Phase coherent link between ISI and BEV

The paper deals with the current state and the first experiments performed on a 232 km long cross-border phase-coherent line between ISI in Brno and BEV in Vienna. This line is the first operational segment of the planned network for mutual comparison of different types of optical atomic clocks between ISI (Ca +), BEV (Cs) and Atominstitut (Thorium) in Vienna. At all workplaces, local highly coherent lasers (spectral line width in the order of Hz or better) will be synchronized with the link output. This network of synchronized lasers will serve as a transfer medium for the mutual comparison of optical atomic clocks in individual laboratories.

The interferometric system for high-resolution wafer positioning is a result of applied research exploiting long-term research results in optical dimensional metrology at the Department of Coherence Optics which is in a prototype form designed for electron-beam lithography systems of a company Raith Nanofabrication, GmbH, Germany. Several prototypes have been tested on e-beam writers and will enter production.

The contractual research was oriented towards development of the optical frequency references intended for frequency stabilization of compact laser sources. These optical references were based on absorption cells filled with ultra-pure absorption gases and they allow precise locking of the lasers with the methods of laser spectroscopy. The cells will serve as the references of optical frequencies in systems of primary length standards (633 nm wavelength).
