Havránek, Petr ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Ziegler, Václav (referee)
HAVRÁNEK P.: Inventory of mineralogical localities of Kutná Hora and Zďár region. Thesis Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague, Department of Biology and Environmental Studies Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Vasilis Teodoridis, Ph.D The main objective of this thesis is the inventory of categories of Kutná Hora and Žďár district. Inventory category as condition of the sites, finds success, safety, accessibility, accompanying rocks, minerals and genesis type sites have express important information about the characteristics of the sites of both regions of interest at the moment. Locations that are identified as most important, they are then further processed and photographically documented. In addition to mineralogical inventory locations are processed with regard to their use in organizing geological excursions to the region.

52 8 Summary The influence of defect size and surgical technique on the long-term morbidity of children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of diaphragm reconstruction using a synthetic non-absorbable patch from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Gore-Tex) and primary repair of diaphragm defects on the long-term morbidity in children after surgery of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), with a primary interest in the influence of these techniques on the occurrence of skeletal deformities and the development of pulmonary functions. One part of this study is to introduce a new objective method for perioperative evaluation of the size of diaphragmatic defects to enable comparison of results among various centres and methods used for diaphragmatic reconstruction. Another part of this study is to evaluate the validity of lung function assessment using four unique methods of Infant Pulmonary Function Tests (IPFT) in children under 13 kg of body weight. Material and Methods: A study of 69 patients operated on between 1996-2010 for CDH, in which the clinical part of the study was performed between the years 2009-2011. The clinical study evaluated anthropometric examination, pulmonary function testing and a questionnaire study which focused on long-term...
Affecting the growth of a tumor on an experimental animal model

In this study we present the models of preventive and therapeutic vaccination of sarcoma-bearing rats with dendritic cells that present tumor antigens from killed tumor cells. We present the characteristics of DCs-based vaccine and its capacity to induce antitumor immune response both in v vitro and in vivo. We show that preventive vaccination efficiently prevents the growth of tumors. On the other hand vaccination of rats with established tumors did not led to the eradication of tumors. Despite the induction of a vigorous immune response after administration of DCs-based vaccine and transient decrease in tumor progression, tumors eventually resumed their growth and animals vaccinated with DCs succumbed to cancer. In both settings, preventive and therapeutic, DCs-based vaccination induced a vigorous tumor specific T cells response. These results argue for the timing of cancer immunotherapy to the stages of low tumor load. Immunotherapy initiated at the stage of minimal residual disease, after reduction of tumor load by other modalities, will have much better chance to offer a clinical benefit to cancer patients than the immunotherapy at the stage of metastatic disease.
