Humanitarian Situation in Kosovo Reported in Lidove noviny and Pravo (1998-1999)
Havránková, Petra ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Hronová, Tereza (referee)
This paper deals with the issue of media bias in the Czech Republic during the Kosovo crisis (1998-1999). Specifically, the paper attempts to answer the question on what kind of attitude the Czech media held towards the interest of the Kosovo Albanians, Serbs, or if they presented a neutral view on the subject. The paper analysis the contents of 231 newspaper articles published in the Lidové noviny and Právo daily newspaper in three selected periods (October-December 1998, May 1999 and July-September 1999). The paper concludes that there were differences between the standpoints in between the two media, and describes the individual nuances. The overall result of the analysis suggests that none of the papers adopted a continuous neutral standpoint and that the positions have evolved correspondingly in the course of the crisis. The paper also presents academic research dealing with the media bias during war reporting and, in conclusion, matches these theories against the results of the contents analysis. To illustrate the overall context, this paper also describes three periods concerned and analyzes the situation in Kosovo from the humanitarian perspective.
The communist propaganda in the Mateřidouška magazine (1945-1955)
Havránková, Petra ; Suk, Pavel (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The paper describes the development of the content of Mateřídouška magazine in 1945 - 1955 against the backdrop of political and social developments in post-World War 2 Czechoslovakia. These trends included robust centralization of media and their subordination to the Communist regime. The paper examines the characteristics of propaganda and its role in media as one of the key instruments of totalitarianism. It explores the use of Communist propaganda in Czechoslovak juvenile literature. The second part of the paper describes the founding of Mateřídouška and its position among contemporary newspapers and children literature. It examines the influence of the editors-in-chief, namely that of František Hrubín and Jiří V. Svoboda, on the contents of the magazine. The third part describes the application of propaganda on the youngest readers during the first years since the inception of the magazine. The hermeneutic analysis covers various aspects of propaganda, including the cult of personality, celebration of labour, the role of armed forces and other phenomena of the early Communist period in Czechoslovakia.
Neuromodulation in treatment of selected dystonic syndromes
Havránková, Petra ; Jech, Robert (advisor) ; Štětkářová, Ivana (referee) ; Rokyta, Richard (referee)
Dystonia is a neurological syndrome characterized by the involuntary contraction of opposing muscles, causing twisting movements or abnormal postures (modified by Fahn, 1987). Writer's cramp is the most common form of task-specific focal dystonia. In the first study, patients with writer's cramp were evaluated for differences in cortical activation during movements likely to induce cramps (complex movements) and movements which rarely lead to dystonia (simple movements). Although complex patient movements during fMRI were never associated with dystonic cramps, they exhibited abnormally decreased cortical activity. This was not observed in simple movements and was unrelated to the character of handwriting or the presence/absence of visual feedback. Our results support the theory of dualistic sensorimotor system behavior in writer's cramp. As the somatosensory system is believed to be affected in focal dystonia, we focused on modulation of the primary somatosensory cortex (SI) induced by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the second study, in order to improve writer's cramp. In conclusion, 1 Hz rTMS of the SI cortex can improve manifestations of writer's cramp while increasing cortical activity in both hemispheres. Handwriting as well as subjective assessment improved in most...

Development of coloraturas arias
Havránková, Petra ; JONÁŠOVÁ, Jana (advisor) ; MÁROVÁ, Libuše (referee)
This master thesis entitled "Development of coloraturas arias " is divided into several parts, which branch out into individual sections. The first part deals with an explanation of basic terms of coloratura and aria, as they are described in encyclopedic dictionaries and encyclopedias. This part is followed by brief formal development of aria throughout ages. I continue with the historical development of coloratura from the chapter Middle Age through the following era of renaissance and polyphony to the baroque, where I am describing the origins of opera as a dramatic genre. This part is divided into two parts , in which I describe the formation of coloratura aria and recitative and also the birth of other genres in which are coloratura arias widely used. The next chapter is devoted to the phenomenon of the eunuchs, who contributed to the expansion of coloratura arias around the world. The chapters Alessandro Scarlatti, Georg Friedrich Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach, mention their compositional techniques and also examples of work with coloratura and their contribution to the future generations. The following Classicism brings compositional techniques of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his work. The next chapter, the romantic period, is dedicated to "Belcanto composers" Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti, who had contributed to the trend of coloratura techniques. Giuseppe Verdi was the last representative of belcanto era. In the penultimate chapter I write about selected roles that might be suitable for coloratura soprano and in the end I describe my relationship with the soprano voice in coloratura field.
View of today´s young people to opera and operatic production
Havránková, Petra ; Jonášová, Jana (advisor) ; Hajóssyová, Magdaléna (referee)
This work deals with a brief history of opera up to 21st century and briefly describes the opera houses in Prague. Reveals the painful political background of opera houses ans points to the unpleasant political situation of the Prague State Opera. I focus here on the musocal literacy of young people and I am trying to answer the question why today´s education in music is so low. The document includes also a small research that seeks to uncover the views of young people to opera and operatic production in this country. In the second chapter examined the information and describes my personal opinion as to how the situacion could be resolved. Finally I placed the thanks and look back at previous chapters.
