Semantic-motivational types of German surnames in Kašperské Hory

The main topic of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of current German surnames in the city Kašperské Hory according to individual semantic-motivational types. The thesis is divided into two parts, the first one deals with the historical context of the city Kašperské Hory. It has been since the foundation of the city, through the difficult 20th century to the 21st century. The history and the relationship between the Czech and German inhabitants of the city are especially studied. The second part is focused on the creation of a material corpus, which contains a complete list of all the current surnames of the German origin of the inhabitants in the city Kašperské Hory. The surnames are divided and analyzed by professional literature according to semantic-motivational categories.

Supply and the importance of self-groups in the Czech Republic with a focus on Prague

Self-help groups are an interesting phenomenon and they could serve as a significant complement to the social services. Nevertheless they don't attract much attention in the Czech republic. In the theoretical part this thesis is trying to describe in detail how the self-help groups work, how they can complement social services and what are their risks and limitations. In the practical part a research was conducted in order to understand and map the situation of Czech self-help groups. This research was based on the internet search engine and registry of social services providers. The goal of the research was to map the self-help groups in the Czech republic in relation to geographical and typological allocation. The outcome of the research is a directory of active self-help groups that should serve both social workers and potencial clients of the self-help groups.

Seasonal mortality

This bachelor thesis deals with the seasonality of mortality in the Czech Republic since the end of the 17th century to the present. In the theoretical part the used demographic terms and data sources are cleared up. The analytical part focuses on the development of mortality with a focus on seasonality. Emphasis is then placed on the period after 1989, and the differences in seasonal trends by cause of death. Further, the thesis is comparing the seasonality of mortality in the Czech Republic and Spain, where the two states were chosen for their different geographic location.
