The Value of Touch in the Nursing Profession

This thesis concentrates on the issue of touch - based communication in general nursing in the area of emergency care. The theoretical part drala with the value itself, the importace of the touch in the life of a man, the role of physical contact within the scope of nursing profession, and the possible consequences of the touch. Further, the thesis is concerned with the issue of the therapeutic touch and its importance, versatility of means of non-verbal communication, and some selected dissimilarities of non-verbal communication within the field of multicultural environment. The last section of theoretical part of the thesis is engaged in the questions of burnout. The research project, which is presented in the practical part of the thesis, is aimed at the realization of the process of the touch-based communication between the nurse and the patient in selected departments and wards, and the variety of factors, which influence the process of communication. I have used two types of questionnaires in the research. The first one is my own question-form and the other one is the officially approved questionnaire. The Life Style of a Diabetic Child

Dissertation is aimed in the awareness of diabetes in children about diabetes mellitus sickness and further on its lifestyle. In the theoritical part it desribes the diabetes mellitus sickness, its possible causes as well as the possibities of treatment or cure. In the next or following chapters, it discusses about it, what is its lifestyle and what duty or obligation have the children patient after being informed of the diagnose that it is diabetes mellitus. The main method used for processing on or working the dissertation was a questionnaire. The individual item in the questionnaire were the assessement from the point of view of the whole statistical collections, next is from the age point of view, sex and the length of sickness. Statistical research in groups 85 diabetic children were found, that the level of awareness about the problematic sickness was satisfactory and more if 90% of the questionnaire respondent knew the right answers in the knowledge item. Part of the questionnaire were also items dealing with the lifestyle of diabetic children of which statistical processing brought interesting results about life of children physically handicapped due to diabetes mellitus illness or disease.

The Prestige of Specialized Teacher

This diploma thesis deals with the prestige of specialized teacher at general nurses' group (SI), patients' group (S2), students' group (S3). The thesis is divided into theoretical and analytical part. The theoretical part is concerned with historical and contemporary position of teacher in our society to social prestige of his job. The analytical part is concentrated on the personality of practical teacher, her character, behavior, bargaining, exterior adjustment and on the identification of social position of specialized teacher in comparison to other medical professions and other selected occupations. The research was done by the questionnaire method. Three versions of questionnaire for each analyzed group were used. 150 respondents participated in the research. 7 hypotheses were elaborated. 5 hypotheses were confirmed and 2 not confirmed. Higher social position of the professional teacher was confirmed. According to the result of research, the position of professional teacher is in 8th place among 30 other occupations.
