Two Mexican Antogones
Hamplová, Kristina ; Poláková, Dora (advisor) ; Kazmar, Vít (referee)
(english): Sophocles' Antigone is not only the heroine of one of the most staged tragedies ever, but also a distinctive protagonist of the western thinking. The number or conflicts that the drama offers makes it open to constant updates and new readings. The motive of the right to bury and mourn one's loved ones and the motive of rebellion against blind and cruel authority have resonated strongly in Latin America during the 20th and 21th century. This thesis focuses on two adapations of the original tragedy. The objective is to introduce and analyze the ways in which the authors Sara Uribe and Perla de la Rosa update the myth for the context of contemporary Mexico.
