentioned. Next, some resources concerning games in the teaching of mathematics are described. The core of the thesis consists of the game Tandemat which I have elaborated and which is inspired by the popular game Activity. The results of the pilot studies of the game with the preliminary name Aktivity which were realized at elementary school and university helped to improve the game into its present version Tandemat. This has been tested by five groups of pupils in four classes of a secondary grammar school. The experiments were recorded and the acquired data were analyzed using the method based on the grounded theory approach. Moreover, a questionnaire was administered to pupils, concerning their grades in mathematics and the Czech language and their remarks on the game itself. The results of the analyses, observations and questionnaires show the potential and the limits of...
Building numerical images in 10-12 year old children using sorbon
Kučerová, Eliška ; Slezáková, Jana (referee) ; Jančařík, Antonín (advisor)
The Diplom Thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretical and the practical one. In the theoretical part there are notes about history of the development of the abacuses, with the focus on the japanese abacus. As well as, with the basic principals of the counting with soroban (addition and subraction). In the practical part there is a description of the experimental teaching with the soroban with the children in the 3rd grade. It is followed by the analyse of this teaching and its conclusion. In this part there is lso a chapter discussing the using of soroban in the current Japanese school system. In the supplement there is a technique of the counting with soroban (multiplying and dividing). However this has not been used for the experiment. There are also added examples of the working sheets which i was using during my teaching.
Mathematical e-learning course in the Moodle system
Balíčková, Jaroslava ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
This Diploma Thesis focuses on e-leaming and the creation of mathematical e-learning courses in the Moodle system. The key objective is to create an e-learning course with a mathematical story and to inform about the Moodle system. The first part discusses e-learning. The main part describes the Moodle itself, its evolution and how to work with it. Next, a chapter on a course called Dědictví Anaidniho Senoje. The final part summarises LMS systems which can be used to create e-learning courses.
Solving word problems using Venn diagrams
Návarová, Daniela ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee) ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor)
This bachelor thesis shows the characteristic features of Venn diagrams, whereas its main focus lies in the study of solving various word problems. The first part presents the theoretical descriptions of the most important facts relating to this topic, and these ideas are subsequently expanded from the practical point of view in the second part of the thesis. The main aim of this work is to give a complex survey of the theme including author's own systematic categorisation of the world problems where Venn diagrams can be used. Keywords: word problem, set, Venn diagram
Selected games for teaching mathematics with emphasis on the game Folding
Prokopec, Michal ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
The aim of the thesis was to create and trial the game Folding. This game is useful in mathematic lessons for practicing definitions, correct recording of steps of construction in geometry and basically any field where precise language is required. Two experiments were conducted and evaluated. The result is that the activity is particularly useful for practicing the above skills but requires a thorough preparation and is not useful for numerical exercises. The thesis is supplemented with an overview of research dealing with the usage of games in mathematics classes. A list of thirteen games which can be used in mathematics classes is an important part of the thesis. The games are briefly described and my own observations and experience with their use in teaching are included.
Research of imagination in children younger school age
Kutilová, Sandra ; Jančařík, Antonín (advisor) ; Kaslová, Michaela (referee)
SUMMARY: The aim of this thesis "Research the imagination of children younger school age" was primarily to determine the level of spatial skills among pupils of the 4th and 5th grade of primary school. This work compares and shows the level of surface and spatial imagination in two planes - theoretical (quantitative test - 2D imagination, 3D imagination) and practical (manipulation puzzles - Tangram, Soma cube).
The use of the Internet in the teaching of mathematics
Brázdová, Marie ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee)
The thesis focuses on information and communication technologies in education. It mainly deals with the use of the Internet in the teaching of mathematics at lower and upper secondary schools. The aim of the thesis is to summarize some information concerning the present knowledge of information and communication technologies in education and their impact on the process of education, to present various ways of using the Internet by maths teachers and to conduct an enquiry into the present state of the use of the Internet by maths teachers at lower and upper secondary schools. The thesis provides information about interesting mathematical Internet resources and examples of their use in a teacher's preparation for lessons and in mathematics lessons, too. The resources mentioned in the work should contribute to the improvement in the efficiency of the teaching of mathematics. The thesis shows that the Internet is a beneficial source which could improve the quality of the teaching of mathematics and education in general.
When a Solution is Available or Three Angles on Graph Paper
Dvořáková, Hana ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee) ; Slezáková, Jana (advisor)
My diploma thesis contains the solving description of three tasks: seeking after the shortest ways in a grid rectangle m x n, exploring the location of grid isosceles triangles within the frame of cross-section paper, and identifying the number of grid abscissas with at least one grid point and with the marginal points on the rectangle perimeter m x n. The task solving is accompanied by self-reflection method. Experiments with primary school pupils are analyzed in the next part of the diploma thesis. The experiments' tasks are similar to the ones I solved. Seeking after the shortest ways task was already solved and subsequently described in another diploma thesis. This method is analyzed and compared with my own in the next chapter. The diploma thesis also contains a chapter about cognitive process, which is the theoretical background for these analyses. The tasks in the last chapter are either related to the previous mentioned tasks or they develop meta-cognitive abilities necessary for task solving. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
